Taking some time off…

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

I will be off bodyspace for a bit….tooo much happening in my life right now….especially on a personal level…I’m not ignoring anyone, just need to take care of me now!  God Bless and keep the prayers coming!!

Just thinking out loud….

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

We are still not out of the woods with the flood…we are being pelted with snow right now, I’m actually snowed in!

But now that I’m stuck at home I’ve been thinking about some things…I am trying to understand why some people toy with someones feelings…here’s an example, a man or a woman that has several different people that they’re in contact with giving the impression to each one individually that they are the person of interest…it seems to me that to them it’s just a game…to see how many people they can "collect" or get the most from then move on….The reason I’m thinking about this is that it happened to me years ago, and recently I’ve had some friends experience this.  Don’t people realize that they are playing with people emotions and sometimes their lives?!  I know that goes on quite a bit on sites like this….you meet someone on line and plan to hook up or whatever….it’s to bad that people (not all) can’t be trusted….usually they are already in a relationship and seem to get a kick out of playing someone….or maybe it’s an ego booster for them…whatever the case may be I hope people are more careful about these types of relationships because when they blow up…they are not only painful but seem to have some major repercussions!  Ok I probably have too much down time right now and my mind is working over time! LOL

On a different note….my workouts are on hold for now due to a back injury.  I’ll be fine, I’m able to do cardio just not with an incline…at least it’s better than nothing! LOL  Looking forward to better days!  I’m staying dry for now and won’t need to evacuate…so that’s wonderful news!  Everyone have a wonderful day…and ty for all your prayers and support!!

GOD BLESS!

Still Waiting For The River To Crest…

Saturday, March 28th, 2009

We finished filling reserve sandbags at 6pm last night.  We’ve made over 3 million sandbags this past week thanks to all the wonderful volunteers!  We’ve had people come here from all over the US!   It’s been incredible!!  We are still waiting for the river to crest…then the real fight begins!  These dikes have to try to hold back all this water at extremely high levels for about a week…we have been back to freezing temps and it’s possible that the next storm system if we’re hit Monday-Tuesday could possibly dump another 2-4 inches of snow on us adding to our river levels.  I have a bag packed and my car is on higher ground just in case I need to evacuate….My home is at 42ft which is in the 500 year flood plane.

I hurt my back yesterday sandbagging when a young lady threw a sandbag at me before our line was in place…so I’m having problems walking and sitting.  One thing I did notice was there are so many weak young people in the community…they could barely lift a sand bag and these kids are 18-23!  WOW had no idea how unfit some of our younger generation is.  One young lady was complaining to me about how heavy the bags were and how did they expect them to get the job done if they don’t lighten them…I turned and looked at her in shock!  I told her I’m 53 and not having any problem with them…I told her to either suck it up or just go fill the bags instead….I let her know that her help was appreciated but not the complaining/whining as we were all trying to keep a positive attitude going to get through the task at hand.  Anyway…I’m recooping now with my back and doing some stretches to keep it from getting to tight.

I want to thank those of you here that have had encouraging words for me and all the prayers…I have been estranged from my family for years, so to have you check on me to see if I’m ok really touches my heart…I’ve not had one call from any of my family to see if I’m ok.  So again THANK YOU!  Have a great wkend and GOD BLESS!!!

RIVER STILL RISING…NEW CREST PREDICTION

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

Hi everyone!  Just when we thought things couldn’t get worse our river crest prediction has been raised to 42 to possible 43ft!  The worst flood since recorded history!  My home is now at risk, I’m at 42ft.  I have already packed a suitcase and moved my car to higher ground in case I need to evacuate.  Our Hospital is now evacuating as a precaution, our Long Term Care Facility’s have been evacuating since earlier today.  We have had some dikes breached and homes evacuated…for the most part we are still on top of it but we have only 24 hours to get the rest of the dikes increased in height.  I’m doing fine just tired…I even stole some some time to get my workout in then back to sandbagging.  I’m more concerned about others that have already lost their battle with the river.  I will try to keep my friends posted, but will not be able to be on much as there is still so much to help with.

Keep the prayers coming…they are very much appreciated!!!

UPDATE on OUR FLOOD…

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

Just a quick update if anyone is interested.  Our river has been rising 3ft a day for the past two days…we are expected to crest at a record breaking 41ft on Saturday.  We accumulated another 6 inches of snow by late last night and another weather system is coming in.  We have less than 36 hours to raise our dikes 1-3 more feet depending on where it is….there are 12 miles of it to top off.  Yesterday the US Coast Guard rescued people from an area where the dike breached and over took their homes…they moved them out by air boat, it was the only way in or out.  Then last night an acquaintance and his family(just south of me) was air lifted by basket from there home by the US Coast Guard.  It is difficult getting around because all snow plows and equipment are only working to keep the main routes open all other streets have not been plowed…I am having a difficult time getting back and forth because the snow is so deep and has drifts in the streets.  I will be resting for awhile then going back to help again.

Everyone having good weather..enjoy and count your blessings!  Keep the prayers coming…WE REALLY NEED THEM!!  God Bless and have a great day!!!

COULD USE YOUR PRAYERS!

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

We are racing against the clock right now trying to sandbag to be ready for the river crest on Friday.  If it reaches the predicted level it will be the worst flooding for us in 112 years!  I have been helping sandbag…we don’t have enough people to help right now for all the work that needs to be accomplished.  We needed 2 million more bags as of last night!  The canceled all classes at Concordia college, MSUM, and NDSU yesterday so that students and faculty could help, we also are having students bused in from UND in Grand Forks to help.  Our High schools have been busing students for 3 hours shifts to either fill bags or help stack them…some dikes need to be built up anywhere from 2-5 feet yet because the prediction went up.  A lot of businesses have let their employees go to help.

A lot depends right now on our weather…we have had a fast melt and are expecting more precip tonight….we got an extra .5 inches of rain yesterday.  The Red Cross and Salvation army have been incredible so far in this effort helping to feed everyone that’s working around the clock!  So if you pray…please send some extras our way!  Thanks in advance!! GOD BLESS!!!

Preparing for a flood!

Saturday, March 21st, 2009

We are preparing for a flood right now..they have stepped up emergency preparedness and sand bags are being filled round the clock.  Our flood is expected to exceed the 1997 flood which was the worst in our history for this area in North Dakota and a portion of Northern Minnesota.  They have closed off some major streets to build temporary levy’s.  I live only about 6 blocks from the river….so I will be getting a  lot of my workout helping sandbag starting tomorrow.  A lot of how bad the flooding will be depends on our weather…we are getting into temps in the low 50’s now and we have so much snow yet so between the melt and we are expecting a large amount of rain as early as Sunday night…Could use everybody’s prayers!  I will be volunteering with the Red Cross again as I still hold an active Nursing License.  Have a Great Weekend everyone!  God Bless!

OK..what does it take or where do I go to get an answer?!?!

Monday, March 16th, 2009

Sorry don’t mean to bitch, I rarely ever get angry…but! I seem to have BO or something cause I don’t haven’t any luck getting answers on this site…I was referred to someone regarding my question…but I must not be kool enough, popular enough, not on a "team", or God forbid someone share info they’re not getting paid for!!  Yeah I’m PISSED, it happens to me all the time!…I’m on here for support and help not trying to see how many men I can attract to my page!!  I’m off here for a few days to cool off and find some help maybe locally! By the way this is not regarding the men…they have helped in general but they don’t live in a woman’s body cause guess what?…WE ARE DIFFERENT!!!

Women over 40…

Sunday, March 15th, 2009

Just thought I’d share this, my best friend sent it to me LOL!
In case you missed it on 60 Minutes, this is what Andy Rooney thinks about women over 40:
60 Minutes Correspondent Andy Rooney (CBS)
As I grow in age, I value women over 40 most of all. Here are just a few reasons why:
A woman over 40 will never wake you in the middle of the night and ask, ‘What are you thinking?’ She doesn’t care what you think.
If a woman over 40 doesn’t want to watch the game, she doesn’t sit around whining about it. She does something she wants to do, and it’s usually more interesting.
Women over 40 are dignified. They seldom have a screaming match with you at the opera or in the middle of an expensive restaurant. Of course, if you deserve it, they won’t hesitate to shoot you if they think they can get away with it.
Older women are generous with praise, often undeserved. They know what it’s like to be unappreciated.
Women get psychic as they age. You never have to confess your sins to a woman over 40.
Once you get past a wrinkle or two, a woman over 40 is far sexier than her younger counterpart.
Older women are forthright and honest. They’ll tell you right off if you are a jerk, if you are acting like one. You don’t ever have to wonder where you stand with her.
Yes, we praise women over 40 for a multitude of reasons. Unfortunately, it’s not reciprocal. For every stunning, smart, well-coiffed, hot woman over 40, there is a bald, paunchy relic in yellow pants making a fool of himself with some 22-year old waitress. Ladies, I apologize.
For all those men who say, ‘Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free? here’s an update for you. Nowadays 80% of women are against marriage. Why? Because women realize it’s not worth buying an entire pig just to get a little sausage!
Andy Rooney is a really smart guy
