I am addicted

My wife brought to my attention that we had a check from our escrow account in the form of a refund. Great I thought. She told me she wants to get me some shirts to wear….and a nice one for the pictures we are getting done this weekend. I kind of looked up at her and replied,"I would rather get some more protein for me and some gym shoes for you." Her eyes got huge and she said,"ARE YOU SERIOUS? YOU WOULD RATHER BUY PROTEIN THAN CLOTHES?" Of course I looked up in confusion and was like,"YEAH!" She then told me I was addicted and it was time for an intervention. I AM NOT ADDICTED!!! I CAN QUIT WHENEVER I WANT! She’s the one that’s crazy! LOL

there you go! I said it! I am a gym slut! I will work out with anybody! I announced the fact that I was a gym slut today and ohh the reaction! I have a few more workout partners I can mooch off of through the week! Nothing like a free ride huh?….I mean spot!! LOL!!!

Today was chest day! Went away from dumbells today for the good stuff and started with flat bench press. Did 5 sets staggered! The off to incline…Just 4 sets of that (straight sets). Then did incline and flat cable flies. 3×10 each! At the end was the killer!!!! One drop set with dumbells on a flat bench. Started with 75 pounds and grunted to a staggering 35 pounds! I looked cool trying to get the baby weight up! For people that were just getting to the gym, the looked at me like "Does this look right?" Who cares! Keep pushin! Back tomorrow!!!

Finally got a good leg workout in! How do you know that you say?…..Well, on my last set, it took everything I had to keep from puking! Aww yeah! Gotta love squats! I went back to 5×5 today. I will do that all week and then switch to something else next week. I was a little nervous about legs today cause I had the craps all day! Yeah I know…TMI….But it’s my blog so I don’t care! LOL!! On another note, I managed 325 pound calf raises. 4×25! Talk about a burn! It’s like I always say…It’s only weight….lift it!

chest-a different approach

I hit chest last night and used a little bit of a stressmonkey approach! Thanks bro! First off, I started with flat dumbell presses. Moved on to incline dumbell presses. After which I did some cable flies. To finish things off, I did 6 sets of 15-20 pushups I started off with 3 sets of elevated pushups and finished with regular pushups. I had a lot of trouble getting through my last 4 sets of pushups! LOL!!! Maybe I can work my way up to 500 like mr stressmonkey!! LOL

The former Arnold Classic champion and bodybuilding legend Flex Wheeler is on the verge of another comeback to the bodybuilding stage as a complete natural in an attempt to make statement of his unbelievable and superior genetic potential.

Several years ago, Flex was forced into retirement following kidney failure in which he needed a transplant to save his life. A donor from his church kindly stepped forward and Flex stepped back from bodybuilding as a competitor but moved on as a successful photo and editorial journalist. “I want to see what I can bring to the table as a drug free bodybuilder. The only thing that is holding me back is knowing there would be people relishing the chance to gloat if they beat me, which is bound to happen with my handicap,” said a healthy appearing Wheeler.

Various people, including his former trainer Charles Glass, have been quick to point out that Flex shouldn’t burn his candle at both ends and keep his legendary status where it is – in the past, and his health for the future

I don’t know how this looks to bodybuilding fanatics but I applaud Flex Wheeler for what he is doing! Can you imagine what kind of impact this could have on "natural" bodybuilding? I believe this could impact the sport in a better way! What are your thoughts?

BACK with a vengeance!

I got the OK from the doc today to go back to the gym! I figured what better way to celebrate then by working my favorite body part….BACK!! Needless to say, the grip thing really got to me. My right hand gave out while my left was still strong. I finished up anyways. I started off with deadlifts, but the way. I am shooting for 405 pound deadlift 5 times for the bash! I did my warm-up and then moved to 225. No prob. Then 315 with no prob. The to 365…my grip started giving there. My buddy told me to try 405 to see where I stand with my goal. I couldn’t lift it….I was pissed. We dropped it to 385 and I guess I overworked trying to get that 405 and couldn’t grip that at all. I got one! Damn hand! I finished the night up with T-bar rows (225lbs), lat pulldowns (drop set from 190lbs. to 45lbs.!) Dumbell pullovers (90lbs.), neutral grip pulldowns (155lbs.), finished up with one set to failure of chin-ups. My back is tight as h*ll so I know I did something right. I am really pissed about those deads though! Guess I’ll train for a few weeks and try again! Tomorrow the plan is chest. Wednesday-legs, Thurs-shoulders, Friday-arms. I am going to try to hold myself to starting HIIT tomorrow! I know I have said that for a few weeks now! Did I mention I hate cardio? LOL!! I need to get some progress pics up! I still haven’t posted a starting point for the bash!!!

I know I have not written in a few days. Truth be told, I have been a little down here lately. I have not been to the gym in a week. It’s not really my fault per say. At work, I run a job that was causing some quality problems. We have a group of engineers that re-processed the job hoping to solve out quality dilemma.  First, it did not work! Second, they did not think about any ergonomic issues with what they were doing. Of course, I ran the job first and immediately noticed that it was hurting my hand. Since i am in production, I could not just stop working. Any problems that we noticed that day would be reported to the proper authorities and addressed at another time. Basically, I was stuck running that job more than once along with my other co-workers. It was so bad I skipped the gym to let my hand rest. I got up one morning and noticed my hand was swollen. I reported it at work and filled out an investigative report to determine why my hand was swollen. Behold, what I told them the first five minutes I was on that job was correct. In fact, there are five other people than myself having the same problem. I had to sit and speak with a physical therapist at work and she basically told me that I could not work out until cleared by her. I argued that I could run, do squats, bench (maybe), shoulders (maybe) and abs. She wouldn’t hear it. I then told her that if I couldn’t hold the weight, I had some straps I could use! She thought I was insane! I was like,"I have to get sexy for July!!!" I guess I lost her then. Hell, she is a therapist and still thinks I am weird for going to the gym. The guys at the gym immediately knew something was wrong because I was not there. I only miss for a dam* good reason. I may have to sneak to my friends house. He is training for strong man competitions and has some stuff in his garage. It’s not what I would normally do but beggars can’t be choosers….right? Plus, maybe it’s the shock I need to spark some more growth!

I had a plumber come over today to see if he could find the ring in the pipes. I am not sure how many times my son flushed the toilet since the ring went down but there was no luck! I guess it’s time to start shopping for anew one   :(      I skipped the gym last night to be up when the plumber got here. I’ll have to play make up the rest of the week    :(

I am not sure why but my son lately has been acting bad for some attention I guess. We have the new baby and maybe he is feeling neglected? I play with him every day! I barely get to hold my daughter….I don’t know how to discipline him without making it seem like I don’t love him as much as my daughter. He found my wife’s wedding ring last night (it fell off her finger in the bed while she was playing with him) and flushed it down the toilet! A $2000 ring! When confronting him about it, he said it was dirty and I needed to buy her a new one! I am not sure how to react but my wife is devastated. I am trying something new now. I make him look me dead in the eye when I am yelling at him. He has a tendency to look away. He tears up when I do this but I have to suck it up. I don’t want my little boy being a little terror! Any insight from any parents out there?
