I had some stupid training at work yesterday so instead of going in at midnight I had to be there at 11am! My supervisor was nice to me and gave me the night off. The good news is even though yesterday was "my Friday" I didn’t drink. I have a fridge full of beer and I didn’t touch one, and I didn’t go out.
I usually workout when I get home from work at 10am but yesterday I had to do it before work because I knew I wasn’t going to want to workout when I got home. It was leg day. I used to love leg day because I can really see results and go really heavy. But I’m starting to not like it so much because I’m afraid. I tried squatting 3 sets of 10 reps with 135 lbs. I was afraid to go parallel because of the heavy weight. I know I could do it, but I think I need someone there to help me just in case I can’t get back up. I lowered the weight to 130 lbs and I was still afraid of dropping it, then down to 125 and it was almost too easy. I really want to build mass in my glutes and I think going heavy with squats is the best way to do it.
I’ve thought about joining the gym in town, but I know I’m going to run into way too many guys from work but it might be the only way I can find a workout buddy.

I really need to quit drinking. I only drink on my nights off from work because the last thing I want to do is try to go into work with a hangover. Part of the problem is I really enjoy beer, good beer. I don’t drink mass produced domestics like bud. That’s just nasty. I like micro brews: Stone, Dogfish Head, New Belgium, Magic Hat, Brooklyn Brewery to name a few. I enjoy the flavor of a good stout, the subtle malt nuances of a nut brown, and the bitter bit of an IPA. I don’t drink to get drunk, I drink because I love the flavor. Unfortunately that usually results in inebriation - and with inebriation comes bad food choices. And then I’m too hungover to want to workout the next day. The only other things I enjoy as much as drinking beer are working out, and of course that thing I don’t need to mention. The latter of which I can’t do all the time cause I’m single and I have a crazy work schedule that isn’t condusive to having a relationship. That plus, alot of guys are scared off by the weight bench/squat rack in the living room. Working out is great, but I can’t spend my entire Friday night lifting and running. Maybe cycling. I don’t know. I guess I’m not ready to quit yet.

Normal people have a couch, tv, coffee table, etc in their living rooms. I have a weight bench (with a squat rack!). The guys at work are all like "What, no TV? What do you do when you go home?" I workout. What else would I do?

Life without cheese is almost not worth living. I’ve made pizza without cheese; it’s was an abomination. Vegan lasagna? It’s hard to hide that blandness that tofu imparts on any food it touches. It’s is like a black hole for flavor.
I can’t put cream cheese on a bagel, I can’t put tzaziki sauce on my gyros. I can’t put parmesan on my eggplant parmesan. No cheese cake, no New England Clam Chowder, no whipped cream. And people in restaurants always give you confused and bewildered looks when you ask for things without cheese. It’s just adds insult to injury.
