The Little Me That Could…

Friday, August 8th, 2008

Things are going superbly. I’ve been eating fairly healthy. I haven’t really been watching calories or portions really. But I have been making sure I’m eating protein, some sort of carb, and grains at every meal and snack. I’ve been getting back to eating healthy and mostly clean. I have no idea why I was so worried, it came so naturally to me again that it really hasn’t been a big deal. Also to help me along the way is our new Vivanno drinks at work. It’s like a smoothie I’d make at home complete with whey protein and everything. I always just grab one for one of my breaks and I’m good to go. Not to sound like an infomercial but they’ve been really helpful in staying healthy. I’ve been going to the gym regularly too. I have not skipped out on a workout yet. My only issue is days I close at work, I tend to just use the treadmill at home and not go for that long. But I always end up working hard at work and sweating it up. I’ve upped my weights already and starting to up reps too:

Squats: 15reps@20lbs, 10@30, 10@30

Crunches: 15, 15, 15

Dumbbell Bench Presses: 12@12.5, 12@15, 12@15

Wide-Grip Lat Pulldowns: 12@35, 12@50, 12@50

Incline Rear Laterals: 10@5, 10@7.5, 10@7.5

Dumbbell Presses: 10@7.5, 10@10, 10@10

Barbell Curls: 10@20, 10@30, 10@30

Lying Tricep Extension: 12@7.5, 10@10, 10@10

I always do about 20 min. cardio beforehand, and I do some stretches before or after, depending on how sore I am or how hard I worked. Cardio days are about 1 hour on the treadmill with my heartrate at about 60%. Some days it’s only 20 min, but that’s cause I also work hard at work on those days. Anywho, caio bellas!

Grocery Shopping Jitters

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

So here I am on the eve of my big grocery shop. Dad and BF are giving me money to grocery shop and I’m planning on buying healthy things. But I’m so nervous I’m going to buy all this food and ultimately fail. I feel like I have to plan out what I’m going to eat for the next 100 years. Which wouldn’t be so bad but it takes a lot of planning and whatnot. Maybe I should just relax, buy lots of healthy food and not overthink it. It really bugs me how there’s still lots of uneaten unhealthy food in the house. Like how am I going to fit all my chicken breasts in the freezer if it’s filled with frozen pizzas? Just the thought of eating all them makes me feel fat. Anyways I’m off to plan what I’m going to buy and what I’m going to eat for the next two weeks. Tata and chaio bellas!

Workouts

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

I’ve been following The Eat-Clean Diet Workout. I’ve started with the Beginner Workout which looks like this:

Squats: 10 reps, 3 sets, 20lbs warm-up, 30lbs last two sets

Bench Presses with Dumbells:  10×3, 10lbs, 12.5 lbs

Wide-Grip Lat Pulldowns: 10×3, 30lbs, 45lbs

Lying Tricep Extension: 10×3, 7.5lbs, 10lbs

Barbell Curls: 10×3, 10lbs, 20lbs, 20lbs

Crunches: 15×3

That’s what I’ve started with. I added Incline Rear Laterals and Dumbell Presses because I felt my delts were being ignored and needed work. I also added Prone Hyperextensions for my back and I took out the triceps because the Lat Pulldowns really work them, and I don’t want to overwork them. But I may added them back in.

For warm-up I do about 20 min. on the treadmill walking at a steep incline. It gets my heart pumping, but I don’t have to run.

Well that’s all about my workouts. Chaio bellas!

Back in Action

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

Wow. It’s been awhile, AGAIN! So, here’s an update: bf is now living with me (and my dad :S), I’m back at the gym, and I’ve moved stores! The BF moved down a couple months ago and things are so great with us. I think I’m going to end up with him. It’s been almost a year (in about a week) for us. What a lot has happened! I’ve moved to a new town that I love, I’ve found a job I really love, and I’ve found a boy, that I really really love. And so I figured it was time to get back to the gym. I’ve been going for about a week now, alternating weights with cardio. It’s been super easy because most of my shifts are opens (5:15 am) so I can head to the gym staright after work cause it’s on the way home. Now that I’ve moved to a new store, the driving is horrendous on gas and my wallet so any chance I can save some gas is a plus. Today I’ve decided not to do cardio because I’m closing tonite and I know that’s going to be a cardio workout all by itself. I always end up working my butt off and sweating. I think that has definitely contributed to me getting back into things. I’ve been working so hard at work that I’m actually losing weight just from working. Even with me having fast food for lunches (which I haven’t quite given up yet because I’m focusing on going to the gym on a regular basis). Anyways gotta run, I’ll post next time about my workouts and whatnot. Chaio bellas!

Saying Goodbye Is Hard To Do

Friday, July 27th, 2007

So I’ve been making the gym a regular thing. Except for the past week. I’ve had to say goodbye to my bf because he decided to move 2 provinces away. Not that we’re breaking up, just that it was decided before we got together. So today I had to say goodbye and I just couldn’t get to the gym before work. But I’ve lost about 9 lbs so far and I’m up to running 45 min no stopping. I’ve also got some definition going on. Come the fall I’ll be doing a 5k. Not sure when yet but I’m really excited. I’ve always wanted to be able to run that far but never been able to. On the treadmill I’ve got my time down to 30 min. I’m starting training on the road this week or next so we’ll see how that goes. Not really up for training these past few days as I got really burnt the other day from sitting outside. It’s just the one side of my chest, so I have a really funny burn which is going to be a really funny tan. It hurts to put on my workout gear. I’ve decided I love working out and it’s not a chore anymore, more like part of my routine or an activity I enjoy. I love going to the gym getting out of the house and mingling with the gym crowd. That’s all for now.

Still at it

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

I’m still working out and going to the gym. I can definitely see some differences in how I look. But it’s how I feel that’s more important. I feel good going to the gym. I don’t feel like I have to drag myself there. My program got a little bit messed up because I overdid it on my lower body day. I was sore for a good 3 days. But I’m back on it. I reduced the weights and I’m good to go now. Yesterday I did cardio for 45 min. I ended up jogging 8 min, walking 2.5 min, and then jogging for 25 min. (Plus walking before and after to make 45 min) It felt really good. The only reason I didn’t keep jogging was that I was getting tired, otherwise I could have gone for longer. Today I think I’ll do upper body.

Early

Tuesday, June 19th, 2007

The last two days I’ve gotten up earlier than 6 am. What’s wrong with me? I have never been a morning person. Yesterday I got up at 5 am, and was at the gym by 6. I was very tired at work, to say the least. I crashed at about 7:30 pm and woke up this morning at 5:30 am cause my roommate needed a ride to work. I don’t have to work til 4 pm today so I’m gonna go to the gym a bit later today. I’m also sore from working out. But it’s going well. The program that the trainer set up for me is pretty good. Yesterday was upper body so it went like this: warm up 10 min, pec dec 3×12 at 30 lbs., overhead v-up 3×12 10 lbs, skip for 1 min between sets, incline bicep curls 3×12 10 lbs, front raise 3×12 8 lbs, skip for 1 min between sets again, then back extension with twist 3×30 (which I didn’t finish because I’m weak), and then cardio for 20 min.

Today it’s cardio for 45 min - 1 hr.

That Itch

Thursday, June 14th, 2007

I’m actually looking forward to going to the gym tomorrow. What’s wrong with me?

I’ll give it some time, but I know that I’m not going to be thinking like this forever.

Connected

Thursday, June 14th, 2007

So I finally got my computer set up. And I happen to have internet again. Wahoo.

Went to the gym today and had a program set up for me. I did a little bit of it today and man am I gonna die. M W F are strength days, M being upper body, W being lower, and F is full body. Then T Th S is cardio. Sunday is rest day. We’ll see how it goes. I swear today my thighs have never been worked that hard and I only did one circuit of leg press, calf raises, lunges, and skipping. I’m already sore from yesterday. But I think this will be good.

Anywhoodles, must clean. TTFN.

Two In A Row???

Wednesday, June 13th, 2007

Yes I went to the gym two days in a row. Yesterday I went with my roommate and did 15 min of walking, and about 45 min of using the machines, but not going all out (I’m afraid of burning out right away). So today I went and did 15 min of walking and 45 min of using the machines again but this time just focused on my upper body. I feel sore today but I’m feeling really awesome. I forgot how good I feel after I work out. Like my roommate says ‘It’s better to go by how you feel than how you look.’ If I’m going to focus on how I look right now, I know I’m going to get discouraged. So I’m only focusing on how I feel when I work out and it feels great. Today I was at work and almost wishing I could go back to the gym. Anyways tomorrow I have my appointment and then I convinced my friend who I work with to go with me since he hasn’t been to the gym in a year yet still pays every month. So now I have at least two gym partners. I’m hoping that will keep me motivated.

I think the difference between me now and me then is that before I didn’t have a gym membership so I was only doing stuff I could do at home which really discouraged me. I felt that I couldn’t really get the workout I wanted. But now I can.

Go me!
