the truth…

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

Last night I ran for 50 minutes and did a full chest workout. Tonight I just settled for a fast paced 30 minute run. The scale tells me I am still losing weight. It’s not long till months end when the tape and pictures will reveal the truth.

the dreaded rubber road

Monday, May 19th, 2008

If you have been reading here long enough you will know that I have a goal of doing 12 palm down fully extending arm pull-up/chin-ups in a row. Well I can do ten in a row right now with good form…but I have decided to attack the goal by doing three sets of six twice a week (starting last week). One day in the next four weeks, without any major pre-meditation or planning, I will just try and and eek out that 12 in a row. Anyway…tonight I hit the gym working out the back and I then hobbled out a 45 minute run on the dreaded rubber road…aka treadmill. Its better than that ugly betty show though.

Ugly betty makes me sprint

Sunday, May 18th, 2008

yesterdays workout was a good 50 minute run and then biceps and triceps to top it off. The weight is still dropping so hopefully this week it won’t come up on me. I need to keep the daytime diet clean somehow. Today I ran on the treadmill for 90 minutes which was a killer, especially as my favourite rugby league team lost badly. I came home and had fish for dinner, then my kids made me watch Ugly Betty with them. I sprinted from the couch to my room as soon as it was over. It is an evil show in some ways….disturbing even :) .

pizza night rules…sometimes

Friday, May 16th, 2008

Last night I blatted out a 40 minute run and worked the chest via dips, incline flyes and seated flyes. I rested tonight as it was pizza night. Kids loved it…

…a sauna and a shower

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

well my week away was a sauna for three days then a tropical downpour for the rest of the week. It fined up only on the weekend. The place was so flooded and waterlogged I only only managed two runs. Both times the locals looked at me as if I was crazy. The first run I did was on a playing field. Two kids kicking a ball around asked me if I was allright or looking for someone… the second run was on a massive field through shin deep grass near the Vanuatu parliament. The day after I ran they mowed the lawn. Someone must have seen me and felt sorry for me. Then it rained non stop for almost four days. It was a great time away though and an amazing place to revisit. Last time I was there in 1997 I got lost for for two days in the jungle on this big island called Ambrym. After a week I could see my ab’s. An amazing fact is that in Vanuatu, a kg of potatoes costs more than a kg of steak. I kid you not. They import potatoes. My friend ordered steak and chips and got six chips.

After two days recovery…(I was ultra tired for some reason) I went to the gym tonight, worked out the back and ran for 47mins. My legs felt heavy but I haven’t gained much weight. I guess I am back into it.

A weeks sauna…

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

I am in Vanuatu this coming week for work so I won’t post an assessment of April until later. Vanuatu is a group of Pacific islands in Melanesia.  In WWII many US servicemen were stationed there and they filmed Survivor there once. I have been there before and it is a humid sauna like environment. I hope to get some training in.

Bottom line for April is I gained weight, but if my resting HR is anything to go by I think I am marginally fitter, although I don’t know how. I might be able to hit an internet cafe there. If I get the chance to access BB.com in the coming week I will do so. If anyone checks in here…best for your coming week and the new month.
