Scale Trama

Ugh, why does the scale hold so much weight on my mind?

I know I’m not fat. I HATE HATE HATE the accompanied increase on my scale when I gain muscle weight. I know my muscles have got bigger and tighter, but the 10 lbs scale increase drives me bat crazy! I know I feel this way due to society and "woman thought" but how do most women overcome these feelings?

Forget the scale. Go by the mirror and how your clothes fit. I’m only around 140 lbs, but my weight can vary 3-5 lbs from day to day. With BF & muscles weighing differently, the scale can be deceiving.

And a BIG THANKS for your service. Urah! :)

I admit I’m a slave to the scale and I know it can go up a few pounds with water weight, but it drives me nuts too. I’m terrified to get on to the scale this week as I haven’t been all that good with my diet over the holidays. Normally I weigh in every morning first thing. But I’ll be really upset if its 5 lbs up. I’m trying to let go of these feelings and just keep blasting away with the training and diet (back on track now) but its an issue. I see women my height on this site who’s BF% are low and their weight is more than mine and wonder if that number will bug me when I get more muscle and lean out. Trying to let go of old measures of health are difficult.

If you feel that way then don’t weigh - or just do so once a week. Muscle weighs more, as you know, it also holds more water - try to go by how you feel and how your clothes fit.

I feel good today. The problem with being deployed is that we wear the same thing, day-on, day-out. Last year I brought one pair of jeans out, this year, I decided to just bring workout pants as my "civilian wear." Well, I’ve been feeling rather heavy, and the scale shows it, I’ve put on 10 lbs out here, but a civilian contractor friend of mine, threw a pair of pants and me and said, "Put these on… see? No muffin top, they aren’t even tight on you!" and to my surprise, when I took them off, they were a size 2. So, that solves that. Sorry for my bitchin’ I just needed a little prespective. I’m really just ansy about going home and seeing my BF again. Feelin’ like I need to be "prefect" for my return to him… sigh, I know he’ll love me regardless. Thanks for your comments. -A
