What I’ve been up to!

October 3, 2009

Well here it is 5 months after competing and things have been crazy.  I thought I wanted to continue competing so I went on a massive bulk over the summer.  Bulking during the summer isn’t fun cuz I like to be lean during the summer but, oh well….ya gotta do what ya gotta do.  Anyways I cut my cardio out completely and started eating around 4500 calories a day…I also wasn’t as strict as normal and if the opportunity arose to eat some junk I just said to hell with it and ate it.  All in all I was pleased with my bulk as I hit 195 lb by mid August.  I was 147 on stage at my show in April so I gained some serious weight to say the least.  I wanted to get up to 200 lb but at 195 I was so damn uncomfortable I had to start cutting.  So here I am a month and a half later at 176 lb and 5% bodyfat.  At 195 I was up to 8%.  Back in March I was 155 lb at 5% so I had some great gains through the bulk to say the least and as I lean up I can see a more than notable difference in the size of my delts, back, and legs…all places where I felt like I needed to grow.  I love the look of fuller, more well rounded delts that continue to POP as I get even leaner.  Competing is pretty much out the window for me now as I don’t have a real desire for it at this time….maybe down the road.  It was cool to do it once and who knows, maybe one day I will again but for now I’m just chillin I guess.  I would like to start staying super lean year round as I’ve had some opportunities arise in the fitness modeling industry and to me that would be much more fulfilling and lucrative than amateur bodybuilding.  Anyways, that’s what I’ve been up to the last 5 months or so.  I need to get some new pics posted on my profile and they will come soon!!!

1st place Men’s Open Lightweight!

April 21, 2009

Well I made it through the competition.  What an awesome experience.  I couldn’t believe what I weighed in at before the morning pre-judge…147 lb.  I was definately skinny in the morning but after eating all day was much fuller at the night show.  It was an amazing difference in fullness and vascularity that’s for sure.  After 3 days of eating whatever I woke up this morning at 162 lb.!  Crazy what water weight can do to ya.  Anyways…competing was something I’ve always wanted to do…now I can say I’ve done it and walked away with my goal…1st place Men’s Open Lightweight!

3 Weeks to go!

March 29, 2009

With 3 weeks left I think I’m right on track.  These next 3 weeks will be crucial.  I’m working hard on posing and it’s kickin my ass.  I never thought posing would be so difficult.  To me competitive bodybuilding is the ultimate example of dedication, discipline, and self mastery.  I’m definately nervous but amazingly excited.  I just want to have fun…I’m giving it my all in preparation and on show day, whatever happens, happens.  I’m sittin right at 155 lb each morning with the lightweight division cutoff @ 156 1/4 I should come in perfect.  I wanted to be on the high end of the division as far as weight and it looks like that’s gonna work out.  I’m entering the Lightweight Open Division rather than Novice…I figure hell, why not jump in with both feet?  I like the competition.  We’ll see how things go these next 3 weeks…should be an adventure.  I’m posting new pics tonight of where I’m at.

2nd Post

March 15, 2009

So here it is March 15th and exactly 5 weeks from the NGA on April 18th.  At this point I’ve been training for the past 4 months with it in the back of my head.  I’ve never competed in my life nor was it ever an aspiration of mine until accompanying one of my clients to the NPC Las Vegas Classic where he competed in his first show.  It really got me excited about competing and thought what better place to do my first show than back in my home state of Idaho amongst friends and family so here goes nothin.  I’m doing it more for the experience and who knows if I’ll ever do it again after.  I think it would be cool to give it a try though and be able to tell my kids a cool story and show them so cool pictures and hopefully…a trophy.  I’m very nervous as posing in my nothins is seriously nerve wracking for me.  I’ve never posed before and have been practicing and it’s tough for me but I’ll get it.  I just hope over the next 5 weeks I’m able to do all the right things to be able to place in my division which will be lightweight.  Right now I’m sitting at 157 lb. and we’ll see how things go over the next 5 weeks!

First Post!!!

February 21, 2009

Well, this is my first post.  I got the word from a buddy of mine (Jeremy Finn) about this site.  He told me about it and it seemed pretty cool so I decided to join.  I’m excited about it because I believe this website is a good motivator for people and I’m excited about being able to mingle with other people who have the same interest in bodybuilding and working out as I do.  I think it will be cool to look at my profile a year from now and see what kind of changes I’ve made.  Anyways, to anyone that reads this….train your ass off…you don’t go to the gym to be comfortable…you can do that at home on the couch!
