…okay, so I may not be ready to go for American Gladiators anytime soon, but I’d like to drop about 15 pounds of fat and replace it with lean muscle over the next six to eight weeks…lets see how it goes this time!

So since the last blog, I’ve been working away from home a lot, which means great difficulty in trying to fit in any gym time at all. And now on top of that I’ve picked up an injury - and not just a little niggle either! My shoulder has been blown for about three weeks now and it’s still causing some discomfort and so training in completely off. Not good for motivation or attitude at all because I had started making some good gains.

So plan B - try and get cardio in, and then plenty of leg workouts…and hope I can stick to it…

So anyways, towards the tail end of ‘07 I really tailed off - too many parties, excuses and poor diet! Not impressed! But the plan is to hit the new year full on. I’ve started cleaning my diet, I’m not intending to drink for at least the whole of January, and hit the gym seriously. The big problem is still cardio - I don’t have the time in the week and my asthma is playing up with the cold weather - the plan is to hit an hour or two at the weekends and keep the weights for the week. Let’s see how this goes then…

Okay, so it’s two weeks since my vacation and it been real hard to get back in to it. I’ve picked up a slight chest infection which has caused me to cut cardio to the absolute minimum, and the backed up work load at the office means longer hours and less opportunity to get to the gym.

That said, this weekend is the starting point for my new kick. Seeing posts that have been put up by you guys is a great motivator and I know that I just need to get my head down and refocus - with some proper commitment I’ll nail my diet and get back to making those gains.

Thanks for your help, it’s good to see what kind of levle you’re aiming for when setting goals!

So, its almost here…my first holiday in several years, with an opportunity to finally relax on a golden beach. After having missed my target of reducing my bodyfat, I’ve decided to take the opportunity to try and get some enthusiasm for cardio - early morning jogs and plenty of time spent in the pool - sorely missed in the everyday training because there simply aren’t enough hours for work, weights and cardio - and light weight/high reps in the hotel gym…

A week next to a beach in Turkey and I’ll be good to go…here’s hoping!

Okay, so as my first addition to the blog I need to get something of my chest - it’s a topic that me and my buddies reflect on often, and I’m not a hater, don’t get me wrong, it’s just that serious training needs no distractions.
1. People that don’t put the weights back where they should be – simple housekeeping…

2. All the gear, no idea – just because they’ve been to Nike Town doesn’t mean they can train well. Note especially middle aged men in Lycra, a big no no!

3. Bad Form – simple philosophy – use less weight and maintain good form (if you have it in the first place) – I have no sympathy for people that get injured through bad form, even myself.

4. Groups congregating and chatting around machines and benches – WTF!!, this isn’t the Women’s Institute

5. People using an incline bench as a flat bench, even when there’s one free.

6. Mobile Phones – you training or texting?!

7. BO – okay, so sweat is natural, but there’s no need to stink!

8. Lack of eye candy – vanity is a great motivator for both men and women

9. Feeling weak – lack of sleep, lack of energy…it sucks big style!

10. Circuit trainers/uneducated folk breaking up supersets.

I’m not for one second saying I’m perfect, but my training is heading in the right direction at the moment and even little things can get to me - and I apologise if anyone thinks I’m out of order with any of these, it’s not my intention, just my thoughts…

…on a more positive note, I had a great day training chest yesterday, I’m seeing some good gains at the moment, and talk about those endorphines…wow!
