sacrifices …
Life is full of sacrifices. Things you have to give up in exchange to get more of what you want. I remember when it was going out to party and drink my ass off so I could get my time in the gym. Other times it was skipping out on class because it got in the way of my gym time (that didn’t happen too often though). It took so much effort to get to the level of progress I’ve made in the weight room at an attempt to be the super athlete, or well, to at least look like one which I think I’ve done a pretty good job and am so close.
However, today I realized that about four weeks ago I sacrificed something else and have been in constant denial. However, it wasn’t for the gym but for business. I figure that if I just work my ass off to get everything off the ground, I’ll be able to go to the gym when I REALLY want to, not when my work/life/gym schedule permit it. So nope, weights are only done when I get a chance every few weeks or so. So what do I do in the mean time.
calisthenics … I pull out the deck of cards, pull the card, and do the number on it. Go ahead and pull the next one. Its been a bummer as of recent but I think its going to work out rather well.
We’ll see though. Man, sacrificing the gym for other life goals. Seems so … wrong on so many levels but its oh so right.

Depending on what you’re doing, you may be able to do both business stuff and hit the gym hard. You’ll be super busy, and might have to make time in your schedule for it that you wouldn’t otherwise, but it can happen.
In the meantime, keep up those calisthenics, and reach for your goals.

I hear what you’re saying, however, I think that too many people see the gym as an add-on to their life, when it should really be an extension. Like religion, the gym, working out, and eating right, are a lifestyle, and should be treated as such. Think about it like this, in the short term it may seem like your making time for something not very necessary, something that you can stop and start when it’s the "right time", but in the long run, you’ll be glad that you didn’t skip out on it. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that you’re skipping out on the gym altogether, I’m just saying try and look it things from another angle. Good luck, and I hope you figure things out!

That sounds like my week! Sometimes it has to be done cause life ultimately dictates. Your doing the right thing though, finding alternate ways rather than stopping completely.

Hey Miked,
Glad you’re still incorporating the calisthenics. You know if you invest in some free weights for the house maybe a set of 10 or 15lbs you can add them into your calisthenic workout for a short circuit to polish all those muscles. Maybe a few quick chest presses/rows/curls/extensions/lunges, etc. and it’ll make your calisthenics that much more effective. If you can burn and firm at the same time, why not. You can do a lot in 30 min.
