Cardio machines…to do or not to do!

Ok, so I have to confess something…I HATE CARDIO MACHINES!! They bore me to death! I been trying real hard to stay on the treadmill, elliptical, crosstrainer, recumbant bike, you name it for at least 30 minutes but its so damn hard! I could last 30 and then Im off doing box jumps and jump ropes just to get me thru my cardio. So, today Im taking a day off of training for fear of injury because I been doing str8 3 days of box jumps and jump ropes for cardio because thats the only type of cardio that gets me pumpin. I love box jumps!! I do it in a circuit along with jump rope and mt. climber and that really gets me going. I just dont know if its gonna hurt my training if I dont incorporate the machines for cardio to mix it up. Hope not!

wat about swimming, aim to push that lil harder in the water helps to improve cardio, and u’ll get toned all over at the same time, just a thought, have a great weekend :O)

ANY cardio is good cardio- and I know what you mean! I HATE cardio! Get me outside and doing something fun- but in the gym? Hate it!

Rotate through the different machines- 15 minutes on the bike/elliptical/treadmill/stairclimber- whatever! There’s no "perfect" cardio, so mixing it up not only keeps it from getting boring, but trains different muscles differently.

As long as you get your heart pumping, do what you love to do. You’ll be more likely to stick with it. I don’t think you’ll hurt your training by not doing cardio on the machines.

Do you do HIIT or steady-state cardio? I do a lot of HIIT & love it. I find long steady-state cardio plodding & BORING. HIIT is way more intense, but doing intense intervals focuses your concentration, so it’s less boring. But I really like that fact that 15-30 min’s max is all that you need for going hard with HIIT. It’s also a better fat-burner throughout the day AFTER the workout. :D

Lift weights more and slack off the cardio.Cardio will not shape your body and muscle will turn you into a fat burnig machine. Over the last few months,I’ve had to cut cardio out dramatically because I was losing weight like a mad woman.

I find that my ipod helps me through my cardio because if I don’t have it cardio is not happening that day

Ride a Bike while playing Wii Tennis!

My fav! 45 Minutes of Bike keeping my HR to 135. Jam on the Wii then go walk my Boxer Deunan.

Cardio is not a neccessity. I rarely do cardio on the machines, and when I do it’s 10 minutes at a moderate pace with high resistance. You can get the same results from high intensity weight training and proper diet than you can from hours of monotonous cardio.

I workout on the weights more than anything else, but i do cardio and intense fitness training at least once a week. I also purchased some gym fitness equipment at http://www.pjfitness.co.uk

    nice blog

I agree with most people, weight training is the way to go.try doing less cardio and more resistance training. cardio is good for your heart and lungs hence cardiovascular system :) and watch your diet calories, protein, carbs. fats..etc. Other than that your looking great!
