12 weeks til Race Day!
It seems like a long way away until the big race but really it’s not! Right now there are some days that I feel like I should be going for the Marathon and not "just" the Half in June. Then I think to myself…. if I give 100% on racing in the Half I might just set a personal record. My goal is to be under 2 hours, my best time right now is 1:56 which was 5 years ago. I remember the day well… it was the best feeling to cross the finish line, look at the timer and see my time under 2 hours. I want that feeling again and I am working hard to get there.
Keeping my eating on track and under control is my biggest challenge right now and I know exactly why… stress at work makes me eat "mindlessly" and completely out of convenience. I am getting a handle on that.
One of my favorite phrases come to mind…
"U Turns are permitted" - I think I wrote a blog entry about that a while back… that phrase helps remind me that whenever we get off track we can make a "U Turn" at any point and go a different direction with our training. It’s never too late to make a change.
I am keeping that in mind today. And I hope you take time to think about what that might mean to you and how you might be able to relate.

PS Because I am training as part of Team in Training for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society I am working on the fundraising component as well. I have currently raised about $700 for the cause… my goal is $2000. I have a few other events planned that I feel confident will bring in the funds for this great cause. It’s very exciting to be a part of something bigger than myself.
