Blog Entry

Well, friday was back and biceps and yesterday was legs.

All in all, they were great workouts.  Even though they were extremely short and to the point.  EXTREMELY short.  Yesterday was really just 2 sets of squats and 2 sets of leg press.  I don’t know what my training partner and I did to make something so simple so painful, but of course we’re both still pumped and sore from a leg workout over 24 hours ago.  :-)

NUTS I say but I’m enjoying it.

I wish I could think of something clever …

So the shoulder problem I mentioned a few weeks ago has plagued me the past two weeks.  Other than that workouts have been going well (with the exception of last week as my training partner and I had to journey out of town to give away scholarships and all types of things non-bodybuilding related happened).  Well, monday I went to visit an applied kiniesiologist (sp?)  who I thought was a chiropractor to check up on that.  I don’t know what happened.

After what seemed to be a bunch of chiropractics mixed with eastern medicine, my shoulder seemed to have worked.  I got prescribed an expensive supplement with manganese and my dosing was based off of a meridian time of day flow.  I only know about this stuff from my foray into martial arts and the mysticism behind it.  If someone can make my shoulder work for pushups and bench presses just by placing things in meridians, then I guess I really should be careful since I know how to kill people with my bare hands. Wow, I was supposed to have left this place by now.

So yesterday was bench day and well, my pre-injury numbers are back as if that means anything.  Even though I did incline as opposed to flat.  Maybe I should go back to just doing incline anyway.

I think I’ll write more when I get to the office.

Later and sorry that this post was so damned boring.

wowsers indeed …

handstand pushups …

I’ve been attempting them for the past two days to no avail.  Getting into the handstand is the hard part.  Oh well, it gets better.  Later.

hilarity ensues … where did my strength go?!?!?

Today was the first day of shock week.  The first shock week since I returned to the gym this year.  Well, lets just say things didn’t go as planned.

My training partner got down on the bench, did his flyes with his normal weight and did bench press with his normal weight.  Everything was fine.  I got down on the bench, did my flyes with my normal weight and well, the weight that is considerable less than normal on my bench press is just … not going up.  Its actually pretty damned difficult.

"Ok, that was a warm-up.  Next time should be fine."

Boy was I in for a surprise.  Other training partner goes, repeat the process of the previous partner.  Previous partner goes.  I go, with less than what was before.  "WHAT THE HELL!?!?!?!"  Drop that down to 135.  Get 2.  "WHAT THE HELL!?!?!?  THIS ARM JUST WON’T MOVE!!!"

For fear of injury, not just to my body but my pride, I stopped before anything got worse.  Of course I laughed about it for a good 15 minutes.  Me and my training partners laughed and I got to be the butt of jokes for the rest of the night.  ;-)   Stretched it out, hung up that exercise and went on with the rest of the workout.  Which was pretty good by the way.  Just that one fluke really got to me.  My poundages didn’t have to go down on the other exercises either.

I know next time, I’m going to go through the warm-up ritual.  I can’t have this happen again.

its going …

Well, lets see.  When was the last time I posted?

Ok, so my numbers aren’t where they were before I took my break.  They’re getting closer but I’ve been concentrating on form so much its not really too much of a big deal.  Trying to fix imbalances and the like.  Yeah, my push press is pathetic but heck, its even pathetic with weight I can just military press.  Other than that, the gym has been great.  Tomorrow is the start of Shock week in the Power/Rep. Range/Shock routine my training partner and I are up to.
And well, being the supplement junkie that I am, I started anabolic pump last sunday.  I think I enjoy it but well, I’ve got a few more weeks of trial before I come to a conclusion.  I liked the first few days but well, things are kinda normal.  We’ll see though …
