IM BACK

im back. Im feeling better than before. I have made some major changes in my life (mostly for the better). At one time i was 311 pounds (actually my scale was 3.5 pounds off so i was 314.5). now im in the low 200’s and feeling the best since high school. I was training last year with a freind and got my mile time down to 8 minutes. I stopped running so much and eventually became no steady cardio. I ran agian for the first time in probably 6 months or more and i kicked butt. 8 minute mile. im looking forward to a seven minute mile by the summer!

frustration

I am frustrated. This month has been the most challenging month i have had. I developed tendinitis in my ankle. I recovered from that had a great first workout after injury and then got the flu. I know that life is like this, but i cant help but feel frustrated. I haven’t been making the progress i want anyway. Then you throw in the additional obstacles. I will have to turn it up even more when i get back healthy.

workouts

This week i have seen an explosive gain in strength. I went up 15 pounds on my sets on my bench. I finally did two sets of dips for my triceps without help. I Finally also hit the pull up that has evaded me for so long. My training partner is coming along as well. He  has seen a dramatic increase in the amount of weight he can lift since we started training. We started a workout designed to add strength and mass. I am excited to see what the next few months bring with our training. In January he goes to the  police academy so he should be ready to go by then.

Intensity is the name of the game. It is mentally draining to stay as intense as our workouts have been but the results are worth the price tenfold.

supersize me

I watched the movie Supersize Me over the weekend. It really scares me to know how bad fast food really is and that my family and freinds eat that stuff like crazy. I to eat fast food but i tend to choose the better items on the menu than the burger and fries. I have made a challenge to myself and wife to not eat fast food at all for at least a week and see how that goes.

workouts are going good seeing some small change. Im sure my nutrician has a small role in that. This week should be good.

I  workout at a local gym where hardly anyone works out. I like it because no one bothers me during my workouts. Several new guys came in and started getting ready to workout. I had not seen these guys around the gym before which is unusual because i pretty much  know everyone there. These guys came in and were talking to a heavier set guy and then they put him on a treadmill at a full blown run with no warmup no stretching. I was waiting for the guy to fall off the treadmill to be honest. then they proceeded to train him in bad form and too much weight. I was watching them do ez bar curls. While their feet touching the floor they were swaying so much their back was also touching the floor. Just kidding not that bad but you get the idea. I am not the beacon of light for weightlifting but i know the basics. The "trainers" of this guy were talking about how they did bench press everyday for a 6 months and how they gained 90 pounds of muscle in that time. The new guy ate that up like candy. After about 20-30 minutes they were gone. I looked at my training partner and had to laugh.

I think the trainers were FNG’s just like the guy they were training. FNG’s training FNG’s what a good idea.

Wii Workout

September 1, 2008

First of all i am hesitant to call any video game a workout, but the Wii is the closest thing. I received one today as a gift. I started playing it and after boxing six matches i started get tired. lol. I was boxing as fast as i could and it wore me out. On my rest days i think i will enjoy playing the Wii. I an interested to see how many calories i burn just playing around. Its cool

change

Things change. People change. I have changed. I am not the same. I will never be the same. No more getting out of breath from putting my shoes on. No more getting out of breath clibing one flight of stairs or walking around walmart.

I was with an old friend and he smokes and doesnt workout. He is amazed at how i have changed. He said you can eat some fries and drink a coke its not going to kill you. I disagreed it almost did kill me. I was in bad health when i was so fat. People dont realize the struggle that it is to be healthy. It takes dedication and hard work. It is not something that everyone can do. He thinks i am stuck up and think im better than everyone else because i eat certain things or wont skip a workout to get a beer. I only see this friend once every 2-3 months but seeing him reminds me of where i came from. It reminds me of the old habits that almost killed me. I think its important to remember where you come from to know where you are going.

hungry

August 28, 2008

Its been strange how i am  hungry all the time. I am eating the same way as i have over my fat loss but recently i am hungry all the time. I am really listening to my body more so i will snack on some beef jerky or fruit. I am hungry agian 30 minutes later lol. I eat ever two to three hours. Anyone else have the same problem?

Started my martial arts class and love it. I think it is really cool and a good workout.

back to school

August 23, 2008

Im going back to school. I am nervous about it. I have decided to get a higher degree. I have a two year degree bt now want more. I am nervous because i have been out for a little while. I am excited about getting a new degree and opening new doors.

Workouts have been hardcore with martial arts and weights. I built a makiwra in my backyard. Its used to strengthen hands for striking. its really cool.
