Went to see my first Bodybuilding & Figure competition today

Saturday, April 19th, 2008

Okay, I went to see my first bodybuilding & figure competition today. I did not stay for the whole thing but stayed through all of prejudging. Will stay through the whole thing next time. The prejudging was enough in itself and gave me the answers to the majority of questions that I was thinking about. The rest I will try & ask my question about from a judge’s point of view. The figure competitors were not exactly as I pictured them but overall it was a good showing. I expected them to be more muscular and have more definition which they didn’t. That I will work on because I do want more definition then what I saw. Some of them did have it, but not the majority. I want my quads to be visible, as well as abs and definition in arms, a lot of them just were very smooth with no visible definition. Majority of girls had back definition though. It’s funny because I envision the girls from the Oxygen magazines who are competing in figure and they are completely different. They have a great amount of muscle and defintion, more than I prefer but that is just what I like. I’m not big on a whole bunc of definition but some. So I am going and looking for the middle ground, which I think will win that competition tonight anyways because none of them had a great deal of definition but some had a decent amount. So I look forward to seeing the results and which girl won. Again, I will also ask my trainer tonight in my e-mail about this and if most of the girls look like that in general who compete. I do have a lot of work cut out for me but am very motivated at this point and hopefully I can accomplish my goals by October. I realize that these transformations don’t happen overnight and take a lot of dedication, discilipine, and motivation. I need to bring forth everything I have. Twenty-five weeks and a little less then six months is what I have to get this body competition ready. So things need to get into place.

I have the trainer in place who will hopefully have me ready, again he knows his shit but it’s up to me to get the progress in motion and complete my goals.
I have a very close friend who is fantastic with make-up who will be my person to assist me getting all dolled up the day of comp. She will also help me with posing and critique my walk or at least help me with it. Gotta get used to the heels, which I am definitely not used to in any sorts because I’m always in scrub shoes. So hooker heels it is, for pics, for vacuuming, for walking around the apartment. When school is done, I will practice walking outside and doing my poses. As comp comes closer I will look for a posing class and have my girlfriend critique me. There is also another competition in June which I will get her to go to and I will try and video tape so that I can practice and have her critique me from there or I will look online on youtube for tapes and posing techniques also.

Main thing right now is staying consistent with diet and training, the rest will fall into place. Now for my body to listen and continue to change :)

Glimpse of My New Body :)

Thursday, April 17th, 2008

Hmmm, alot on my mind but we’ll start of with this. Anybody ever have a glimpse or image of what their body will turn out to be like??? I stand in front of the mirror sometimes and try to practice posing (at this point I have no idea what I’m doing & just try to copy, lol). But when I do, I can envision what my body is going to look like. I can visually picture the areas that I’m going to tone up and gain definition, the areas that are going to perk up (yes that damn booty), and the areas that are going to slim down and release that bodyfat (damn abs, thighs, and hams). This is what I picture as I practice each pose. I have still quite a bit to be done before I even dream about stepping on to that stage and competing, but I can envision myself doing it and that’s far from where I was before.

So discipline, discipline, discipline, I need to put into action. I’ve made pretty good progress along they way but have not remained disciplined and consistent. If I can stay disciplined and consistent for the next 25wks then I will complete my goal and current dream of stepping onto that stage. Thankfully I do have a trainer in works and have already started with him. He will help me make my way to the stage but it is up to me to put in the work that needs to be completed. Two more weeks, I countdown now until the most hectic of my school schedule is over. Really the biggest thing I have been trying to focus on is getting my last term paper done. i hate writing and it get’s me stressed out. Instead I’m on here posting new pics and blogging, lol. I will get it done though. I think once that is done then my real stress will be over. I do still have some clinicals left & my finals but I am not as stressed about those things anymore. There will be plenty of time to study for the finals once clinical is done and my preceptor is very laid back so I don’t get stressed about clinicals. So once this term paper is done, the rest is pretty easy. Some online stuff but nothing brain racking, lol. So this weekend is all about the dreaded term paper.

I will also be going to see my first figure competition this weekend. Luckily it is right near where I live and will actually be hosted by Team Sully. Sully is the person that is also doing my training and diet prep for my upcoming comp in October. It’s great because he knows his sh**. I think that going to this will give me an added boost and desire and I can’t wait to see all the wonderful physiques and bodies that people have shaped. Plus I want to take a look at the suits so I can get an idea of what I would like to get. That and the posing, I have not learned to pose yet so I want to get an idea of what needs to be done.

So on to the term paper I go, uuuugggghhh. That and some more scoping out bodybuilding.com and tracker, lol. I promise I’ll work on the paper tooo. lol.

Sexy & Tasteful & then Just Damn Porn Starrish

Sunday, April 13th, 2008

Just had to spit out a few words that are creeping through my head right now. I know bodybuilding.com is known for some of it’s sexy pics. I mean we work our ass off to build these beautiful bodies & off course want to show them off. Why not, its our hard work & we want to show the rewards that are paid off by showing our physique, muscles that were built, fat that was lost, bums that were built, curves that were shaped, and pecs that were built or boobs that were "enhanced", lol. Just seems like sometimes pics transcend the line from sexy & tasteful to just damn porn starrish. Maybe it’s just me, and what one views as sexy & tasteful is not sexy to another. Who knows, I may have pics that people view as distasteful and inappropriate, lol. Luckily most of the pics I’ve seen on bodybuilding.com are of people that are showing areas that need to be improved, areas that are improving, areas that we’ve worked our ass off improving, or areas that were just damn proud of. I guess my rant is when I can see half your areola and the picture is just of your breasts, damn people come on now. Get a grip. Again just my opinion. Everyone has their own & just expressing mine. Let’s just remember that we can show some pics with every part of our body in a very tasteful & sexy way without looking like someone should be about to pop us "Mr. Goodbar" in a few minutes ;) .

Juicy cheeseburger please :)

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

Juicy cheeseburger please. That was the thought that kept going through my head as I sat down for lunch with my carrot sticks, celery, apple, and whey protein shake. Damn I would really love a cheeseburger right now, lol. It did not help that every kept staring at me at the table wondering what the hell I was eating & especially what I was drinking. Then into detail about hiring a trainer & wanting to compete in a figure competition in the fall. Everyone kept asking me what a figure competition was. Got tired of answering it. Easiest way was to say in between a bodybuilding competition & a bikini contest, lol. I’m sure a lot of people say that though. My nurse preceptor kept looking at me like I was nuts but thankfully in a somewhat good way because he looked at me like I had dedication. That made me feel better, plus as he was complaining how heavy he felt later from his meal, I thought to myself…I don’t feel like that :)    How many times in the past have I felt like that though, feels good not to. So 30 minutes on my treddy done and I’m so tired today for some reason that I could literally go to sleep right now, but think I will study a little first. Glad I got the cardio done at least…Time to go have more fruit & veggies & of course my beloved protein shake…Thoughts of a juicy cheeseburger still in my head though :)

Thank god for cheat meals :) , that will have to be my next one when the time comes :)

Working it out on Wednesday :)

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

Okay no big thing today, but I needed to add a little something something to my title, lol. Just did 30 minutes cardio on the treadmill. Again, not supposed to be overdoing anything this week so just a regular cardio workout. Still built up a good sweat though. Was going to do lower body today but will have to put it to tomorrow though, got some stuff that I need to take care of tonight, plus I don’t think that I am going to end up working tomorrow night. Hate doing per diem or what ever you want to call it at my other job. They don’t book you half the time & then want you to work when it’s last minute. I like knowing that I’m working at least a week in advance to prepare myself mentally for the week & just to prepare for life in general. So tomorrow will be legs & another 30 minutes of some type of cardio:) Eating today was still protein, carb, & veggies but protein was only eggs or whey shakes. Starting to feel a lot better again, now that I’ve gotten some of the crap out of my system, lol. Have to say that I’m glad that I didn’t gain everything bad, when I used to be bad, I would always gain back and then some. So it was nice not to see 170 again:). Now to see 160 would really make me smile. It’s funny, last time I think about 160 was when I went to my 10 year high school reunion & I remember thinking, I can’t believe I’m going there so fat, because I had gained over 30lbs then, go figure, that I’d be wishing for the 160’s now, lol. We do it to ourselves, so it’s up to us to reverse it. It feels great to watch the scale come down & to start to see & feel changes. God it feels great to feel positive again :)

Tuesday done :)

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

Okay so Tuesday workout done. Nothing fancy, just upper body & 30 minutes on the elliptical crosstrainer. Used the elliptical before but not the crosstrainer version. Didn’t go crazy because he wanted me to go at a moderate intensity & not overdoing it. My legs were burning when I left though, man does it work those quads:) …So diet today is basically what I’ve been having, which is easy for me. Six meals, protein, complex carb, & veggies. No complex carb on meal 5 & 6. So getting back in the swing of things & feeling fantastic. Now gotta get my a** up & eat something :) . Gonna go through and look at pics of figure competitors from OCB comps to. Gets me motivated and helps me know what I want to and don’t want to look like on stage :) , lol.

Diet & Training info in.

Monday, April 7th, 2008

Okay so I got my new diet & training info in today. Will start tomorrow which actually is perfect timing for me. I have a simulation at school tomorrow for my nursing program & can’t wait to get it over with. So I will be able to go straight to the gym on the way home, will just have to pack the bags. He has me down for about five weeks with the first week kind of readjusting my body and getting rid of the crap from my body & getting my metabolism on target. The next four weeks are basically my maintenance diet. Basically around the same foods which I was already eating so it’s great. The exercises & routines do not seem to bad, but again it’s only the beggining and he’s just adjusting my body & building me up, so it’s good. Works in well with my school & work schedule because he’s not overtaxing me so I am really happy about everything. Well, shall post tomorrow night & have info how everything went :) >

Trying to spark some motivation

Saturday, April 5th, 2008

Well my motivation is unfortunately low right now. I feel exhausted & depleted & I wish that I could say that it is from working out. Instead I think it’s from my poor diet that I’ve had over the week. What went from Chinese food the day before the b-day to eat whatever the hell you want on the b-day continued on during the week. I’ve gained weight but luckily don’t feel like a fat slob quite yet :) . Posted my new pics & luckily they don’t look too far off from the last ones. Funny thing though, ate like crap during the week & everyone kept telling me that I looked like I lost weight when I went into work on Thursday night (LOL, where the hell were you guys before, J/K, it did make me feel better though). So my BCAA & my fish oil came in yesterday, so I think I’m ready for game plan now. Still waiting on my diet & training plan from my new trainer, that makes it more difficult. Once I get that I think that I will be more disciplined. I probably won’t get any more supps for financial reasons & will stick with what I have. Right now I have my protein shakes, multi-vitamin, fish oil, flaxseed oil, BCAA’s, and am using a fat burner.

One positive note, I was on my way back from the hospital today and it was sooo damn nice out, all I could think of was getting into a bikini & being able to wear my skinny clothes again. My mind went to, you gotta get your sh** together. This morning I was trying to finish doing some cleaning (apartment was a wreck), and posted some pics of figure compeitors that I admire (Monica Brant, Jamie Eason, Melissa Hall, etc) and on the right I posted my before pics (will eventually post my progress pics in that spot) and in the middle I have a pic of a girl on the treadmill and above the pic it says "NO MORE EXCUSES". I really need to start living by those words, lol. I know that I will reach my goals, but I’d rather get it done sooner than later :)

Clearing the fog :)

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008

So my last post was a lot on my mind. Well I’m starting to clear the fog from my head a little (lol). I officially hired a coach who is putting together my training & diet program. My goal is to compete in the October OCB Cape Cod Natural figure comp. I went to see a seminar he had on nutrition & training (for contest & in general) & I really enjoyed him. He is very knowledgeable & likes to learn in general. Knows his sh**, which is what I was looking for. So now just waiting for the e-mail (lol). I’ve been a bit bad we shall say and on/off for the last week. Yesterday was my b-day, not an April Fools joke but an April fool’s baby (lol) and had a ton of cheats the day before, the morning, the evening. Gotta clear those out :) . I can’t wait to start the program because when you have someone that you have to report to whether you’ve been naughty or nice, well it makes a difference ;)   …So I am really excited for all of this to start. Not to excited to fit school in, but keep reminding myself that it’s almost over. Plus my clinical preceptor (a bit anxiety driven, helps me keep my sanity though, funny how that works. I think some anxious people don’t realize really how anxious they are and how it effects those around them, lol), but he is mad cool & pushes me off to take a break, which luckily gets my protein shake & fruit in there when I need it :) . I’ve got 4-5 more weeks of that :) & lots of other things (a paper, presentation, etc), but then it’s done. Although graduation isn’t until May 30. Once the first week of May is over, the only thing I really have left is Finals, which will work great into my training. I’ll have to work more but I’ll stick with nights & work my training around that since I won’t probably start a new grad program until either June or mid/late July.

I have decided that I reeeaaalllyyy want a job where I currently work. I might not be able to get one on the floor that I work on but I want to stay at the hospital that I am at. The human resource person that interviews the new grad prospects is the same person that interviewed me when I was hired as a CNA. I am totally killing it with her & sucking up (lol). She called me back today about recieving my application & the new grad program but I can never get a hold of her, will go in & hunt her down if I have too:)  I am hoping to get on a med-surg floor but will take surgical or ICU. Would have to study my a** off to go into ICU though. The med-surg telemetry floor is where I orginially wanted to go and although they have their issues (all places do), I have worked up there before & get along with most of the staff really well, so it’s all good. Now to wait for the interviews from human resource & the floors and hopefully I’m in the door (foot is already in there :) )).
