Week 2 / Day 1
Tuesday, October 30th, 2007Well, I really messed up the start of the week. I didn’t do the workout on Monday. I just wasn’t feeling it. Oh well…made up for it today.
Did the treadmill for 20 total mins first. 1st three mins were walking at 3.3-3.5 mph. Next 2 mins were 5.5-8.2 mph intervals (15-30 sec). Then I slowed it down to a nice 3.5-5.5 walk/jog session for 15 minutes. Felt okay with it. It kicked my butt when I haven’t done anything to cardio oriented in the last few months or so. ( I did do a 3 mile run/jog/walk about 2 weeks ago, and a 5+ mile walk to Walmart 3 weeks ago ). Ah, well….those are the joys of not taking time to do this kind of stuff.
I decided on doing at least 12 reps per exercises for this workout.
On Abs, I couldn’t do any more situps on my "rotation. The crunches and leg lifts (Upper and Lower Abs) had my abs too stressed out to do any situps on the 3rd set. ( I do my situps with nothing holding my feet (OLD SCHOOL). Plus, it’s really just a big superset of 3 ab exercises put together. Did 15 reps on crunches and leg lifts to compensate.
I found out that my push-ups were actually fairly easy. I felt stronger as I went along in the workout, but held back so I would have enough energy to finish the whole workout. Maybe when I start getting a bit more into isolating bodyparts, etc.
I may have done a few more side lateral raises with the band. I lost count. Ah, well…no harm done.
I varied my torso position on the Door Knob Rows. I leaned forward to get more of a PULLDOWN/ CHIN-UP affect on one set, then stood up for a LOW PULLEY ROW affect on another set.
Body Weight Squats are feeling better. They are giving me that old thigh frying feeling that I used to get when squatting with barbells. MMMMMMMMMmmmmmmm …….. memories. I liked that feeling. Might add D-Bells when reps get to 20 or 25.
One Arm Extensions…I think that after another week or 2, I’ll start using dumbbells for these. The Resistance Band is just not doing it for me. It feels uncomfortable.
One Arm Curls……did them as slow and controlled as I could. 4-6 secs up….4-8 sec down. Had some burn going…I think. Might switch to D-Bells for this one too.
Felt good to stand on the scale and see another weight loss. I know that one of these times, it’s gonna go stagnant or even add weight. Then it’ll be time to either add reps/sets/or weight….maybe even more time on the cardio ( Last option !!!!! LMAO !!!! )
I eat pretty healthy. Lots of Chicken, Fish, Pasta, Rice, and Veggies. I know that I have to kick in some fruit as well. Little by little. ( Just like with the veggies…..I actually found out that I like Lima Beans, Brussel Sprouts, Brocolli, Cauliflower, and several other veggies that I have avoided like the plague since I was a kid. ) So my diet will be one of the last things that I mess with for a while. Once I get into a workout routine and get comfortable with it, I’ll think about watching carb intake and such. But for now, I’ll stick to what’s working.
If anyone has any comments, please feel free to post them on here, so I can read them and maybe use some of the advice.
I will be like Bruce Lee and create a "Jeet-Kun-Do" of a workout philosophy……….Learn as much of everything that I can, then use only what works for me and my style of "fighting". Thanks Bruce, for that train of thought. I used it while in the military and it worked for me as a leader, it should work for me here.
Have a Great Day !!!!
Respectfully,
Manny Fuentes, Jr. a.k.a. "FU" or "FU2" ( stands for Fuentes - because people have trouble saying my last name , and the 2nd - for Jr………….not what you thought !!! LOL !!!! ) I like just "FU" for short. ( said like, Foo )
