Heavy legs day today. Legs hurt! In a good way. A strange and intriguing thought crept into my mind today. What if I trained for a figure competition? I haven't fully decided yet, but it occurred to me that it could be quite fun. I suppose that would mean that I would have to shell out for a personal trainer, which I am fine with. But I wonder if I have enough muscle on my frame to go for it yet. Anyway, I'm currently bulking so I have time to think about this... but I'm actually slowly becoming a bit stoked about this idea. Hmmmm. (By the way, I had this idea after reading the Jean Loveridge Fitness Amateur of the Week article that was up on the BB.com main page yesterday. She is beautiful and represents my new goal physique.) Regardless of what I decide though, I'm still having a great time hitting the gym in my current routine, so as long as I'm having fun - I'm good.
From what I've seen you have the potential to pursue this area of competition. It will also help to bring some focus to your training. One of my friends suggested that I might enter a few races after noting that I record my run times and agonize about them as much as my workouts. LOL! It would also give me a new challenge and make the cardio training a bit more meaningful. You are training hard, why not give it a shot? Hope you are having a great weekend!
Seek out a good coach and ask for a candid assessment. Please don't do this based on public opinion. Competing isn't easy and it takes a lot of hard work and determination so you need to go into this sport understanding what you are getting yourself into. There are many great coaches who offer camps to would be competitors so they can make an informed decision. I am biased and will recommend Cathy Savage but there are many good folks out there.
Do it! training would be sweet pain. The full experience would be the ultimate reward as you stand there before the audience and your loved ones. win or lose, it would all be a positive step to maybe another competition :)
