Not exactly, running works your thinner muscle fibers( type 1 or red fibers) making the muscle smaller and more compact. If you run and still do your sqauts, lunges and leg press semi heavy that will work your short thick fibers(type 2 or white fibers) that give your glutes that lift. Also if you encorporate sprinting into your running time that will work the short fibers as well. Hope this helps.
That is crazy about sagging…….I am a runner..and a lifter, so if it was true I am evening it out……lol…….I hope you dont stop running girl…………lots of love
If your glutes are covered with a lot of fat and your glute muscles get smaller then the fat will give a sagging appearance. I dont think you will have that problem.
WHAT?!? Umm, maybe time to clarify what your trainer meant or GET A NEW TRAINER!!! Running will not make your glutes sag! Keep running, keep working the weights… Both Type I and Type II fibers are trained and you’ll be good-to-go! You look great now! Best of luck! Michael.
all the runners i ever saw had great asses!!! (especially if you do any up hill!!!) in fact i am an anti runner (just personal preference not because i think it’s bad or anything… i don’t like to do things i’m not good at haha) but i have attempted to run a mile randomly here and there and i actually found my butt got sore every time, so… !!
Running is not bad at all for your glutes. If you run and combine other plyometric exercises plus additional gym workout, your glutes will be high and hard as a rock.
Running makes you very lean (good if you need to lose fat, bad if you’re already thin). You don’t want to get stringy. Sprinters had nice asses. Long distance runners have flat butts. Sagging isn’t really an issue.
