What happens when you take off a week?
Tuesday, March 25th, 2008I took a week from training (well, I substituted snow skiing instead) but I only got in 2 measley workouts. Wimpy, cardio workouts (ok, one was an hour and 15 mins) but I felt lifeless without lifting weights. I skiied for 3-4 days and it was pretty incredible to not be out of breath and not be sore during my ski trip! Especially with being up in higher altitude, which usually gets me out of breath.
I had an incredible ski instructor that got me to love skiing. I have skiied for the last 10 years but until having kids, did I begin to dread it. Maybe it was the fear that someone would lose control and slam into me (yes… those snowboarders are out of control… they should have their own mountain!) Needless to say, I enjoyed every single day of skiing and the thrill of going fast down those sweet slopes. The fact that I am fit, helped me feel strong and in complete control. (ok, maybe NOT in complete control…. I did do some blacks). As I was instructed to bend over slightly, I would tighten my abs and thought "wow…. I can totally get an ab workout here as I’m swooshing down the mountain". Lol! It was a total blast!
Back home and at the gym, I felt totally weak. Wow… I felt the loss of not lifting weights during the week. Even my abs were weaker, as I crunched with my 25 lb plate! The last couple of days I have blasted and torn through some incredible cardio sessions followed by intense and heavy lifting. It feels so good to be back in my routine. Vacations are great, but I dooooo love my workouts. The best part of it all…. the results. The results that will be forthcoming in the next few weeks and months…. as the weather gets warmer and bikinis crawl out of the bikini drawer. lol! That will be the icing on the cake…the joy of leaning out just a little more and getting even stronger!! Yes! Can you say Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Polka Dot Bikini??!!! LOL! As for you guys, get your act together, make your plan and if your goal is to shed that shirt at the pool… better get cracking at it! lol. Results don’t come instantly. ha ha.
Of course, women have a fine line. Moms/women hate to see fit women in bikinis. Especially if those women are wearing one-pieces or tankinis. Believe me, I know. I have been there. So its rather tricky to wear a bikini around other friends or women that don’t. They want to claw your eyes out. lol! Not really, but it gets under their skin and on the other hand… it may just motivate them to get it in gear and get moving towards their fitness goals… which is what I love to do!! MOTIVATE!!
Keep those giggles and laughs going….. its all good! Keep your training hard and keep it fun!!
