Atkins Diet…. at it again

So today I’m starting the Atkins diet once again. A few years ago I weighed 199lbs. and thats when I realized that I had to do something to transform myself, since depression was setting in, and I was completely unhappy with the way I looked and felt. At the time, my aunt was on the Atkins, and had lost nearly 10 lbs. in the 1st 2 or so weeks. So, knowing that, I decided to try it out for myself and see if I got any results.

After the first month, I had dropped 25lbs. and was going strong. None of my clothes would fit, and I was thrilled by that. Over about a 4 month period, I had lost 45lbs total, gradually bringing carbs back into my diet. Since then, I have managed to keep off the weight, but I know that I need to lose a bit more. On my first run with the Atkins diet, I did not exercise. No workouts, no cardio, nothing. This time, I’ll be combining the diet with lots of exercise (thanks to some friends, who I workout with…. great motivation!)

Over the holidays, I put on 6 lbs., going from 154 to 160. I know 6 lbs. is really nothing and I’ll balance out my weight again, as I do every year. Either way, I have a higher weight to go by in my goal tracking.

My goal is to lose 30 lbs. going from 160 to 140. I’m not trying to become a rail, but I know that to see muscle, I’ll need to shed the fat around my belly (lower abs).

So anyways, wish me luck…. I know I’ll need it. 140, here I come.

have you tried the south beach diet? It has some of the same concepts but promotes healthier types of protein sources, etc…
