Week 13

Monday, January 28th, 2008

So now I’m crossfitting every day, adding lots of ab work and walking on an incline, and just beating the crap out of myself.  Today was particularly brutal.  BUT it’s working.  I’m down to 153 and I’m looking a lot better.  So I’m just going to push through the next 2 weeks like this and see what happens in NYC.  Another 2 or 3 pounds would be very nice….

Rock climbing tomorrow for the first time in 3 years, last time I sprained my ankle, let’s not repeat that mess.

Well, everyone thinks I should do it.  I want to do it.  What’s holding me back?  Open casting calls for American Gladiators on Sat. Feb. 9.  Tonight I’m going to build the master plan to peel off a bit of fat and go for it.  I don’t care if I get selected or not, but I might as well try out just to experience it, right?

Now I’m getting nervous and really regretting that cappucino this morning!  Ha!

Week 12 - no changes

Monday, January 21st, 2008

Still following the same routine.  I feel stronger and healthier.  I’m not losing weight but my clothes are fitting better.  I got my photos in from Yorton finally (my own fault for not sending in the check for months) and I can really see where I need to focus for this year’s shows.  I looked great, but I did NOT look like a figure champion.  Oh well…guess I’ll just eat fondue and drink wine with my friends instead!

January Fitness Skills Goals

I need to really start working on the mandatory elements of fitness routines if I want to compete in WTF this July.  I’m going to break down several skills each month and hopefully master them all by June.  Yeesh.

January:Full splits on both legs, front walkover, full extensions both legs, box jumps 50 times 20" box under 1 minute (is that reasonable, I don’t even know)

Week 11 - Crossfit/Dance/Diet

Still Crossfitting 3 on 1 off.  Most workouts are still modified.  Why can’t I do a freaking pullup anymore?  Do I weigh too much? 

I’m back in 360 dance, even though it is now called "Delirio."  Unfortunately Laurie remembered me and would not cut me a break last night.  I was dying.  Picked up some great new ways to strengthen my shoulders (which still suck, how will I ever do a 1-hand pushup!!)

I’m also trying to watch my diet a little more.  I got too out of control, I’m not careful enough when I’m not measuring/weighing.  Oh, and if there is peanut butter in the house, have no fear, I’ll polish off the whole jar in a day or two.  NO MORE PB ALLOWED :(

Typical weekday:

0500 whey + 1/4 cup oats

0530 workout

0715 4 egg whites, maybe some fruit

0930 (ish depending on work) low fat cottage cheese and fruit

1200 (ish depending on work) 3 oz chicken 1 cup green veggies apple

1500 (ish depending on work) 3 oz chicken 1 cup green veggies

1800 this is where it all falls apart.  i might eat nothing all night, maybe a jar of PB, maybe miller lite, maybe more chicken and veggies.  I figure if I can keep it together 75% of the time its better than I’ve been doing, right?

Back Squat - 1 rep - 245!  (new PR)

Shoulder Press - 1 rep - 70

Deadlift - 1 rep - 205! (new PR)

Score - 520 - Just making it into the advanced ranking for my weight class.  I was so proud of myself today!  Can you see my upper/lower body imbalance?!?!

Week 10 - More Crossfit

Crossfit is kicking my butt.  I have to modify every workout and I get crazy looks when I’m setting up a BB for deadlifts in front of the dip bars, but whatever.  I need to order some rings online, and I need to find a track to do some of these workouts at.  The ones with 400 m runs are hard on a treadmill because it takes so long to get up to speed…

 

I’ve worked on a lot of the ladies - Diane, Helen, Cindy.  My back and shoulders are getting huge.  My medial deltoids hurt every day.  I love it.  Come Feb, I’m going to have to work in some traditional weightlifting but for now I’m totally psyched.  I also spend a lot of time on flexibility, but I really have to step it up if I want to be ready for WTF in July…

Week 9 - Crossfit?

I’m recovering from a cold so today was my first day in the gym all year.  I’m going to do CrossFit workouts for the month of January, 3 days on, 1 day off.  A lot will need modifications…
