Updates

Monday, September 21st, 2009

So, I HAVE been keeping track, but it’s all been on facebook.  Unfortunately, over the weekend, I got a little crazy with nuts.  Back to the drawing board.  I definitely need more control of myself, because this is getting ridiculous.

I will be posting past workouts soon.  Wish bb.com would hook up with facebook so one could keep track of workouts, cardio, calories burned and calories consumed, along with a diet log.  That would be bad ass.  Even just for bodyspace.  If I had me one of them cool phones, I could keep track of it all, including having an MP3 player all in one.

I kept up with all my workouts and diet had essentially been clean for the most part.  I still need to eat more often on the weekends, which would probably explain the nut binge.

Cardio yesterday.  Plan on cardio & lifting today.   Hopefully.  I didn’t sleep much last night, so I’ll have to see how my body reacts.

Peace out.

Days Later

Friday, September 11th, 2009

I really should be keeping track of my progress on here.  At any rate, my diet’s pretty much the same a couple of days go, save for adding an extra meal, or two, which is always protein powder.  Which I eat when I get home, so the only real food I seem to be eating lately is chicken for lunch, otherwise known as my 3rd meal.  I should eat more real food.  At least my water intake is up.  My fruit intake is much more minimal.  Fat intake has stopped.

This week I’ve gone on the treadmill Tuesday and last night and will again tonight & hopefully tomorrow morning… bull****, screw hopefully, make that a definite.  Trained in muay thai Wednesday, so now my shoulders are crying in complete agony.  Not to mention, I finished my Chest/Bicep weight training after it, so it hurt much more and my gains sucked.  I trained back/triceps last night.  I could’ve done much better had my biceps not been sore due to my impinging issues.

At any rate, starting Sunday I will be posting more often will progress pics up every week.  This will most definitely motivate me much more to keep up with the workouts and my meals.  It’s also increased my motivation to hear that I am an inspiration to others.  So, I gotta keep up with it!  :o )

Peace out!

Labor Day Weekend & Yesterday

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

So, this weekend was sort of productive.  I didn’t end up doing legs due to having gone hiking up a different side of Skinner Mountain (Hadley, MA) and carrying my 18 mo old nephew up on my back who now weighs 20lbs.  This side of the mountain was far rockier than the way I usually go up, which is the way most "tourists" go up, not to mention, much steeper.  My legs and ass were BURNING.  I was expecting extreme soreness the next day, or two, but had none.  So, I figured, Saturday would’ve been considered my active rest day/leg day.  That night, we’d gone to Osaka (Japanese hibachi steakhouse) and had gotten my last sushi for the next 8 weeks.  I was sure to only get the leaner fish (i.e. tuna, yellowfin, etc… no salmon).  I decided to try two of their newest special rolls: the Volcano roll and the Foxy Lady (touch of avocado)… they were pretty good, although the Foxy Lady had a tiny piece of parsley leaf underneath the pear, which gave it more of a cilantro flavor to the roll… guess I wouldn’t really recommend that one, although it was good, the parsley they could’ve done without.  I barely ate this weekend, which isn’t good when your dieting out for a competition.  I ate 2 to 3 meals a day.  I usually eat about 5 to 6.  Barely drank the water I should’ve been drinking.  At any rate, due to that "time of the month", I’d also gained quite a bit of weight, so weighed myself that morning and was about 117 to 118.  Sunday and Monday mostly leisure walked, no workout, which weren’t my intentions, but I got lazy.

Yesterday, had every intentions of lifting, never did.  My depression and anxiety got the best of me.  I did walk for about 50 min outside with my family and a friend.  A bit slow at first, because my friend insists on coming with us with her double-stroller.  I usually book it, even with a stroller, but she was holding me up, says she’s pushing about 80lbs (I’d guess more like 50, otherwise I’d worry about her children weighing so much).  At any rate, maybe about half way through I was able to go my usual pace of 4.5mph, or over.

I believe I only got to eat like four meals… again, anxiety & depression… was also nauseous.  Meals consisted of my usual:

Meal 1: pp & oatmeal with coffee

Meal 2: pp (had appt, no time to take the oatmeal)
Meal 3: chicken, green beans & oatmeal

Meal 4: pp & fruit (yeah, gotta stop the fruit, too)

Watched a bit of tv and went to bed around 11.  Need to head to bed earlier.  It will do me better to focus on lifting, eat better and of course, reduce times of anxiety & depression.  Still debating on the show.  Look like **** right now.  Hoping to lean out a lot more by the end of the month.

Peace out.

Countdown to NPC October 31

Monday, August 31st, 2009

so, I’m still trying to decide whether I want to compete in the October 31 show.  I’m going to see how things go withint he next 3 weeks before making a defininte decision, but in the meantime, no fats, same carb 3x day and same protein 5 to 6 x per day.

Yesterday, just in case, I went to the gym in Tolland and got my cardio session out of the way.  Good thing I did, because my fiance and I went hiking in Purgatory Chasm and I got hurt.  I had one hand on each rock, but my left foot inevitably slipped between 3 of those two rocks.  I thought I had broken my leg, instead I left, but not unscathed.  I’m now proudly wearing horrible scrapes and bruises like a badge of honor.  Unfortunately, as we continued hiking, I thought I’d only bruised a little with few scrapes, but was actually dripping blood from below my knee and my bruise now hurts when blood is rushed to it, like it would when doing any form of cardio, so I was unable to do the cardio today, but did get my lifting in.

Eating clean is proving to be a little difficult, however, it’s cleaner still than I normally would’ve been considering some circumstances and to most people, would be laughable for me to feel guilty, because if I stop to think about it, it’s really not bad.  I mean, who cheats on fruit??  So, here on out, nor more fruit, more veggies if I feel like munching.

Let’s see how this week rolls.  I’ll post stats on Sunday.  I gained about 9 lbs since before I left for Portugal earlier this month, which I can only assume to be water at this point, for I would’ve had to have eaten a lot more calories than I had every week since then to get to that.  Of course, I weighed this afternoon after a full stomach, which is stupid and I’m about due for that time of the month.

Until then….

Getting Back into the Swing of Things

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

I haven’t blogged in a bit, nor have I posted my workouts.  It’s more motivating for me to do so, but I’m f’n lazy as heck, I guess, or I forget.  I usually post them the day after I work out.  No matter… I plan on doing it soon.  This week anyway.

Just got back from Portugal a couple of Saturdays ago.  It was nice to take a break from working out and working…. hate my job.  I was hoping I’d have a great workout week last week since I’d gotten a break, but no, instead it seemed more challening than usual.  Oh, well.

I should also start posting recipes and stuff I eat for those of you who are in the same shoes, or were in the same shoes as I.  Believe me, some may not sound very tasty, but if you’re desperate, they are.  I should also post recipes for those of us who have similar precontest diets:i.e. little to no fat, no fruit and no diary.  However, they will be posted for my rough estimate of the carbs/proteins I eat, so you’ll have to adjust accordingly.

Until next time…

Briefing About Show & Other Things

Monday, July 27th, 2009

So I came in at the show leaner than I’d ever been.  Figured out after pre-judging I could’ve benefited from having an early carb meal, as I filled out and looked even leaner.  Oh, well, what are you gonna do?  Ya live an learn.

I met some great people at this show, though, so I had a pretty good time.  Once again, however, I did not place.  I don’t know why I stopped doing NPC.  I always placed better at the NPCs than I do at Naturals.  Sad part is, I am natural.  So maybe I have a little more testosterone than the next girl and can build muscle like a beast, doesn’t mean I’m not natural.  Obviously testing was done at this show and I’m a horrible liar anyway, so had I done steroids (they asked three times) it would’ve been evident in my lies.  Either way, they seem to like the smaller, emaciated look.  I may try another OCB, or try the Monster Mash again, but I’m definitely doing an NPC in the fall.  It will have been 2 yrs in October since I’ve done one, all because I had to listen to some uneducated nutrition coach when she told me NPC is leaning more towards bikini looking girls… ummm… isn’t that what B-I-K-I-N-I is for??  Correct me if I’m wrong.  They have fitness, sports model/bikini, figure, body building… what more could they want??  All these stupid girls who dye their hair blonde trying to make a name for themselves.  Blah, I don’t even care to be in an effen magazine, or be an effen model.  Don’t make you any more of an athlete than a girl who could kick your ass in muay thai.  I digress.  However, a girl who placed 5th, even the girl who placed 6th could’ve replaced her… she did not have "the look", her legs looked like she had a major case of cellulitis and her posing wasn’t THAT great.  In fact, most of the girls didn’t bring the whole package on stage, which is what figure is essentially supposed to be about, but it is a rather subjective sport, so what can you do?  At least one of the judges liked my look and had me placed higher, while another loved everything about me except I could’ve been leaner.  So, to each his/her own.

Haven’t blogged, I know.  Not much to tell.  Still training, no time off.  I’m leaving for Portugal next Friday, so that is the reason.  My cousin doesn’t own a gym, nor is there a gym nearby, so I will be unable to really train, aside from doing plyos and lots of walking.

Trained at the gym yesterday with my fiance.  It’s been some time since we last trained together, with him helping me.  I rather enjoyed it.  I like training with him.  He’s as focused as I am, and gets me even more focused when I feel like giving up.  Great guy to have there.  We both just weight trained.  I plan to continue with weight training this afternoon, try to get in a walk and possibly some muay thai.  I really miss it, but my shoulder doesn’t.

Little Less Than One Week Out

Thursday, July 2nd, 2009

So far it appears I’m doing alright.  Keeping up with my workouts and trying to get them all in prior to this weekend in case New England decides to not be rainy.  Didn’t feel too well Monday, so I was able to at least get my weight lifting in.  Tuesday I had gone for my speed walk with my sister in the freakin humid 85 degree weather.  That was actually quite difficult.  I then went to Stop & Shop to buy more broccoli so I don’t have to worry about my meals in the upcoming peak week.  Planning on getting tons of chicken & tilapia today at Costco.  So I should be somewhat stress free.  All I have to worry about is the tanning (which I’ve managed to eff up the last two times and had to have it corrected), makeup & hair, oh and peak week diet… yeah… fun times to be had.  Just can’t wait to have sushi again…

I appear to be leaning out alright, too.  I haven’t weighed myself for this to be certain, just looking in the mirror.  My lower abdomen decided to distend again, for no apparent reason, but I’m hoping it’s just water.  I’m about due for that time of the month, maybe that’s it.  I’m also noticing my skin holds more water than it used to and the skin on the lower half of my body is looser, but, I’ll deal.

So, we’ll see how things turn out in the coming days.  Peace out.

Still Keeping Up

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

So far, I’ve been keeping up with my workouts.  Not that I hadn’t initially, but I don’t procrastinate and wait until the next day.  I just do it.  Probably because I have busy weeks as of late.

So, I went on the treadmill yesterday and today.  A bit rough yesterday as my legs were killing me from Saturday’s Leg/Shoulders routine.  They still hurt today.

I was actually done early and decided to do absolutely nothing after.  I was actually awaiting a phone call from an old friend, to no avail, but found out from another friend that her friend has advanced breast cancer and that both breasts must be removed… that sucks.

So, I’m hanging in there.  I don’t see much of an improvement in the body area, but we’ll see how things turn out at the end of the week.  I really would like to impress a friend of mine who’s helping me out with OCB posing… well, impress to the point where she would notice changes in the body that refuses to do so.  ;o)  Peace out.

24 Days Out Till Show

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

So, I actually had done my cardio and lifted yesterday.  I procrastinated for about an hour before I actually got around to the lifting.  It seems to be getting better.  I’ve been thinking about what’s up with the procrastination and I can only come up with two reasons: 1) My body’s gone to hell since I had surgery and it’s definitely not the same, or reacts the same it used and 2) any pain I incur due to working out (i.e. shoulder tendinitis, pulling something, etc.).  Once I get passed number one, I’ll be fine with number two.  After all, even though I’m in pain in my shoulders, I still attend my muay thai training, because I just absolutely love the sport.  I’d actually like to consider a match, however, I suck at sparring.  Mostly due to not knowing how and the fact that I’m afraid to get hurt.  Not hit, but hurt.  I hate pain.

My nutrition was a bit better, although I have done my last "splurging" on jello and had like a teaspoon, or less, of pb to which I felt guilty.  So, no more.  Just one serving of Jello and protein for my last meal.  Maybe I’ll mix the protein with cocoa powder.  Make it chocolatier.  :o )

Came up with a new recipe for those interested in something new.  This may sound kind of "eh", but it’s actually pretty tasty, specifically frozen.

Jell-0 & Pudding

1 box Vanilla pudding, sugar-free, fat-free

1 box Jell-O flavor of choice, I used raspberry, my fave

Prepare Jell-O according to speed set directions.  Be sure to allow the Jell-O to get really thick, even if you have to stick it in the fridge for a while.  You don’t want it set, just thickened.  Then prepare pudding according to directions.  If dairy is allowed in your diet, knock yourself out and use fat-free milk.  In this case, I used water.  Yes, not as tasty, but effective for cravings.  Allow that to set, or thicken up.  Once both are thickened, mix pudding with Jell-o, but do not mix thoroughly.  Allow for swirl in there, like a swirling for a marble cake.  Either put in ramekins, or small dishes and set in fridge, or put them in popsicle molds (good ones do exist, you may have to get them through Tupperware) and set in freezer.  Enjoy!

So, as I said, I had like the fridge version and a popsicle.  Popsicle style was WAY better.  I’m assuming the pudding isn’t that great to have, seeing as how I’m cutting carbs down to 2 a day for 5 days.  This is for cravings, so I’ll use it for that and probably prepare regular Jell-o to have more of.

Gotta start drinking Redi-Cat around 2 PM today for my CT Scan later at 8 PM.  Have to drink half at two and the other have 90 min before.  So not looking forward to it.  It smells citrucy and my sister and I tasted (has a nurse practitioner, it’s only fair she tastes it).  It’s pre-mixed.  She said it tasted like an orange creamsicle.  I didn’t believe her, so I tasted it.  It does, but with a super strong orange tang in the back of your tongue.  I put it in the fridge so that it would be a bit more tolerable.

Gotta go.  Peace out.
