Finally got the go ahead to start running from the Doc this week. Got damaged at work in Jun and have not been able to do anymajor high impact cardio since then. Strange since I could still squat, leg Press, and calf raise heavy. So I ended up going for a run outside on Tues afternoon and then realized….. My cardio is meesed up from the layoff. It was terrible, I covered 6.5k in about 35 Min. Not only is that slower than before, but I was patting like a train….. Damn injuries. Always mess up the system. Now I have to get back on the train and work at the cardio hard.

Well, a week of "rest” is over. It was suppose to last till today, but I managed to cut it short by quarter cutting, moving and stacking about 12 chords of wood in 8.5 hours on Fri night and Sat morning and afternoon. That wore me out to an extreme, and I literally passed out at about 2200 Sat night and didn’t even wake till 7 the next morning. 9 hours down… That’s almost twice as a normal night. Absolutely nuts. so now I’m back to 7 weeks of hard training again. My trainer decided to change the days of my workouts in order to get a little variety since I’ve used the same routine for years.
Guess I’ll have to see how things go.

I hit the 8 week mark on Sun morning. Ths means that for the next week I’m in recovery mode. A lot of people I know don’t even work out during this time. I personally cannot do that. I would go completely nuts. So I change the premiss of my workouts. Instead of pryamiding the weight over 4 sets for 8-12 reps, I get a weight that is al itlle above my first set (ie leg extensions I used 165 instead of my 150 warm-up) and go for 4 sets of 25-30. I still get my workouts in, but I do not have the soreness the next day due to the light weight. I find this is better for me, because if I’m out of the gym for a long stretch I will have a hard time motivating myself back in sometimes, especially in the summer when it’s warm.

I was finally back to a decent leg workout yesterday. Finally felt that my injured foot (though not healed) could withstand a heavier set of weights. However, I never even got passed my 4th set before I had to stop. Ony it wasn’t an injury, but staff that stopped me. I was on the leg extension, and in our gym they only have about 300 lbs on the machine. So I went looking for an extra pin and a few plates to load the machine. needless to say, when seen the staff member was in spin mode. Didn’t even wait to let me fininsh my set (I like to do a set of 150, 280 and 2 sets of 400 on the leg extension). They insisted that I was not to do this again as the machine will only use 310 lbs. I tried to explain that I was doing this for the last 4 months to no avail, and decided to just carry-on. However, during my deadlifts, the same member came up and told me not to use the 405 I loaded on the bar because it might "intimidate" some people. Ohhhh please…… It’s not even that so much as hitting me on the back in the middle of a set that drives me up the wall. I must have shot the staff a look because as soon as he finished his sentence he bolted not event waiting for a response. At this point I decided to just head on home. Guess I’ll have to talk to the manager to see if the staff can be "adjusted"

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve been around. Though I’ve been updating my stats from lifting, I was injured a few weeks ago, and due to it, my cardio was completly useless. I could barely walk, let alone go for any kind of runs. Last Wed I finally cleared enough to start on the stationary bike. However, It will be another week before I try using my ankle for the running, just to insure that it is fully good to go. That in conjunction with the diet that I started and I should begin cutting weight fairly well again.
Guess I’m back on the horse…. Sweet

If there’s one thing that is driving me nuts is the fact that I can’t get a consistant reading off of a scale to determine my weight. Usually, this is not a problem if it’s only a few pounds, but the one I use ant the gym, and one I had access to last weekend have a difference of about 50 lbs. This isn’t cool. Though I’d like to believe the gym, I think that the medical scale I was on and calibrated to the 1000th of a pound is more accurate. This means I’m alot heavier than I originally estimated, and nowhere near where I wanted to be. Guess I’m going to have to increase the cardio, and truely watch what I’m eating at the mess hall in the daytimes. In general
THAT SUCKS!!!!!!

Managed to actually get a run in today which is my first decent one in a week. I managed to injure my knees a week ago Sun and though I left them be for several days, when I tried to run on Wed. I only got about 200m before my left one gave out and I was on the ground. Not cool at all. Especially since I couldn’t even do any lifting since I couldn’t stabilize my body any. But seem to have passed and I can finally stop being lazy which is great.
