Opportuniy Knocks

Training, for me, has and always will be a passion. The thought of capitalising on years of training are always there but never fully realised. I have been happy just helping a selected few and watching their results. I took on the Aus Fitness Level 3 & 4 trainers course for my own satisfaction. Then, along came the opportunity to try Miss Figure comps and i thought..wow!! this is what i have been looking for….so away i go and enter my first comp.

Rather than wait for results, i decided earlier to do this properly. Hence, a website and a professional photoshoot. Little did i know the Window of opportunity that was to follow. Sponsorships, photoshoots [prominent swimwear company] and now Sunstar records have asked me to feature in one of their upcoming artists Music Video Clip. The Happy Loser

Finally, the wait is over. Months of training and preapration…done…..and finished..At 38, it was always a goal of mine to compete in a Figure competition and until you do one…you really don’t know what your in for. How did i go you might ask??? Well, i didn’t do well at all. I made so many mistakes i think the audience scored more points than me…lol.

The funny thing is…."I’m not bummed about it". Why, not? Well, i never understood the meaning of "sometimes you have to lose…to win". I always thought it was a saying to try and make a loser feel happy. That is, until now. I was meant to go in 2 weeks to another comp. but instead i will be flying off to the exotic island of Bali for a swimsuit photoshoot!!!! YEEHAW!!Unbelievable.someone saw me onstage in my g-string outfit, got my info off a friend, rang me this morning and asked if i wanted to go…WOW..and i really sucked on stage!!

I don’t know if the other girls will be going as well, i hope they are cause they were breathtaking. I am really happy for the winner, i hope she does well in other comps. I don’t think i will have time to participate in another comp this year as RAGE Streetwear are preparing their catalogue for distribution in the Eastern States and they have also asked me to fly from Perth to Sydney for promotions.

I would really like to thank Brad and Loretta McMillan for organising the comp. If they hadn’t held the comp at this time of year, i wouldn’t have pursued this type of training. And more importantly i wouldn’t have had these opportunities…WOW

The Final Countdown

Well…the time has come. @ days to go before my first comp and I can’t wait… I’m feeling great and confident. We just started preparing my Jan Tana and boy!!!! do i look dark LOL…Saturday is DDay, but i am ready and i hope the show goes well. Wish me luck…I’ll keep u posted on what happens…

The Lucky One

4 weeks to go till my first comp and i just did a bodyfat test. By the looks of things i am at 8-9% bodyfat and i’m feeling great. I can’t wait for the comp. The best thing has not only been the training but also practising the poses and routine. I’m going to go out there and have fun. I guess i’m lucky cause i’ve been told i can ennter in either novice, open or masters? For me at this point, i don’t want any pressure so i will just be doing Novice this year and see what goes from there. Why rush things? Until i have had a bit of stage presence going, i won’t feel ready for open. As for Masters, well….i don’t feel over 40………what do u think?

Train The Mind

I find mental preparation is just as important as physical. When we feel good about ourselves, all of a sudden…our body looks great and feels great. We we feel down, our bodies look crap!!! Soooo…how do we fix it? Positive affirmations are a good start but currently i have found a motivational cd that makes positive suggestions subliminally. I didn’t really believe it would help but seriously…i can’t go to bed without it now. I listen to it before bed everynight. It helps me sleep and focus on my new sport of Figure Competition. What do you do? send a response of other ways for positive results…ok?

The Magic Pill

Everyone wants the magic pill..You know…….take a pill and you will have this amazing figure. Guess what? There isn’t one!!!We read sports mags and advertisements and see this "you beaut, fantastic body shaping pill" "take these and you too can look like Monica" Don’t get me wrong, these pills can do great things for our physique…I take my magic pills everyday!!! BUT>>>>> it’s not just about the pill. If you have dedicated yourself to taking your magic pill 2 tabs, 4 times daily…then why not commit yourself to training your body the same way. With consistency. I don’t mean to lecture but i am getting so many interested people asking me…"what do you take to look like you do?" We all want that magic pill but in reality….it all comes down to hard work and dedication……try it, you won’t be sorry!!

Food for Thought

Thanx to everyone who replied to my cry of help about vegies instead of meat…I have taken everyone’s advice and must say, i am feeling better for it…much better. My energy is up and training is going full steam ahead….Isn’t it amazing how our bodies are so responsive to positive training and positive eating..No wonder there are so many sick people out there. Living on a diet of cake and chocolates is only going to end up in bad health or obesity. People ask me all the time…"how do i get a body like yours"..when i tell them it’s all about eating right, they turn and say….."i do eat well". all the while chomping on a mars bar and sucking on a chocolate flavoured milk….when i explain that those things are fattening i get the reply…"but it’s fat free". Please!!!!!!! read the labels. Just because it’s fat free doesn’t mean it’s not fattening….DON’T KID YOURSELF..

No Brain, No Gain

Train smarter, not harder, for a long happy, healthy and funstional life.If we fail to give our body the respect it deserves then we will be setting ourselves up for a rapid decline after 50 years of age.You will enjoy training much more by following the protocols of functional fitness and your brain will be better for it. We all know what to do, let’s just not lose sight of our goal.

i know we all get told chicken or tuna or salmon is great for preparation to events but i don’t know if my body cann take it. If anyone has some good vegie alternatives for cutting up before a comp, please let me know….one can only eat so much tuna……..

My website is now accessible…leeannewalker.com…. It’s only the start, but it’s going. People don’t realise the work that goes in to making a website. If you know what ur doing…that’s fine. I really appreciate the work that goes into it. The finished product might look simple, but…it’s not. Stay tuned, cause i will be posting up all sorts of fun things…You know, like dieting, training, lol….hope u like it…but be patient, it’s still a work in progress.
