BATTLE OF BLACKSBURG

Friday, October 19th, 2007

Tomorrow, 6 pm, Burruss Hall at Va Tech, LIVE JUDGED

I’m really excited.  My weight hasn’t been moving but my body has changed soooo much.  I think my legs will be just right for the INBF criteria.  I’m worrying about my abs a little, hoping that its just water keeping them ugly.  My arms, shoulders and back are all much improved from the spring shows.  I’m SO ready to hit it tomorrow.  It’s going to be a LOT of fun.

stalling out

Wednesday, September 12th, 2007

My weight won’t budge.  My cals are low.  My carbs and fat are VERY low (oh my god was I craving carbs yesterday).  My workouts are good.  WHY CAN’T I LOSE!??!  I’m nervous that I won’t be ready for October 20.  I have had my heart set on Yorton since I started competing, and I WILL be ready for it.  But every day I just look bloated and soft.  Nothing is happening yet.

On top of that, I can’t seem to get anything done.  I train, work, eat, and that’s it.  No time left to take care of my house, talk to my friends, study for my CPT exam.  I really need to wrap my head around what’s going on with this contest prep.  It is SO much harder and SO much less fun than the last time around….

upcoming shows

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

I’m thinking of doing two back to back shows again…which puts me just over 8 weeks out from the first one.  Both shows are OCB.  I danced around a couple orgs this spring and just know OCB likes my look so I’m going to run out the year with them.  Who knows what next summer holds though…

My posing coach, Mary Bell (www.centerstagefigures.com), emailed me recommending I do an INBF show this fall.  She is just as confused about the figure judging we saw at the Presidential Cup and concerned about the validity of the judging for the show I was planning on doing.  Mary has been a WNBF pro for most of her figure career and feels like my long lean look will do very well.  So I’m thinking of changing over to that…

82 Days Out

Tuesday, August 7th, 2007

I am just a hair under 12 weeks out from the Yorton Cup.  I’m still debating if I want to do a show the week before that, but because Yorton is going to be HUGE, I am going to focus on training for that with a goal of placing in the Top 5 in the Figure Open Division.  It will be very hard, I’m sure.

Unfortunately, I had a very unproductive (and delicious and lazy) offseason.  I do have more back width and shoulder size and I’m starting my contest prep 10 pounds lighter than last time, so I should be able to stay dedicated and work hard and look better than I did.  I’d like lean legs without veiny arms.  I’d like to put a tiny bit more size on my arms and shoulders yet.

Today I’m going to start my diet, but only for a week because I go on vacation next Wednesday for 5 days.  I was pretty bad this weekend while my sis was visiting, but I’m not too worried about it.  I know what I need to do to get it done this time around.

Number one goal is not to burn myself out, or the people around me.

I will probably not compete again until next July after Yorton.  I think I will start training in fitness strength and flexibility moves after this show, hopefully competing in both figure and fitness next summer.

I’m SO ready to do this.  I hope everyone else is ready for me!

NPC, here I come…

Monday, May 28th, 2007

I will definitely be competing in an NPC event this fall.  I work hard for a lean, hard physique, I am going to freaking work it where it will be appreciated (see my Contest Results rant for more info…)

This past month has been quite the learning experience, and now I feel sure what direction I need to go to continue competing in figure.  INBF, OCB, and NPC seem to be organizations that I will work well with so I will focus on them.

My off-season starts nowish…I’m shooting to eat clean ish this week with the whole week off from the gym (I NEED IT) and to start up on a bulking routine next week.  I will begin dieting for Yorton probably after Labor Day, so I get to enjoy my summer!  YAY!  Once I finalize my diet/supps/training plan I’ll probably post it up here, I’m always open to suggestions/advice/corrections.

Thanks for all the well wishes through my first ever competition season!

Oh no…

Thursday, May 24th, 2007

Last night a girl at my gym started talking to me about competing and she was so sweet and so easy to talk to and SO knows what I’m going through and I think she may have convinced me to do another competition on June 30.

This is getting ridiculous!  AAACCCKKKK

My Peak Week Experiment

Thursday, May 17th, 2007

I decided to invent my own peak week this week…last Saturday morning I was very happy with the way I looked and almost wished I was competing then.  So I decided to just repeat what I had done the previous week to see if I could maintain that for the show on Saturday.

Basically what I did Mon - Wed:

500 - one scoop whey

30 minutes on stepmill

Abs, stretching

700 - 4 egg whites, 1/2 c oats - supplements (Multi, Vit C, Calcium, Glucosamine, Fish Oil)

1000 - 3 oz chicken 2/3 c green beans

1300 - 3 oz chicken 2/3 c green beans

1600 - 8 jumbo shrimp or pouch of tuna

1900 - 3 oz chicken 2/3 c green beans - Glucosamine, BCAAs

2000 - weightlifting workout (mon - back, tues - arms, wed - shoulders and calves) followed with a good stretch and 30 minutes of posing

2100 - one scoop of whey

2300 - 1 T natty PB to snack on while watching TV

Drinking about a gallon+ of water throughout the day

So today I am repeating everything up through my "dinner," not lifting, adding another chicken and green bean meal before bed.  Tomorrow I will sleep in, eat egg whites and salsa for breakfast, chicken and spinach all day and 1/2 my water intake.  Then Saturday…we’ll see what happens…..I am happy with the leanness in my legs and even feel my arms and shoulders look slightly improved over the CNN show.  I just may be ready…

4 days out…

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007

I am now 4 days out from the VA Open (NASF) and not nervous at all.  I don’t know what it is, I just feel overly confident going into this show and that scares me.  Because what if that makes me slack off?  I’ve got the rest of the week planned out just right and for some reason it just seems like no big deal.

Three weeks ago I was in a complete panic over the Core, this makes no sense.

And while I’m not stressed about THIS Saturday, I’m panicking hard about the Kumite Classic.  I make no sense.

ANYWAY if you are in the area - 7 pm Saturday at Great Bridge HS in Chesapeake VA.  Come support your fave Figure Tall(est) competitor!
