It seems to be the time of year when "it’s always something" happens. I recently strained my neck and back - it’s feeling better. The day after Thanksgiving I come down with a cold that I’m pretty sure my dad gave me “Thanks Dad”. I haven’t been to the gym in two days because I didn’t want my cold to get worse.
Well, obsessed Morgan decides she just can’t take it anymore and goes crazy in the gym last night. I have to admit, it was one of the best workouts I’ve had in a long time - but I’m definitely feeling it today. Ugh!!!
I completed my back & shoulders workout along with a bis & tris workout to make up for lost time. =)
20 Minutes Cardio - Treadmill
Metabolic Circuit (DB Flye, Kickback, Curl, Press = 1 rep) 15×10x3
Between each set I completed 10 reps of each metabolic circuit exercise - Burn baby Burn…
Lateral Raise - 12.5×12x3
DB Press - 25×10x4
Superset Curls - 20×10x4
DB Tri Extension - 40×10x2
Cable Pulldowns (tri) - 70×12x4
Lat Pulldowns - 75×12 / 90×12x3
Cable Curls - 70×10x4
L-PushUps - 10×3

I tried to take it easy at the gym on Monday b/c of my current strained neck and lower back issues. Monday is my back workout so I was a little hesitant to even get my workout in because of the pain. But - ego gets in the way and here is how my workout went:
Cardio - 15 minutes on elliptical
Back
Wide Grip Cable Rows: 75×12 / 90×12x3
DB Rows: 37.5×12 / 40×12x3
DB Flyes: 15×10x3
Narrow Grip Lat Pulldowns: 75×12/90×10x3
No abs b/c of my back. =(
Cardio - 15 minutes on bike
Again, not the greatest workout ever - but it gets the job done…just have to get better b/c it’s almost time to start training again for competition season!!

For Thanksgiving, I opted out of working out on Thursday and Friday, but oh my….was I anxious to get into the gym come Saturday! My husband and I loaded up our car and took the 3 hour drive back to Austin. When we finally arrived, we agreed to help my father move his 600 pound hot tub to his back yard and onto his deck…whew…that was a workout in itself!
We finally made it to our house and changed into our workout clothes, got to the gym and had a killer workout. I unfortunately had the bad luck of straining my neck doing reverse crunches on a decline bench. Ouch!! This didn’t surprise me at all. Hmmm….feeling fat and disgusting….yes! Why not throw in a strained neck so I can’t work out nearly as hard. Ugh….this is not going to slow me down!
Sunday morning I slowly rolled out of bed and donned my workout clothes and headed back to the gym. I walked on the treadmill for 45 minutes to get my heart rate up and to "hopefully" burn off some of those delicious calories I consumed over the holidays. I made it upstairs to the weight room and proceeded to have a fantastic shoulder workout - high rep, low weight since my neck still ached. No abs for me on Sunday though! I’ll be hitting them harder throughout the week. =)

So, I’m entering into a new journey. I haven’t decided yet if I’m going to compete next year of if I want to postpone all shows until 2011 (right before I turn 30). So until I decide, I’m going to continue to have kickass workouts and try to build as much muscle as possible. I will start posting my workouts on my blog…if you’re so inclined to read - please do so.
Today, since the Dolphins are playing football tonight, I decided to get a quick workout in during my lunch hour so I could go home and lounge around watching Thursday night football. With not much time to get a great workout in, this is what I managed to accomplish:
Back:
Narrow Grip Lat Pulldowns: 75×12 / 90×12 / 105×8x2
- Mountain Climbers/Lunges/Plie Squats between sets
Wide Grip Cable Rows: 90×12x3
- Bench Crunches / Reverse Crunch between sets
Shoulders:
Lateral Raise: 12.5×12x3
- Superset with DB Press: 25×10x3
L-PushUps: 12×2
Rear Delt Flyes: 60×12x2
That’s all I could fit during lunch but thought it was pretty good for a "lunch-break."
Tomorrow is my off day but will probably get in some cardio at some point.

After a weekend of celebrating my husband’s birthday by having a pizza eating contest and eating the world’s biggest cinnamon roll the following day - all I can say is that I’m miserable!!! My clothes aren’t fitting right, I’m uncomfortable, and I know how much time I’m going to have to put in the gym just to burn off those extra calories.
We had a fantastic time, nonetheless, and if I had it all to do over again, I probably would give in to my competitive nature and let me husband win - since it was his birthday. =)
Us darn figure competitors have quite the appetite that no one seems to realize or think is possible - well, I showed him. I will never do it again!!!
So, the journey begins…I had my fun and now it’s time to get serious again!
