working abs

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

I hate doing abs. They have always been the hardest for me to get, no matter how hard I try. I have always had a problem with my weight. It is all I can do to get what I have. I work my butt off to even keep my weight off my stomach. That is the first place my weight goes. I know that I need a major diet change and to focus alot on my abs during every workout I have. But for some reason I hate doing abs more than anything else I do. Maybe it is all in my head. LOL. I sure could use some advise on this part of my body. I know what to do most of the time, I think I also lack the motivation, because it takes so long for this part of your body to show. This is the main reason I do not like to post pic’s with my shirt off. I have always been self conscious of this area. Anyway, just venting feeling frustrated with this tonight.

making excuses

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

I have been having a tough time getting back into the gym lately, since I had a touch of pneumonia at the end of November. I  just haven’t had the energy or desire at this point. It has really taken alot out of me. I lost almost 20 pounds during the two weeks. Now it seems that I might have lost some of hat fire I had before I got sick. Now I have told myself that I am just making excuses not to start training seriously again. In the past couple of days I have seemed to catch the fire I had before I got sick. I am tired of the way I have been feeling and the rut I have been in. I see myself as more determined as every to get the body I want. I will not let the joy I have for working out be taken anymore. I have my wonderful girlfriend to thank for helping to get the fire back. She has supported me through all this. I know now that for the past couple of weeks i have been making excuses and the time to stop is now. i’ll quit ranting. LOL. good luck with everyone’s training and I hope that you never lose that fire.

getting over being sick

Saturday, November 29th, 2008

Just had a really good workout today. The first in about 2 weeks, just getting over having some walking pneumonia. That stuff really kicked my butt. I have lost about almost 15 pounds. But i still feel strong, even though I have lost some size I have lost some weight around my mid-section. So being sick had some good side effects, lol. i think that having that time off also helped me I felt stronger today doing chest and shoulder. I really thought I might have a down day. I suprised myself even with the weight I lost. I start my diet on monday to hopefully do a show in April or May. I have alot of work to do, especially with my abs and legs. I am going to give it all that I have to get ready. All my time is going to be spent in the gym. I do not have any time to play. Now I just have to get that diet right. I have the workout like I want. It’s all out now.

sore today

Friday, November 14th, 2008

I worked legs today. I don’t know if it was the weather outside or if I was just sore, but my knees were sure sore today. i warmed them up on the treadmill for about 10 minutes. then i did leg presses, but not as heavey as I usually do. I did 5 sets, even though they were good sets, not my best. I did 4 sets on the v-squat machine, knees felt better now that they were warmed up. Then I went onto front squats for 4 sets. super-setting these exercises with doing seated calf raises. I did 5 sets of leg extensions, and 5 sets of seated hams. I worked abs and did 30 minutes on the treadmill after I was done.  Even though I had a good work out it was not my best. my legs didn’t feel full and ready to explode like they usually do when i work legs. I came home and took some motrin and just relaxed for a little while. This is really the first time my knees were just not up to it. I am hoping that this is just this one workout. I am wondering if I might have to warm up a little longer next time. I can see some size and shape taking place, just seems like a slow process. lol.  I know that my legs are my weak point along with abs. I have started adding a second leg day to try and get them up to par. The second leg day is doing some different exercises, such as adding lunges, and straight leg dead lifts. If anybody has any suggestions I sure would appreciate it. Guess it is time to eat and get stuff ready for work tomorrow.

arms and back

Monday, September 15th, 2008

I just got home from a great back and arm workout. i can really start to see some improvement in my upper body except the abs. they are coming along slowly. i love getting to the gym when nobody is in there or only a couple of people. i am able to get going without having to slow down. i can keep my workout on track without missing a beat. Tonight i did bent over rows x 5 sets of 8-10, seated one arm iso-rows x 4 sets of 8, lat pull downs x 4, and seated cable rows x 3 heavy sets of 8. then i did 5 sets of close grip bench super-set with 5 sets of curl bars 8-10 reps each. i then went tp dips x 4 sets of 8 super-set with preacher curls x 4 sets of 10. i then did 5 sets of skull crushers followed by double arm cable curls x 5 sets of 10. then went to rope push downs x 4 sets of 8 with single arm curls x 4 sets. followed by hammer curls and over the head dumbell presses. each set of each exercise went up in weight, so i was able to feel the burn and get a great pump. I could feel myself grow tonight, this was one of my best workouts in a while. I was bad and didn’t do any abs or cardio tonght, but I will make up for it tomorrow. I still need to work on my diet to get to the point I can start to see my abs. I am already nervous about the show I’m thinking about I have gotten alot of encouragement on bodyspace, I just haven’t told alot of people in my life close to me. Some people just don’t understand what the big deal is. I am glad that bodyspace is here, gives me alot of inspiration.

leg day

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

I just got back from the gym doing legs. Leg day is by far the hardest for me, it just drains me. Today I had a good leg day, i set a new personal best of 1320 on the leg press for 3 full reps. i did 2 warm up sets and 5 working sets with rep range of 10-5 except for the set of 3. then i went over to the hack squats and I did 4 sets 1 warm up, progressing up in weight each time. I did some straight leg deadlifts after that 4 sets of 10 so i could get that good stretch. After that i did 4 sets of 8-10 on laying leg curls going up in weight on each set. then I did 5 sets of 10 of leg extensions going up each set, but making sure i could get full extension each time. finished this off with 5 sets of 15 of seated calfs. I plan on going back tonight and do about an hour of cardio. This has probably been one of my better leg days in a while, I could really feel the blood flowing through my legs. I have thought about adding a second leg day to incorporate stuff like lunges and front squats and do some reps on stuff like leg extensions and hams. more of a lighter day. I’m hoping that doing this will hrlp bring my legs along faster. If anybody is reading this if you have any suggestions I would love to hear them.
