Did I meet my November 1 goals?

Today is the day that I had set for my short term goals. Well, I did okay in some areas, but failed in others. My first goal was to get down to 185lbs. Well, that didn’t happen, as I weighed in today at 197. It looks like I failed miserably at this one. I had set my squat numbers to 350, which I had no problem hitting. Actually I got 335 for six reps today, so I am sure I can get 350 for one with ease. I set 250 orm as my bench goal. The jury is still out on this one. I did get 230 for 3 on Monday, but am not sure if I could put up 250 for one or not. I think I can be happy with my progress here, because I think I could probably push the 250 for one if I had to. Finally, I set my military or shoulder press goal at 175 orm. This one was a bit out of reach for me. I switched exercises from a sit down mil press to stand up mil press half way through my progression. I really had to back off on the weight here for some reason. Doing stand ups, I cannot push nearly the weight that I can while doing sit downs. Another reason or excuse for my failure here can have to do with the fact that I am incorporating triceps in with my shoulders. For example, I will do a set of military presses, take a 30 second break, then  hit the tris, take a 60 break, and go back to military presses. Enough excuses, I failed. All in all, I guess I only hit 50% of my goals…… Time for some new ones.

On another note, Halloween was last night, and my diet really suffered. I could not resist the sweet taste of that chocolate. Once I got a hold of one piece, I had another, and another, and another. It was not a good scene, and the satisfaction only lasted about five minutes. Anyway, I guess I am back to square one with the diet, as usual.

It looks to me like there is progress to celebrate. Thats right there are a lot of successes here. Yes, you still have work to do. This lifestyle is continuous. Clean up the diet. Its a new day and so far everything is going wonderfully.

Hey Bud! Make sure that your goals are attainable so that you have a good chance of hitting them and not being disapointed. You were off your weight goal by 12 lbs? Unless you are starving yourself (I hope you not) you can’t exept to lose more then 4-8 lbs a month max and still maintain LBM. Daretosoar is right. Focus on your successes and reevaluate where you fell short. Reset them for November and go for it!

    Hey Monk,
You are very self-aware and I know you’ll set the right goals in the future knowing what you do now. I hope you get excited about the next month ahead of you- so much potential- especially for someone as talented and smart as you.

Just reevaluate and find out what is it that’s not working for you, and redo your diet/workout. I have read and found formyself that you there’s only 2 modes. loos weight or gain weight. very difficult to gain myscle and loos bodyfat at the same time. And I read that it’s almost impossible to increase strength while dieting. You’re body need the extra calories to gain muscles, and increase strength… Good luck.
