Went to see my first Bodybuilding & Figure competition today
Okay, I went to see my first bodybuilding & figure competition today. I did not stay for the whole thing but stayed through all of prejudging. Will stay through the whole thing next time. The prejudging was enough in itself and gave me the answers to the majority of questions that I was thinking about. The rest I will try & ask my question about from a judge’s point of view. The figure competitors were not exactly as I pictured them but overall it was a good showing. I expected them to be more muscular and have more definition which they didn’t. That I will work on because I do want more definition then what I saw. Some of them did have it, but not the majority. I want my quads to be visible, as well as abs and definition in arms, a lot of them just were very smooth with no visible definition. Majority of girls had back definition though. It’s funny because I envision the girls from the Oxygen magazines who are competing in figure and they are completely different. They have a great amount of muscle and defintion, more than I prefer but that is just what I like. I’m not big on a whole bunc of definition but some. So I am going and looking for the middle ground, which I think will win that competition tonight anyways because none of them had a great deal of definition but some had a decent amount. So I look forward to seeing the results and which girl won. Again, I will also ask my trainer tonight in my e-mail about this and if most of the girls look like that in general who compete. I do have a lot of work cut out for me but am very motivated at this point and hopefully I can accomplish my goals by October. I realize that these transformations don’t happen overnight and take a lot of dedication, discilipine, and motivation. I need to bring forth everything I have. Twenty-five weeks and a little less then six months is what I have to get this body competition ready. So things need to get into place.
I have the trainer in place who will hopefully have me ready, again he knows his shit but it’s up to me to get the progress in motion and complete my goals.
I have a very close friend who is fantastic with make-up who will be my person to assist me getting all dolled up the day of comp. She will also help me with posing and critique my walk or at least help me with it. Gotta get used to the heels, which I am definitely not used to in any sorts because I’m always in scrub shoes. So hooker heels it is, for pics, for vacuuming, for walking around the apartment. When school is done, I will practice walking outside and doing my poses. As comp comes closer I will look for a posing class and have my girlfriend critique me. There is also another competition in June which I will get her to go to and I will try and video tape so that I can practice and have her critique me from there or I will look online on youtube for tapes and posing techniques also.
Main thing right now is staying consistent with diet and training, the rest will fall into place. Now for my body to listen and continue to change

It’s great that you got to see part of a competition, and that your goals for yourself are higher than much of what you saw. You are doing great, and seem really focused, and have an attainable goal. Go for it, and enjoy your journey.

Isn’t amazing to see! It’s not until you are trying for it do you realize how much work these girls put into getting ready for the competition. Good for you in previewing a competition. It will help you in your journey.

Wow, thats great that you’re going to compete, I have so much respect for the people that do, I also went to a show recently and the ladies didnt have as much muscle as I thought they would have, I am going to see another one soon, so hopefully I’ll get to see more ladies that can inspire! Best wishes - I know you’ll be awesome.
