Work out was good today, 15 minutes of Abs, 15 minutes of arms with dumb bells and 15 minutes of legs.  This is a class that they have at gym where I work. Before class I got my blood pressure checked and body fat checked.  BP was high.  Not good at all.  Going to wait a week and have it checked again.  Body fat was good; 12.7 percent, if I ate better I would be even leaner.

4.5 mile run today.  Weather was nice 40s and sunny.  Tomorrow is arms/abs/legs.  Where I work they have fitness classes so I do this class twice a week, yoga once a week and on days I’m not running I try to do a cardio class.

I’ve been doing yoga on Thursdays, it helps keep my legs loose, I’m trying to incorporate some of the moves into my pre-run stretching.  I get a hard time from co-workers, I’m usually the only man in the class, so you can guess what the other guys say my motivation for attending is.  But it isn’t like that.  I got a massage earlier in the year and the masseuse told me to relax, I said I was, and she pointed out that my hamstrings were tight as drums.  That’s when I decided I better find a better way of stretching.

Much cooler today, 30’s,  ran 4 miles inside on a track.  Not sure about tomorrows workout, it is suppose to be sunny and 40’s so I might run outside,  I really need to do a back and chest workout though. Maybe I’ll try to squeeze that in tonight still.

Getting a body fat check on Tuesday, it will be interesting to see what it is.

Wow! It is 63 degrees in N. E. Ohio.  Can’t beat this weather for Dec.  Just a few days ago it was 10!  Went out and ran 7 miles.  There is a great park that has a 3.5 out and back.  You start out in wet lands then through a park then into another wet lands then turn around and come back.  There are some down falls though, since part of it is wetlands the path was covered with about 6 inches of ice cold water in 3 different places.  Also in the summer there is very little shade, I tried to run 21 miles during the summer when it was 84 degrees.  Yeah, I’m a dumb ass.  I only made it 9 before I had drank all the gatoraide in my camelbak and was getting leg cramps.

Todays run was good though,  I forgot my watch so I don’t know my pace, I took it easy, maybe 8:45 - 9 pace, not really sure but that is what it felt like.  I signed up for the Cleveland 1/2 marathon in May.  That will be a good training run to keep me focused for the Urbanathalon.

Welcome!

I have two goals;  compete in the Mens Health Urbanathalon in 2009 and also do a 1/2 Ironman.

The Urbanathalon is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time.  I want to do more then participate though.  I want to actually compete.  Make some of the other 40+ guys out there take notice.

The 1/2 ironman is going to be a bit more difficult since I don’t know how to swim.  But I can learn.  Just finding the time to get lessons is the hard part.
