Well after only getting into the gym once over the past month, finally went again today. Haven’t been able to go because of being sick and then the Australian Mixed National Championships. Hopefully I can get back into being consistent again. Have now only 2.5 months to reach my goal.
It was really hard going at the gym today though. I fatigued really easy and couldnt lift as much as I used to be able to. So have taken a huge step backwards, not to mention having lost almost 2kg over the past month which is not what I want. Time to work hard now I guess. Just need that extra push.

After working out for the first time last night in a couple of weeks, today my biceps have been a little sore. It’s great! First time ever I reckon that I’ve felt bicep soreness after working out. I definitely know I’ve done something good. Let’s hope I can keep going to the gym regular now and no more setbacks. Sunday it’s back and chest.

So after all most two weeks away from the gym because of illness, finally went back tonight. Unfortunately think I may still not be 100%, I tired quite easily and couldn’t lift the weights I normally do. Hopefully this will change. I’d also lost over a kg since I was in the gym last which is not great. I worked bicep and triceps and did alright with the triceps, felt a nice pump after, let’s hope I feel it tomorrow.

So aiming to bulk up to 80kg by end of the year. After this week I can’t see it happening. I have had a chest infection so no gym this past week, but I haven’t been eating anywhere near well enough, my protein and carb intake has been way down on what it should be. Didn’t even have a protein shake at all over the weekend. Hence the need for the kick start.

Had new measurements taken a week and a bit ago and finally have made some progress which is great! Put on a couple of kilos with most of that being muscle which is fantastic, but my bodyfat percentage is the same so gotta work on bringing that down. The biggest surprise also took the PT by surprise, so much so that he had to measure me twice! Managed to put 4.5cm on my chest - most of that would have been because of my lats, but still it’s a nice increase to have. Now have to work on getting a nice gain in my arms. Any suggestions on how to increase my bicep size?
I also had a new program designed for me and the last two times I have exercised my triceps I’ve really felt it in the tris for days afterwards which is fantastic as for most muscles I never feel sore after exercising. Hopefully there’ll be some progress made there for my next measurements!

Had new measurements taken yesterday morning, unfortunately I don’t seem to have made any real progress. I’ve put on weight which is great, however the down side is that it’s mostly fat and not muscle, after getting down to 10% body fat two months ago now up to 12.5%. Need to try and find that happy medium of eating enough to gain muscle, but not so much that I put on fat. Guess I need to work harder and lift more!?

So was pleased when I weighed myself at the gym today to note that I put on over one kilogram over the last week. Considering I’ve always struggled to put on weight this is fantastic. However a little concerned it is more fat than muscle, I’ve lost some of my definition in my abs (though my ab work hasn’t been so consistent of late). Perhaps I need to do more cardio.

Finally completed a whole week of going to the gym without anything stopping me! Hurrah! Perhaps now I can make some progress. Spent a good 1.5-2 hours yesterday at the gym working upper body. Thought I might be sore today, but I’m not. Perhaps I’m not working hard enough? Let’s see how this week goes.

So have now hit yet another unfortunate snag, just after getting back into the gym, after having a week off from having a tooth removed, I’ve now got an unknown shoulder injury. Which means I can’t do any weights using my left arm. Grrr… How am I going to make any progress? Oh and the injury is not gym related, unless an injury flares up days after the gym?
