Couple more weeks of cutting. Then I am scheduled to start bulking

June 29, 2007

Yes, all is still well with me with the cutting and my low impact cardio program. My friend Mr. Harris was wondering since I have not posted anything since June 23. All is well.

My brother has me scheduled to start bulking in a few weeks(like I stated before I am no bodybuilder so when I say bulking it is conservative(moderate) and is catered around my goals). Yes I understand that many cut for many weeks but he decided that a couple more weeks so that would put me at about 8 weeks of cutting. This was my first cutting phase. Like I stated before I am new to all of this so be patient with me if I seem too basic.-WINK- My brother mentioned to me that he will shock the hell out of my body and I will be hitting uppers and lowers. So I am getting ready for that.. I am down 5 pounds since June 25th and if you ask me if I am happy with my results regarding my fat loss and definition, well I just expect more fat loss but my brother said that when I cut in September I will see even more fat loss and more definition so I have to be more patient. After all being a beginner I cannot expect miracles overnight(but would love them lol)…So yes, I would like to see more fat loss and I will continue to see that and continue to stay motivated..My brother is not around me 24 hours to hold me accountable(that is my job all alone & no one else) So, I am getting it done.. I pray for stength to get me through my hard days with cutting and my hard days(like on Wednesday it was so hard( and so hot and humid)I may have overheated and or overworked myself I was just so very tired when I was outside on the track.. So I will watch that, no need for getting a heat stroke.. Well, until next time..

Everyone drink your water and drink enough…

Talk to you later..

FINALLY, A DAY OFF…?? TO RELAX?

June 23, 2007

Hello, to you..

My brother told me that taking a day or two off will only benefit me. I know even a week off helps but for me it is a hard thing to do. I feel so so very guilty. Well, today was the day that I did just that. I believe that I deserve a day off (and it has been 16 days since my last day off) but the guilt of it all makes me anxious. Usually, around this time I would be 20 minutes into my afternoon workout and so sitting here on the computer really makes me feel guilty. My calories yesterday was 1290 and today it will be the same. So my cutting is doing well and my workout program but knowing that I should be working out right this minute really bugs me. I did my abs today but still not the same feeling as actually doing my regular workout program.. Okay, I will just keep telling myself that I do deserve this day off and accept the fact that I am doing well with my cutting and exercise and leave it alone…Because you know why….??? My regular program will begin again tomorrow and believe it or not I miss it..LOL

Okay, I am done with my rambling…LOL

I thought a day off was a day to relax? Oh well… I am hard on myself and so beit..My journey continues on to reach that size 8…I MUST GET THERE BY OCTOBER 15TH….SIMPLY PUT..THE HARDER I AM ON MYSELF THE MORE POSITIVE THE OUTCOME…Well, okay, that is how I feel about it..LOL

FDA NEW SAFETY RULES…JUST FOR YOUR INFORMATION

June 22, 2007

FDA issues new safety rules for vitamins

By KEVIN FREKING, Associated Press Writer 1 hour, 10 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - For the first time, manufacturers of vitamins, herbal pills and other dietary supplements will have to test all of their products’ ingredients. The Food and Drug Administration said Friday it is phasing in a new rule that is designed to address concerns that existing regulations allowed supplements onto the market that were contaminated or didn’t contain ingredients claimed on the label.

Last year, the agency found that some supplements contained undeclared active ingredients used in prescription drugs for erectile dysfunction. In the past, regulators found supplements that didn’t contain the levels of Vitamin C or Vitamin A that were claimed.

If, upon inspection, the FDA finds that supplements do not contain the ingredients they claim, the agency would consider the products adulterated or misbranded. In minor cases, the agency could ask the manufacturer to remove an ingredient or revise its label. In more serious cases, it could seize the product, file a lawsuit or even seek criminal charges.

Dietary supplements — pills, liquids or other products — are a $22 billion industry.

Most companies already test their raw ingredients, said Steve Mister, president and CEO for the Council for Responsible Nutrition, a trade association representing about 65 manufacturers.

“This raises the bar so that all have to comply,” Mister said.

The new rule goes into effect Aug. 24 and will have a three-year phase-in that gives smaller manufacturers more time to comply. Even the largest of the manufactures won’t have to comply until June 2008.

The rule applies to all domestic and foreign companies that manufacture, package and label supplements for sale in the U.S. It requires them to analyze the identity, purity and strength of all the ingredients that go into their products before they are distributed.

It also includes requirements for record keeping and handling consumer complaints.

Dr. Sidney Wolfe, who has testified before Congress on problems with dietary supplements, said the new rule does not ease his concern that unsafe supplements are too easy to bring to market.

“You still don’t have to show the product is safe. You don’t have to prove it works,” said Wolfe, director of Public Citizen’s Health Research Group.

Consumers Union, publisher of Consumer Reports, called the rule a good step toward improving consistency in the ingredients that go into supplements.

“However, consumers still have no idea if a given product works, or whether it is dangerous,” said Janell Mayo Duncan, senior counsel for Consumers Union, publisher of Consumer Reports.

Congress limited the Food and Drug Administration’s oversight of vitamins and other dietary supplements in 1994. The new rule is a product of that law, meaning that the rule took nearly 13 years to develop.

Under the old regulations, supplements were governed by the same rules that applied to producing foods, such as cans of soup.

“The final rule will help ensure that dietary supplements are manufactured with controls that result in a consistent product free of contamination, with accurate labeling,” said Dr. Robert E. Brackett, director of FDA’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition.

UPDATE: Increased water intake to 260 + ounces throughout the day..

June 21, 2007

WATER..A beautiful thing…Are you drinking enough?

When I first started my weight program I was drinking about 160 ounces per day throughout the day and now a year later I have gradually increased(along with my workout program and activites which demands a greater need for more water intake) to 260 + throughout the day. I usually take in 40 ounces during my early morning workout, 80 ounces between the hours of 7AM-11AM,60 ounces between 11AM-2PM (which is 20 ounces per hour),40 ounces during my outside track run,40 ounces between 2PM-5PM,40 ounces between 5PM-8PM…Yes, since I go to bed early I do have to make those special trips to the bathroom during the night…-wink- But as you know, even if I get all my water intake in  two or three hours before bedtime, it really is up to the body (when it decides to release water) so believe me when I was drinking half of my present water intake I still continued make those special bathroom trips during the night..  IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO SPREAD OUT YOUR WATER INTAKE ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE LIKE ME AND REQUIRE MUCH THROUGHOUT THE DAY….TOO MUCH IN A VERY SHORT TIIME MAY LEAD TO WATER INTOXICATION…

We all know the benefits of water and how very, very important it is PERIOD..Especially when it comes to weight loss and training and also the weather… I myself was taken back when I added up my daily water intake. I did not think I would be up to an intake of a little over two gallons a day but I am there. Not only does the water do so much good for the body it also does great for the skin not to mention flushing the body of fat and toxins. Even when we eat clean, are bodies still are prone to toxins, whether it be from the air we breathe, the   atmosphere we live in to the food we eat. So a consistent water intake on a daily basis is a requirement to good health and a must to incorporate in your weight, diet and training program…I know some of you carry around gallons of water but for me I prefer my bottled water(20 oz). Yes, that means I go through 13 (20oz) bottles or more a day and because of the weather being hot and humid more is needed when I run on the outside track. If you look at my weight program schedule you will see that much water is essential…..DRINKING WATER THROUGHOUT THE DAY,SPREADING IT OUT IS FINE & WORKS VERY WELL FOR ME AND MY PROGRAM..

Yes, you may think that it is easier for me to carry around a gallon here and there but I am just more content with the bottles than the gallons-wink-…

So my question to you is…..

ARE YOU DRINING ENOUGH WATER? Add it up and find out…

Oh, by the way, I do not go by the suggested norms of how much water an individual should be drinking I go ABOVE and beyond…BUT SENSIBLY SPREAD OUT MY WATER…

Well, talk to you later..

A new cardio routine to incorporate in my program….SPRINTING..

June 19, 2007

Hello to all…

I have been reading and researching on the benefits of sprinting and wasnt really all prepared to incorporate at any time soon…UNTIL that is yesterday..

Well, of course my day started out normal (you know) with my early morning workout followed with a 6 hour break in between leading up to my afternoon workout.. Well, I got on the track and was hoping to run 1.2 miles but my legs were so tired from my morning workout and the rest/pause I did on Sunday I decided to just sprint hard for as long as I possibly could and with a minute rest in between..Before I knew it I was sprinting for about 40 minutes and could have continued but there was a funnel cloud in the area and the alarms went off so I got out of dodge and told myself that I would sprint again today….So, today is here and I am not as sore as I thought I would be after my morning workout so therefore  my afternoon workout will be sprinting for about 30-40 minutes with one minute break in between &  I will also do a non-stop circuit ab session with my brother… Oh goody, another day to push myself to the limit… The countdown to size 8 continues…….

~Increased my cardio by adding more running on outside track

~I still continue with my same early morning workout(increasing intensity and or duration every 3-4 weeks on the treadmill(high and or low impact) SINCE CUTTING I HAVE BEEN CONCENTRATING ON LOW IMPACT FOR A HIGHER PERCENTAGE OF FAT BURN),My second workout still continues to be on the outside track(high and or low impact),Some weight training with my brother( I AM NOT A BODYBUILDER SO I DO WEIGHT TRAINING OR ISOMETRICALLY TRAINING 2-3 TIMES A WEEK)SINCE CUTTING I HAVE CUT BACK ON WEIGHT TRAINING AND INCREASED CARDIO ON THE LOW IMPACT SIDE) WE WILL START BACK WITH OUR NORMAL WEIGHT TRAINING PROGRAM WHEN I (SOMEWHAT GO ON A BULKING STAGE)….AGAIN I AM NOT BODYBUILDER I STAY MODERATE WITH WEIGHT TRAINING….

MY FIRST DAY OF CUTTING…THE GRANOLA BAR THAT GOT AWAY..

May 29, 2007

Okay I just had my dinner which consisted of 2 grilled vegetable boca burgers (at 80 calories each) and dressing only 40 calories this time because……………I realized I did not record the granola bar I ate right before my afternoon track workout…..so therefore I went over my calories by 200. I should have only had 1200 calories today and with that being said I feel like a loser on my first day of cutting. I should have remembered to record that granola bar..darn it… Oh well, that just means that tomorrow on my second day of cutting I should take in only 1000 calories..Can I do it? Well because I am so hard on myself I will try like heck to get it done..What I will tell myself is that I screwed up the day before and so today I have to fight through it like a soldier and deal with the 1000 calorie day…I will report back to you all tomorrow to let you know how it went…Yes, as you can see I have to be hard on myself or else I wont get to where I want to be…

1000 calories here I come….Stick around…LOL
