LIFT goes back to Lift’n

Monday, November 26th, 2007

It’s been awhile since I’ve hit the weights and buckled up my diet. I went home for Thanksgiving and it was a harsh reminder of many things. I grew up in the Midwest where you’re taught to eat three square meals and not to leave the table until your plate is clean. That on top of the weather (it’s either super cold or super hot/humid), add up to a number of overweight people. I, like many Americans, ate way too much turkey and more than one dessert over the weekend. I felt like crap, I had next to no energy and now it’s time to get back into the health groove. No, this isn’t a New Year’s resolution, it’s a wake up call. Eight years ago I was overweight and took on the Body-For-Life Challenge, I took on new lifestyle and new view on health. I’m going back to the small meals a day and quick, but effective, workouts.

There is no excuse for not making it to the gym or doing some type of workout. I will keep you posted on my workouts, progress and when the 2008 contest season rolls around you will see a new, lean and trim Lift Studio. I will document everything I do along the way and post it here for the Bodyspace peeps. This week is my transition week, where I will start to clean up my diet and get back into the workouts. I’ve been doing cardio but not weights and while I haven’t been eating horrible I haven’t been eating often enough. This has slowed my metabolism and it’s time to kick start that puppy.

I woke up at 7:30. Made a pot of coffee and a Chocolate Whey protein shake. I mixed a little of the coffee in with the shake to give it a coffee/mocha type taste. I will drink 1/2 of the shake before my workout about 1/2 hour before doing weights. This gives me a little more energy to do weights early in the morning.

Stay tuned for more and feel free to post any comments, questions or suggestions you have.
