Rounding up the first week

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Hello all, I’ve been able to pop my head from my sea of stress for moments here and there. There have been a few casualties in the last man standing. I will post a chart tomorrow so we know who is still in.

My week has been crazy. One moment stressed to the gils, next moment waiting for the wave of work to come back my way.

Re my original 7 mile run last Saturday. It didn’t happen… but this past Tuesday I did run 7.25 miles! My grueling 5 mile run with the hills was changed around some. This time I ran UP a steep hill, down a long slow one, turned around and ran back up that long slow hill and back down the steep hill. My knees hurt after that venture. I am so happy I made it! I went for a short 3 miler today (that used to be my long run) and stopped at the gym to just weigh myself. It’s been some time since I’ve jumped on the scale. Last I remember I was around 137-138. I weighed in at 132. :) Yeah. Ok granted it was after a run, but still… the weight is down from before. whoopie!

That’s it for now. I have to get to work. Ugh.

And the challenge begins, BBers on your mark, get set…

Friday, July 25th, 2008

Today is the first day of the challenge and I am stressed out to my eyeballs! I’m stressed, I’m stressed, I’m stressed. Did I tell you I’m stressed? Everything that could go wrong is going wrong. Computer, deadlines… UGH!

Happy to say that nothing illegal has past my lips. Then again I’m too stressed to have time to even look for something to indulge in. Hope to get some pics uploaded soon of my back. Will be doing a long run tomorrow weather permitting, a 7 miler which will be the longest I’ve run since I did a half marathon in 1985! Should be interesting.

Hope all are doing well on their first day. Due to my work load I will not have time to browse around to everyone. Maybe I will be able to squeek a little time after the kiddos go to bed or something. We’ll just have to see. (I have files uploading right now so that is the only reason i can write right now)

Happy Happy

And the next challenge begins

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

Hello all… I will be the co-captain in the next 2 challenges (Last Man Standing and Baby Got Back) with Julofthenile. I will try to make it to everyone’s blog to see how everyone is doing, and leave a word of encouragement. I will admit up front that I am a girl of few words (sometimes more than others) so just know that I will be checking in on everyone, but not always leaving my mark. :)

So my main goal is to eat clean these first 3 weeks… I have my oldest’s 7th birthday party and a vacation planned during this time so it will be hard. What will make it more difficult is that I have a LOT of work ahead of me. Lots of deadlines looming so I pray that I don’t crack under pressure and inhale a bag of snickers minis. For the past couple weeks I have been following a diet I picked up from Beverly International. Not sure what the calorie intake is, but is titled "Figure ‘Lose Fat’ Diet Plan A". It starts with complex carbs in the am, snack and lunch; 2nd snack, dinner and the optional 3rd snack, no complex carbs. I would love to go all 3 weeks without a cheat, but I am going to keep that option available. And if I do ingest a quart and a half of Breyers ice-cream (they no longer make half gallons!!! Check it out, same price, less goodness) I will post it up on my blog and count myself out.

Baby Got Back… I’ve got junk in my trunk… my body is more the shape of the original VW Beatle where the trunk is in the front. lol Anywho, this challenge is difficult since it will be hard to decifer progress. I’ve been running 3x a week so that will take care of my bum. I could probably do more hills (speaking of hills, I ran my 5 mile route backwards this morning. So what you ask? There is a massive hill at the end of it, which when done backwards is killer. The hill is about a little over a mile going straight up! I was able to do it in better time then going the other way. The other way is a long slow up hill with the steep downhill towards the end. My legs were screaming at me!) Ok so, back to what my goal will be for this challenge. I’m not working legs since I’ve been running so… I guess I will work on my upper back/shoulders and tris. I’ve got a tiny v taper happenin’ (very tiny) so maybe I can improve upon it.

Well, that’s it for now. I will be poking by your blogs to see what goals you have set out for yourselves. Let the challenge begin… tomorrow :)

The Defluffing ends

Saturday, July 12th, 2008

Sorry I didn’t post anything last week (week 5). I was away visiting family. Needless to say, didn’t eat well, didn’t workout (except for running after a frisbee at the beach). The visit consisted of eating and sitting on our duffs playing cards. It was fun. I did make the mistake of working my legs with Juls the day before we left. I was hurting for the next couple days. Sitting in a van for 8 hours was pretty tough.
This past week was pretty rough too. I would start the day doing really well, but by night fall…. CRASH! Not that I pulled out the hoho’s or anything, but I would just indulge in fruit or almonds… too many with craisins and sometimes some dark chocolate m&m’s (not all the time) I DID make it to the gym for cardio or I ran outside. My runs were good. I also did partner bicep curls with Juls @ 40#. My bi’s are still screaming at me. I installed a chinup bar in the doorway into the kitchen. So I do a couple here and there as I walk to and from. I figure if I do a few each time I opened the fridge I can burn a couple calories. :) Or maybe I should just do chinups and not open the fridge.
So as far as measurements. I did not take any. All I can say is that I’m pretty sure that the last two weeks brought back some of the fluff I disposed of. Oh well, I will keep moving forward. 3 steps forward, 2 steps back… it’s still 1 step forward right?

Thanks to all for the encouragement. It was great seeing everyones progress and rooting for everyone. This site is awesome and I happy I had the opportunity to take part in this challenge.

So what’s next? Last man standing?
