Stay heavy or go lighter?

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

I am having a real hard time making the decision to keep pressing forward with my heavy routine or to go a little lighter. I just can’t seem to want to give up going heavy. For instance, today I set another high on my squat numbers. I did four sets, 10 x 185, 8 x 225 , 6 x 295, and 6 x 315. I think I should strive for my November 1 goals, which means staying heavy, and then rethinking things a little.

Another Year Gone By

Monday, October 8th, 2007

Yep, another year has past, as today is my 33 birthday. I cannot believe how fast time flies by now. It feels like only yesterday that I graduated high school, and that was over 15 years ago. I totally blew my diet this weekend. I had my sisters wedding this weekend, and I drank a lot, and ate horribly. I also had a huge piece of ice cream cake last night. I just could not turn it down…

I had a pretty decent workout this morning. I ended up changing my days up a little. I ended up doing back today instead of chest, because I have noticed that I am a lot weaker on chest exercises on Monday since I started doing tris and shoulders on Friday. I figure that this will give them another day’s break so maybe I can really push tomorrow.

I am off to see the Foo Fighters tonight. It is my birthday present from my wife. I cannot wait…

Shakey feeling

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

Did any of you ever get a really weak and shakey feeling after a workout? I actually had to sit down for a few minutes today before I hit the showers, because I felt like I was going to pass out. I guess I may have pushed it a little today. I did go pretty heavy on the squats, and I mixed biceps in with legs today. The only other thing that I could think of is that I waited my normal 60 seconds between leg sets, but dropped the time to 30 seconds between sets when doing biceps. Oh well, the feeling is finally going away now that I had something to eat and drink again.

Much better today

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

After a very weak workout yesterday, I felt good today. I actually did four sets of eight of unassisted pullups. It made me feel great, because it is the first time I could get that many. I also did three sets of eight of one arm dumbell rows with 90 lb dumbells (another record for me). I guess I was down for nothing yesterday. It must have just been a bad day.

Weak Today

Monday, October 1st, 2007

I don’t know what happened today, but I was very weak at the gym this morning. I could barely do my normal workout. I almost dropped the bar on my chest twice, because my arms gave out. The only explanation that I can come up with is that I helped move my sister-in law, and there was a lot of heavy work involved. Oh well, tomorrow is another day.

Motivation

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

Motivation is something that I am really starting to lack. Every time that I think I am starting to make some headway with my goals, something pushes me back. For example, I reached my goal of squatting 300 (I am now doing 305 for six reps), but I also gained back the 10 pounds that I lost. It is not the good weight either….

I think I need to focus on trimming down a bit, before trying to put on some more size. Does anyone have a good cutting diet???

Blown Day

Friday, September 14th, 2007

My alarm went off, but I didn’t get up. I usually get up at about 5:30 so I can leave for the gym by 6:10 or so. Well my alarm went off on time, and I hit the snooze (like usual), but did not open my eyes again until 7:00. Damn! I missed the gym this morning. Now I am running like a chicken with its head cut off, because I am going to be late for work. Eat, shower, brush my teeth, and run out the door in about 10 minutes flat. I hate it when I miss a workout, and this was the second time that it happened this week…. I hope the rest of my day is a little better.

Three day weekend

Thursday, September 6th, 2007

Yes, It is my last day of work for the week. I am leaving tonight to go on a weekend fishing trip with my father and some friends. I can’t wait. No wife, no kids, no work, just me, my friends, the lake, and maybe some beers. I really need it. I have been so busy these last few weeks. My accounting practice has really been blossoming over these last few months. It is almost at the point where I am going to have to quit my day job to keep up with the work (which is what I am really going for). I have been putting like 60 to 65 hours a week in between work and my accounting practice. If that wasn’t enough, my cousin and I have just purchased a dry cleaning company. It has been established since 1951, but has probably seen better days. We are hoping to clean it up and get it back to the best dry cleaner in our area. Needless to say, my training and diet have really been suffering over these last few weeks. I have been getting my workouts in, but my diet has really been lackluster at best. I am hoping that this trip I am going on will relieve some unwanted stress, and get me back on track. Actually, I plan on trying to really lean down over these next few months (so diet will have to be on track).

No sleep again

Monday, August 20th, 2007

This is getting ridiculous. I haven’t been sleeping very well over the last month. It got so bad that I had to call my doctor for a sleep aid. Well, last night I tried to sleep without using it, and the last thing I know the clock said 3:30 and I was still awake. I must have dozed off finally, but my alarm went off at 6, so I am dragging a$$ today. I did go the gym and complete my workout, but it was lackluster at best.

Back at it!

Monday, August 13th, 2007

Today was the first day at the gym in over a week. I have to admit that it took all that I had to get out of bed and hit the gym. I felt good once I got going, but it was the getting going that really took a lot out of me. My workout was pretty good. I actually was surprised that I pretty much was even with where I left off at.

Vacation was good, but not that relaxing. Try taking a 3 and a 1 year old to the beach, and tell me how relaxing it is. I ate really bad, drank a lot, and did not exercise all week. I bet I gained five pounds over vacation.

Anyway it is good back on track.
