Body For Life

Friday, February 29th, 2008

Okay, It’s Official. I will take another stab at the Body For Life program. A couple of people have mentioned it to me and I started it once before but did not complete it. I don’t think it had anything to do with the program itself, but my motivation and desire to complete it. A lot of people have had great transformations in the twelve weeks and gained a great deal of muscle and lost a significant amount of fat, which is well…EXACTLY WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR. I did get my membership to the gym, so I minus will take advantage of it. My schedule is much better this semester than in the past, so it should be something that I can do. IF I REALLY WANT IT, THAN I HAVE TO GO FOR IT.  My father was supposed to take the little one last week but will be taking him this week instead, so no worries about letting him out of his crate when I get out of work, I can just head straight to the gym now:) NO MORE EXCUSES, DARN (LOL). Posted my before pics and will try to post new pics every week throughout the challenge. Also goes hand in hand with my goals because the challenge and when I hope to reach my goals end around the same time (yeeaaahhh). Had started P90 and enjoyed it for the most part, but I think that heading to the gym and so forth will keep me more motivated. Plus some of the people who have done Body for Life have such great results. Will start the Body For Life challenge on March 1 (tomorrow) :)

Day 14. Okay I’m very excited. I’ve made it through my second week. Yeeeaaahhh. Usually I will get myself pumped up about how I’m going to work out and lose this weight…Blah, blah, blah, and a week later I’m sitting down eating some pizza or chinese food. Well I have done my two weeks and am still highly motivated. THIS IS MY TIME, NOW MY FAT HAS TO WORK WITH ME (lol).

Clinical was great today (haven’t been because my preceptor (nurse that I follow and work side by side with). Was a little worried about the eating schedule, but he is mad cool and took my breaks. Forgot my lunch but was a good girl and got a salad :) . Came home, took little one out for his break and did my full body WO and 20 minutes on the treadmill. So if this keeps up this semester is going to be SO MUCH BETTER. Only problem is still Sunday into Monday but I just need to bring the Eats in with me. WILL POWER IS THE KEY:). And will thinking about fitting into the itty bitty bikini, cute tops, short shorts, etc. (lol). That helps too. Well two weeks of complete workouts done and so-so eating completed (Still working on eating clean. I know its a big part of losing weight in a healthy way). Time to go on and continue on with my transformation. Can’t wait to see what happens over the next week. Hopefully I’ll get to post some good changes on pics next time :o

Day 13 (off on my days somewher, but it’s day13). Another bout of Turbo Jam. Did 30 minutes on the treadmill today instead of 20. Combined run/walk/walk all together. Really trying to increase so that I do more running. But I am an awful, awful runner. Gonna take time to build my endurance. Lower half is my hardest area to change, guess that’s most women too though. Finally getting through most of the kicks on turbo Jam (yeeeaaah) and really feeling those glutes and legs burning through them (yeeeaaah). Will time to eat clean and maybe all that dirty talk to my fat will make it finally go away. Then again, I don’t know. Maybe fat likes dirty talk (lol). I’ll have to kick it’s axx with all my soon to be new muscles though, that will make it listen :)

Day 10. Still going strong, with my working out that is. Did turbo Jam and 20minutes hill/Treadmill today. Really worked my hams on that treadmill. Still trying to figure out my diet and this whole CKD thing. Did carb last night to give myself a little treat and get ready to start on the ketogenic side of the diet and will continue in the meantime to look for more articles on it. Definitely gained some weight from carb up last night but don’t really feel any heavier. Think that I am only going to post weigh-ins on Wednesday as well as do Pics and BF, waist measurement updates x 2 weeks on Wednesday also, which will actually be this coming week from when I really started to workout again and try to eat healthier. :)

Day 9. Went to gym and did Intro to kickboxing. Wow did that work me. Luckily some of the same moves are in Turbo Jam so I didn’t feel like a complete idiot. Very good workout today. Looking at the CKD (cyclicial ketogenic diet) to help with my fat loss and sparing my muscle loss. Ketogenic diets usually do very well for me with weight loss. Any advice or info on how people have done on the CKD in the past would be extremely helpful. My carb-up/load day will probably be Saturday going into Sunday. Still looking into info on the CKD and if it will be right for me and how I want my carb loading day and workouts to incorporate into this. One website suggested doing carb loading every 15th day for those who have a good percentage of fat loss to lose, so I’m trying to check on that also.

Day 8. Was going to go to the gym this morning, but snowing outside when I got out of work. Went to sleep instead. Did Turbo Jam and 20mintues of walking/hills on the treadmill. Did it a little different today. Incorporated the TM into Turbo Jam so I finished my workout before the cooldown on Turbo Jam. Very good workout today. I have to say that I absolutley love Turbo Jam. Really gets you pumped up and the workouts pretty much fly by once you learn the routine and can get stamina.

More fuel to the fire. Met one of the participants from the biggest loser challenge going on at my work. Kind of got me pumped up about really losing weight and trying to win the money. Could definitely use the $500. I’m a student after all (lol, it sucks). The only thing that sucks is that they are doing it by weight, and not by percentage. Gotta really step up my gain because I don’t seem to be losing anything right now. Know the scale is not something your supposed to be obsessed about. Plus I still have another 5 1/2 weeks and I don’t know what they are doing as far as working out. I’ve been fantastic about working out, plus strength training 3x week and cardio 6x week, but I need to be more cautious about what I eat. Well time to step up the game for the next 5 1/2 weeks because that money needs to be in my pockets :)

Start of 2nd week of P90. Woke up and did FBW and 20 minutes on treadmill interval training. Weight at least stayed same instead of increasing. Can feel a little bit of a difference in my midsection. Not  so much of a belly ball when I bend over (LOL, it will go away eventually). I can definitely notice a difference when I turn and look into the mirror from the sideview though. Can’t wait to start seeing a little bit of difference in my legs though. I have quite a bit of cellulite and my legs full pretty firm, so I’m not sure if it is going to take some time to downsize them. Don’t mind having thick legs if there in shape, but all the clothes that I want to fit into well never make it on. Still very motivated and hanging in there. Diet is staying so-so. Trying to figure out meals that I really like that I can cook and refridgerate for the week, but that will also fill me up. Well- good first week. Let’s hope that the rest of the second week continues on a good note. Plus can’t wait to take pics for the end of week two to see for any changes.

Still hanging in there

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

Day 7, Did cardio and well…more cardio today. Went to the gym today and did an aerobics class called Zumba. Heard of it before but wasn’t quite what I expected. Damnn, usually I’m pretty coordinated but I felt like I was all over the damn place. At least I wasn’t the only one who looked a fool though. Went home and did twenty minutes on the treadmill run/walk intervals. Going to get new glasses today. Yuck. Only have a few more days for some nice long dog walks, my father is taking him on Tuesday, because I will be gone so much with school. At least I can go straight to the gym right after work or clinical and don’t have to worry about getting him out of his crate to go to the bathroom or get a run outside.

Still going strong with the diet and working out. No signs of slowing down, but instead increased motivation. Been pulling out some of my clothes and dreaming of fitting into them again. Weight went up a little, but still feel good, so the scale is not phasing me because I know not to always pay attention to it (although I usually do).

Day 6/P90. Did full body sculpting workout and twenty minutes interval on the treadmill. Good workouts today. Better with the push-up’s and can feel better endurance with the running. Slowly increasing the speed because I am an awful runner. Would like get to a decent speed and build endurance so I can start to run outside when the weather gets a little warmer. Joined a gym today, Yeeeaaahh, and did my grocery shopping for the week. Still feeling good and a lot more awake then usual. Not sure if it from working out, eating better or maybe because I haven’t worked so many nights this week. Maybe a combo.

Day 5 of P90

Monday, February 18th, 2008

Okay today is Day 5 of P90. Usually today would be my rest day because of school but it’s a holiday. YEEEAAAHHH. Yesterday I had a crappy workout and did a halfa** job at Turbo Jam. Was very sore and tired, etc. Got up this morning and did some core rhythms. Love to dance and so forth, so those videos are usually very motivational for me. Plus Turbo Jam usually kicks my butt especially when I add the weighted gloves. Am thinking about purchasing No-xplode to help increase my energy prior to working out. This is supposed to be my easiest week in school because of no class today, didn’t work last night, and my preceptor is on vacation, so no clinical this week. Basically just have to study. Starting next week, I will work every Sunday night 11pm-7a and go straight to school which is an hour & 1/2 away and won’t get home till around 8pm and then be up at 5 am the next morning for clinical. So needless to say, my energy is going to be shot. Luckily that is the only night like that. The other nights that I work, I don’t have school or clinical the next morning, but I do need something for my energy level. Obviously besides today, I will not be working out on Monday unless it is a holiday. Would love any advice, especially from any night owls, about how they do there workout, especially if they have to swtich from mornings to nights all the time (work nights, but do day clinicials and have lecture from morning till evening on Mondays)???

Anyways today was a decent workout. Still a little sore, need to stretch more. Did a progress pic and see a small amount of difference. Feel a lot better though. Although, I’m getting hunger cravings something awful. Have been making sure to eat something every couple of hours. Been staying towards chicken, fish, eggs, and vegetables as well as protein shakes. May add something in with my protein shakes to help with the cravings. Not sure if my body is just getting used to not eating everything in sight. Also beginning not to feel like a "swollen tick" about to pop anymore –YEEEAAAHHH.
