I was reading a book the other night, and it was talking about the three major desires of a woman’s heart. One was to win the heart of a valiant warrior, the second was to share an adventure and the third was to have a beauty unveiled…
Isn’t this the stuff of fairy tales? I thought about it for a while, and the more I thought about it the more I saw the truth in it…I think there is a little girl inside all of us who desires these things…and that is why we are motivated to do the things we do.
I REALLY liked the part about having a Beauty Unveiled. Most of my clients come to me because they are getting ready for a big day and want the "Wow" factor. Proms, and weddings and social events drive them to the gym in hordes…
But then there is the crowd (yes, you women of Bodyspace) who just want to be their absolute best. That’s why we get so excited when we see these transformations take place….30 lbs lost and a smiling, confident woman proud to show her transformation! Muscles gained and a beautiful lady holding her flex for the camera! It’s our beauty being unveiled…and not just physically! It’s an inner strength we discover along the process, the adventure of doing something good…
So, keep at it, Ladies…it’s good for your soul!

It started last night. Working at my kids’ school carnival, I bent over to pick up a beanbag and noticed a little soreness in my hamstring. When I got in the car to drive everyone home, the seat was pressing into my leg and reminding me of the 5 sets of squats I did earlier in the day. During the night last night, I rolled over, and noticed that the sheet was kind of hurting my bottom…
It’s 9:30 pm now and I have decided that I am NEVER going to be able to sit, move, stand or breathe again without my BUTT HURTING!! OMG! There is not enough hot water in the world to soothe my aching backside! I’m dreading laying down….only 2 more hours till I can pop another Motrin. Come quickly….

I don’t know if you read my blog on straps, but I bought some to do hanging leg raises. I have to admit, I was a little nervous doing them for the first time, but I knew the proper form and bit the bullet and did it ( I actually waited until the gym was empty and then hopped on …just in case I couldn’t do it…) First attempt was good…soreness was immense!
Today, I felt more confident (being my second full week as the owner of my straps) and I hopped on in between a guy using the rack for deadlifts!! Can you believe my moxie?
I was completing my last set, when I noticed two ladies staring at me…"Oh, great,", I thought. "They are wondering why I’m even bothering." (Yes, I sometimes have self esteem issues. After I finished and was about to take them down, they approached. "Can you show us how to do that?" they asked.
"YES!!" I cried maybe a little too enthusiastically! I am, after all, a professional…and a day closer to the six-pack of my dreams!!

I know it’s not a huge accomplishment, but I made homemade cocoa this morning…and my kids LOVED it!
As a busy mom of 3, I sometimes take the easy way out with my kids. I will go thru the drive-thru or give them a pop-tart, or open a pack of sugary hot chocolate and let them have it. Last night, I got so convicted about what I’m putting in their bodies…I’m trying to undo damage done to my body and being slack with theirs.
So I got up early this morning and made them a healthy, cold weather treat. Good for them! Good for me!
Here’s the recipe:
1/4 cup Hershey’s Cocoa Powder (ANTIOXIDANTS)
1/2 c. Splenda or 1/3 c. Stevia ( I use stevia)
1 scoop Chocolate protein powder
dash sea salt
Mix dry ingredients together in a saucepan. Add 1/3 c. of hot water and bring to a boil over medium heat. Keep stirring or it will stick.
Add 4 c. skim milk
Keep heating until warm…don’t boil. Take it off the heat. Add 3/4 tsp. of vanilla flavoring and enjoy!!

I had a very heartbreaking experience today. My son, who is 12, has been extremely rude to his sisters and to me lately. Always angry, always feeling slighted, always ready to yell favoritism…I just thought it was a male thing and tried to overlook it and encourage him to be "nice" ( I know, I know…I don’t want to break his male spirit…I just want him to have self-control)
On Friday, when I picked him up from school, he decided that he wanted to play basketball ( we had already had this discussion, he refused to play and we missed the deadline). So, to prove to him that decisions have consequences, I told him it was too late and I would not jump through hoops for him). This bought me a weekend of pouting and insolence.
Today, at lunch, my daughter told me that he had been saying he hated me. I knew that wasn’t his heart, and so I asked him if he felt bad about himself and needed to take it out on the people that loved him. My preteen son burst into tears and told me that the boys in his class called him "shorty" and "shrimp" and didn’t think he could play and if I didn’t let him prove himself that he just couldn’t stand to go back to school.
I cannot describe the pain of knowing that someone who is so wonderful and precious is being torn down by others, not because he deserves it, but because it’s the only way they know how to make themselves feel better about their own existence.
We’ve all experienced the pain of others…we all remember hurtful things said to us in our youth…and it makes a deep, lasting wound that is hard to recover from. I still look at myself in the mirror and think "fat girl" (a leftover from sixth grade when I grew out before I grew up).
So, let’s all remember, we are all after the same thing. To be all we can be. And let’s help each other to do that. Inspire! Motivate! Build Up!
I guarantee, by making someone else stand taller…you will, too!

I’m so excited. I just bought my own pair of straps to do hanging leg raises…last year when I bought my ankle straps to do glute exercises I had this same feeling, and 6 weeks later I had the bottom of my high school years!!
So…here’s to my journey for a six-pack! I’m so excited!!

My new program must be working because I have NEVER been so aware of my abdominals in my life. I’ve had great posture ALL day, because it hurts to slump and pooch! I actually think I feel heat in the area!! And it’s made me eat right too!!
I’ll keep you guys posted.
