I hate to say it, but I am glad that this summer is over. This year has been a trying year so far. Have had to deal with a lot of problems over the last few months. I have been trying to keep up with my workouts as much as possible, but some things just have been preventing it. My weight has really gone up because of it. I am now tipping the scales at just around 210. This week was the first week that I have touched a weight in the last three weeks. I severly burned my arm a few weeks ago and it was almost impossible to do any weight training. I received third degree burns on my left arm. The culprit was steam. My arm got hit with high pressure steam, and it took the skin right off within seconds. Anyway, I am finally back to the weights. I decided to give my home gym a good dusting off.. I am more motivated than I have been in some time, and hope I can get back on track.

This weekend was a pretty bad diet weekend. My son had his adenoids and tonsils removed on Friday, and had to stay in the hospital overnight. I stayed with him, so my diet was not very well. We got up Friday morning at 5, went to the hospital, and pretty much stayed there all day and night. I did manage to get to the gym on Friday afternoon to get my workout in, but like I said, the diet was a bit thrown off. I got it back on track on Sunday, and today is going pretty good so far.

It was weird hittting the gym on Friday afternoon. The people there are quite different (not as friendly) as the people who are there at 7 am. Everyone is always pleasant and very respectfull in the morning. It seemed like everyone had an attitude when I was there in the afternoon.

Am I the only one who has a hard time staying on course on the weekend? It seems like I can stay on track all week long, but once the weekend comes I get derailed. Take my diet for example. All week I am on a pretty routine eating schedule, but as soon as the weekend hits, I get all screwed up. First of all, I do not get up at 5:30 am on the weekend, so my first meal is shot to hell. Next, I am always so busy here and there that I never can seem to stick to an every three hour eating plan on the weekend. Then there is the beer on Saturday nights…. That is a whole other story.

I have been really slacking off these last few weeks. Actually today was the first time I was in the Gym since December 14. I don’t know why, but I just could not get myself to go to the gym. I went today, and it felt pretty good. My diet has really suffered over these last few weeks as well. I just could not stop eating cookies, candy, and all the bad stuff. Now I am ready to really get back into the swing of things. I think I just needed to let loose for a little while. I am going on a cruise in mid March, so I have a lot of work to do if I want to be in good condition for it. Starting January 1, I am going to completely focus on cutting down. I will keep it up until my cruise and then maybe try a bulk, but who knows that is a long way off….

I worked right through the last few weeks, and pushed fairly hard with no problems. I thought I am going to make it to my "scheduled" rest period. All was well, until this morning. I just could not get out of bed to hit the gym. I woke up on time, but I just did not have the drive to get to the gym. I am starting my break a little early. Actually, I am a bit dissappointed, because I only had two workouts to go to stay on track, but I just think that time is right now. I will be getting plenty of exercise on my hunting trip anyway. Until next time, happy Thanksgiving to all.

I have been able to hold my own, but I have had to drop the weight or stayed the same on many of my exercises. I just don’t have the drive to push any harder this week. I don’t know if it is my body telling me that it is time for a break or what, but I can’t quit now. Actually, I already have a scheduled break set up for the week of November 26. It is only two workout weeks away, but I think my body has had it now. I picked that week, because I have a lot of things to do, including going to my hunting camp for a few days. This means I will be no where near a gym, (or work, HA ha) for that matter. Anyway, do you think I should press on for the two weeks or listen to my body and give it a break now?

Today is the day that I had set for my short term goals. Well, I did okay in some areas, but failed in others. My first goal was to get down to 185lbs. Well, that didn’t happen, as I weighed in today at 197. It looks like I failed miserably at this one. I had set my squat numbers to 350, which I had no problem hitting. Actually I got 335 for six reps today, so I am sure I can get 350 for one with ease. I set 250 orm as my bench goal. The jury is still out on this one. I did get 230 for 3 on Monday, but am not sure if I could put up 250 for one or not. I think I can be happy with my progress here, because I think I could probably push the 250 for one if I had to. Finally, I set my military or shoulder press goal at 175 orm. This one was a bit out of reach for me. I switched exercises from a sit down mil press to stand up mil press half way through my progression. I really had to back off on the weight here for some reason. Doing stand ups, I cannot push nearly the weight that I can while doing sit downs. Another reason or excuse for my failure here can have to do with the fact that I am incorporating triceps in with my shoulders. For example, I will do a set of military presses, take a 30 second break, then hit the tris, take a 60 break, and go back to military presses. Enough excuses, I failed. All in all, I guess I only hit 50% of my goals…… Time for some new ones.

On another note, Halloween was last night, and my diet really suffered. I could not resist the sweet taste of that chocolate. Once I got a hold of one piece, I had another, and another, and another. It was not a good scene, and the satisfaction only lasted about five minutes. Anyway, I guess I am back to square one with the diet, as usual.

I am so glad it is Friday. It has been a long week. This blog is going to be of some random thoughts. I finally added a new profile picture. It has been a really long time since I changed it up. I guess I need to add some new progress pictures as well. Maybe next week. I keep putting it off, because I know I haven’t really gone through any noticeable changes. If anything, I put on some more weight since my last photos. My strength is progressing well, but I am not leaning down any. Today was the first day that I did standing shoulder or military presses. Wow, what a difference from seated. I had to drop my weight way back. It felt good though. I hope everyone has a good weekend.
