Hangover
I really need to quit drinking. I only drink on my nights off from work because the last thing I want to do is try to go into work with a hangover. Part of the problem is I really enjoy beer, good beer. I don’t drink mass produced domestics like bud. That’s just nasty. I like micro brews: Stone, Dogfish Head, New Belgium, Magic Hat, Brooklyn Brewery to name a few. I enjoy the flavor of a good stout, the subtle malt nuances of a nut brown, and the bitter bit of an IPA. I don’t drink to get drunk, I drink because I love the flavor. Unfortunately that usually results in inebriation - and with inebriation comes bad food choices. And then I’m too hungover to want to workout the next day. The only other things I enjoy as much as drinking beer are working out, and of course that thing I don’t need to mention. The latter of which I can’t do all the time cause I’m single and I have a crazy work schedule that isn’t condusive to having a relationship. That plus, alot of guys are scared off by the weight bench/squat rack in the living room. Working out is great, but I can’t spend my entire Friday night lifting and running. Maybe cycling. I don’t know. I guess I’m not ready to quit yet.

I totally feel you on the whole cinerio. Being in the Coast Guard, it’s like it’s a prerequisite. All my friends call me up on the weekends, or evenings we don’t have to get up early the next day, and go out and party hard. And I can’t stand the way I feel after I’ve done something like that. I feel like I’ve ruined the pass few days worth of workouts. I read an article on here about bodybuilding and alcohol and how they mix. I have it as a favorite on my bodyspace page. It gave me some motivation to definitly cut back.
I’m also new to this blogging deal so bear with me here if this comes out all jacked up.
But anyways, for me it just comes down to either being strong and keeping it at a minimum or just special occasions. And not just because it’s the end of the week. It sucks alot of times, but I’ve gotten much better at it. It ment finding some sober friends but all in all I think it’s helping me out.

Yeah the bench might be a little bit intimidating, especially if you lift more than they do. Then again it could be hot to some guys.

It’s like that in my line of work too. The assumption is, if the overnight is long, we’re all going out drinking(and eating) or just drinking. It’s fun but i just end up mad at myself.

Its definitely tough. I love a nice cold guinness and often the ones that taste the best have the most calories/carbs. When I do go out I try to alternate… one brew, one water. Keeps the headaches and the high bar tabs away.
