Cardio machines…to do or not to do!

May 29, 2009

Ok, so I have to confess something…I HATE CARDIO MACHINES!! They bore me to death! I been trying real hard to stay on the treadmill, elliptical, crosstrainer, recumbant bike, you name it for at least 30 minutes but its so damn hard! I could last 30 and then Im off doing box jumps and jump ropes just to get me thru my cardio. So, today Im taking a day off of training for fear of injury because I been doing str8 3 days of box jumps and jump ropes for cardio because thats the only type of cardio that gets me pumpin. I love box jumps!! I do it in a circuit along with jump rope and mt. climber and that really gets me going. I just dont know if its gonna hurt my training if I dont incorporate the machines for cardio to mix it up. Hope not!

Travel can surely wreaks havoc on training and dieting..

May 18, 2009

Just got back from New York watching the NY Pro over the weekend and this morning I stepped on the scale and I gained f&@*ing 6lbs!!!! Damn little Italy and their damn good pizza. I admit , I did splurge over the weekend but not bad. I dont normally eat cheat meals every week. As a matter of fact, I dont remember having a cheat meal when I was on the program but just 2 slices of pizza and a hot dog over the weekend plus I had the first class sundae’s (lol), ….oh and i almost forgot, their famous NY cheesecake, and Im paying for it now!! Daymmmm!!! What was I to do, I was in New YORK!! Im not real disappointed though, I just need to regroup and hit it harder this week. You only live once! I think the most important thing is to recognize it and get back on track.

Beyond 300 workout

May 4, 2009

So over the last weekend I was at the airport and I flipping thru a "HERS" magazine and I came upon a routine called "beyond 300" and i decided that I would try it. It asks for 50 box jump, 50 romanian deadlifts, 50 pushups, 50 assist wide grip pullups, 50 clean squat and press, and 50 lying leg raise with db chest press. Its a timed workout and the goal was to get it all done within 30 mins. Sounds like an hour worth of workout! Well, on saturday I did 23 mins and 35secs which im very proud of!! Its hard!! Those box jumps got me winded. I went home and iced my legs and Im still sore today but it was sooo good!! So im thinking of incorporating this routine in addition to my regular workout once a week. Maybe in a month I can increase work my way to increasing the reps and still keep it within 30 mins.

Dayymmm!!!! Arms on fire!!

April 17, 2009

Today was arm and abs day and it was brutal!! 100 reps each muscle group each set for 3 f&%$@*g sets and my shoulders and biceps was poppin!!! Whaat whaat!! What an adrenaline rush that I piss myself grunting!!(lol). And I look forward to my workouts like that from hereon!!

Aint nothing short of incredibles! ANd I look forward to some major changes over the next 3 months. Oh yea! ITS ON BIATCH!!!

Nothing worth gaining was ever gained without effort!

April 16, 2009

SOmetimes I ask myself if this is all worth it. Trying to balance life, work, relationships, etc. Its hard to stay focused on making sure I get all my meals in, my workouts, and being consistent and discipline in everything I do that will bring me closer to my goal. The agony, the pain after a good beatdown at the gym and especially the willpower to get up early every morning and get to the gym. But, the moment I see some results, a boost of confidence rushes in, and I smile all over again looking forward to do it again. Hard working and discipline pays off! big time!! So, when youre in doubt remember, that rome wasnt built in a day! Happy training to all!!

Can I say Miserable!!

April 2, 2009

Ugh!!! Just when you think youre unstoppable, something evil stops you in your tracks. Im pissed! Its been 6 days since I had the influenza virus and Im miserable!! Ive never watched so much television and sick of sleeping that my ass is numb!! I dont know how couch potatoes do it! Im going stir crazy. I get an ounce of strenght in me and I wanna just put on some sweats and go run. But I know better!

So, Im impatiently waiting pacing myself at home. I need to fully recover which it would take me at least another few days. Understanding that Im gonna miss alot of days of working out, I had to do everything right at home to stay on track. I kept to my meal plan, hydrated myself, sleep(I had no choice there), and get well. This morning I lost 3lbs which Im guessing its from all the sweating out from the fever. But Im counting down the days! I miss that feeling after I get a good workout in!(lol). Im pathetic!! Until then, I evny every mutha&$@*#^ thats getting their workout!!

Peace.

Pace yourself…

March 19, 2009

Ha! Two days ago, I added plyometrics to my workout and yesterday it took me at least 4 minutes to get up or down the stairs because of all the pain in my legs and especially calves. But I dragged myself to the gym for my weight training session. Last night, I got a massage to help with the pain and stretch the muscles and boy I dont know if it was a bad idea or what! I woke up this morning and it took me at least a minute to get from my bed to my bathroom which is 10ft  away. It was sore, and I mean like swollen! Those damn box jump got me!! So, I took some ibuprofen and Im taking the day off today and  just let it rest and heal so I can hit it hard tomorrow morning!! I feel like a broken engine today:-). ugh! But, Saturday, Im gonna hit those plyos again cause I want these legs nice and define by summer!!  Lesson to learn here is to pace yourself into training. Its not good when you injured, because then you’ll fall behind on your training. Im bad at that! I do too much at once. But hey, no pain no gain right?!! Happy workout to all you training freaks!!
