Newest Contributing Writer for INSIDE FITNESS MAGAZINE!!

It is with great pleasure to announce that I will be brought on with Inside Fitness Magazine as Contributing Writer. I am so humbled to have been asked to become part of such a great Canadian Fitness Magazine, and to have my voice heard by it’s loyal readers. In future upcoming issues I will be speaking about topics in fitness, training, competitions and life in general!

My passion of the fitness industry has always been first and foremost, and I want to thank Terry Frendo personally for recognizing this and having asked me to come on board! Canada is at it’s highest point in the fitness industry right now, and IFM is right there covering it all!

I look forward to sharing my thoughts with my fellow Canadians and working among the best in the industry with Inside Fitness Magazine!

5 WEEKS OUT!!!

Well it’s 5 weeks out, and I must say those little details are defo coming in!!!! I received my new training program and meal plan from my coach at the beginning of the week…..and it’s pretty bad when you see new plyos and get excited!! lol

I must say though, what a difference it makes in your training to not be stressed out all the time!!! The last time I had competed, I had an unsuportive bf who made life a daily chore of walking on egg shells. In only a short 2 months I had shelled out about $900 just on food and entertainment on my cheat days just to try to make HIM happy!!! WTF was I thinking???!!! I remember having an argument on the phone and driving and almost getting into an accident all because of him not wanting me to compete!! I had managed to drive to the gym where my trainer was working out of at the time….and being in there balling and just pouring my heart out as to why he couldn’t understand my passion and why he had to cause me so much stress, when he knew what it was like to train and diet (he had decided competing wasn’t for him).

NOW….couple of years forward we go, and I am with someone who also shares my love of competing, trains with me, encourages me, supports me……and I’ve noticed my body has responded SO WELL!!! My coach slyly mentioned this and he’s so right!! haha

It’s such a refreshing change to have that support, and not have to worry about defending my decision to compete once again!!!

Bodybuilding is such a selfish sport and if you have read one of my previous blogs, you will see that I was questioning it’s effect on a relationship and if it is truly worth it.  If something is your PASSION then it is WORTH IT!!! Even if someone doesn’t agree with your passion but they support YOU, then that is all you need!!!!

Never give up on a passion, just keep on at it!!

SWINE FLU :S

Wow, crazy news going on! Hard to think what can come of all this!? I hope things get under control! So it’s now just over 9 weeks out for me, and I did catch some sort of cold but not the swine flu thank God!! But ya, never seems to fail as soon as I’m training the ole immune system decides to let some viruses get by and cause problems! Been coughing for about 4 days now…..seems to not be getting any worse now that I’m on the 4th day….so hopefully it will be getting better soon! Other than that REALLY happy my legs are coming in great and I still have so much time!!! Looks like I may end up with some good muscle gains since my last comp also when the day finally arrives…maybe a 4 pound muscle gain….not too shabby for all natural sweat, and hard work!! ;)

Cheat!!!

So, my trainer authorized a cheat day for me! had it on sunday! I took notice if my weight changed and energy levels in the gym…. and according to him, my body reacted nicely! So now I am going to have a regular cheat day as my body is ready for it now! I had 2 croissants with homemade strawberry jam, cheese stick, potato chips, hot fudge sundae, slice of pizza…..all though I still had my healthy meals in between! lol Strength is still going up with every workout! The changes in my body are really noticeable now! I’m happy I took the year off!!

Less than 12 weeks out!!

Training has been going awesome! Started dieting and training for my competition 18 weeks out. I will be competing at the World Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation this July 4th in Calgary Alberta!! So stoked to be back on stage after over a year off!!! There has been some big changes though with all that time off! Been able to pack on the muscle since I basically lived in the gym after some personal issues. I’ll basically be able to coast right into the competition and am as confidant as ever!! My boyfriend has been a huge help on keeping me motivated and sharing the same goals, and I love him for it!!

So seems like life has a way of throwing you curve balls when you can’t possibly think you would get any more…..but ya do!

It’s almost the end of 08 and I can’t say I’m sad it’s over, it’s been one helluva a crazy year for me…..had the bf of 5 years break up with me…..even though seeing I was at the top of the most viewed profile here on BB.com…….it wasn’t enough to help stop the tears on NYE.   I got so much support from you all on here about it and it helped me get through it…I basically lived in the gym from that point as it was the only thing that could help take my mind off of things. I got laid off from one of my beloved jobs……and had to adjust and go into fight or flight and adjust with my new life.  Needless to say I had no focus whatsoever to compete or even step onstage with out the fear of doing it "alone".
Summer was ok, but I didn’t feel like I was still healed, had some turbulence…..and now at almost the year’s end can I say I am completely healed. I have a new perspective, a new bf with like minded goals and a love of the sport, my job that’s my passion BACK, a revamped training schedule, a local sponsor, a new year and a new competition season!!!!

I couldn’t be happier to tell you the truth and I am so excited and so thankful for all the support I received from you’s on here! You know who you are!!

Checked out my calves in the mirror today…I’m finally seeing some growth back there! I’ve been hammering em twice a week about 3 days apart, and just doing everything different all the time! For the most part I’ve been doing 4 sets of 20-25 reps with 45-60 sec rest in between…..and in between sets I’ll do calve raises in a squatted position till I can’t do anymore, then I go on to my next set! I make sure to always change up my foot positions frequently to keep em guessing! I’m so happy!!!
