Unexpected improvement

Saturday, April 5th, 2008

I’ve got to organize myself to post here on a more systematic basis. Even if small posts, it is important in any blog. Otherwise when I come back it is just like coming back home from a long trip and not recognizing the drawers and shelves.

Let’s go then.

Today I want to report my unexpected improvement. I spent two months not pressing anything: no benching, no military press – nothing. Two weeks ago I started pressing again.

Check these numbers:

- before the injury: raw lift around 170lbs - max equipped lift 221lb, but I suspected it was actually 242lb with an F6. I always get my carry-over calculations right. F6 carry-over is usually around 32% for me (between 30-40%).

- now: raw lift at 202.4lbs. If I do everything right, I could get 283.4lbs right now at a meet. But I suspect that can go much higher with more training and the new Katana.

That is a 20% increase in strength in a two month rest period.

I still got to figure out what is going on.
