Looking the part…

Tuesday, August 28th, 2007

It finally happened! I have been lifting weights steadily for 3 years…have been eating clean since January…and today, I finally heard the words I have been longing to hear…."Are you a bodybuilder?"

EEEH! What Joy!! Poor guy, I almost kissed him…I did hug him…

Don’t send Me Care Packages…I’m Weak!!

Monday, August 27th, 2007

Okay, remember how I was bragging on my friend that is currently in Iraq? Well, today, he is not on my favorite persons list….Seems my friend is trying to thank me for training him and sending him supplements throughout his year, and he does it through a big box of Gourmet Baklava Pastries that arrived in the mail this morning at 10:07 am!!

Yes…I’m weak! I only opened it to see what they looked like…and I only took the first nibble to see if they were edible for my kids. Since then, I have been back 4x…yes, 4. I told you guys I was weak.

Bad thing is..I don’t even know how many calories I just ingested becauseĀ I can’t read Arabic!!

Oh well, maybe the shock will do my system good…

at least that’s what I’ll tell myself….

Props to Our Armed Forces…

Sunday, August 26th, 2007

I have had the great pleasure to on-line train a friendĀ  stationed in Iraq for the past year, and now that his deployment is coming to a close, I am truly amazed at the stuff our men and women of the armed services are made of.

My friend has spent his year away from his family working on his health and his physique, in order to come home to his bride of 19 years and "wow" her! He has worked out under some extreme conditions…mortar attacks to his workout facilities, EXTREME heat, fluctuating schedules and at best, piece-milled equipment. His nutritional needs have been haphazardly met…with protein powder and powdered egg-whites…and he has suffered through it all like a champ, because he had his eye on a goal.

Come October…his wife and kids are gonna go to the airport and pick up a soldier who weighs 35lbs less and is now in a 32" waistline…How amazing is that? He thinks they will be proud of him for what he has accomplished physically, but the truth is, they are gonna be proud of him for the same reason I am…He’s a hero in every form of the word.

This site is full of our deployed brothers and sisters who are using their time serving our country to come back to their loved ones a better person…You guys ROCK! Thanks for being a daily inspiration to us back at home!!

Not on the Back-Burner

Monday, August 20th, 2007

You know how they say that a painter’s house always needs to be painted, and a chef never cooks for their family…well, the same goes for a personal trainer. Got up this morning at 5 am to make sure that I got to work out today…unfortunately my alarm woke up my youngest daughter who wanted pancakes for breakfast and a little quality time…oh well, I won’t have her this age forever so I better take advantage of it…by 7am when the kids were on their way to school and I had an hour to work out before my first appt…I got a call…"Can I come early?" Sure..because I would like to get paid and I can always work out at lunch.

On and On it went…putting myself off while I encouraged others to make exercise a priority…

By the time I got to the school to pick up my kids…craving a diet coke all the way, and trying to talk myself out of it, I had an epiphany…if I don’t do it for myself, how can I convince others to make fitness a priority…

I have just spent the last hour working BIs, TRIs and DELTS while drilling my kids on their spelling words…and I’m through…But tomorrow…I WORK OUT FIRST…cause I can only give to others if I give to myself first…

Stay Encouraged, Everyone…and Thanks for your inspiration!!

Letting Bad Habits Creep Back In

Saturday, August 18th, 2007

At the first of this year, I gave up alot of bad habits…skipping meals, diet drinks, not planning ahead and eating out…and once I made the changes, I saw amazing results. For some reason, as soon as I saw those great benefits, I started slacking…a diet coke here…too busy to eat right now, so I’ll wait….sure, I ‘ll meet you for lunch…and now I find myself at the end of summer and have made zero progress to getting closer to my goal.

So here it is BB comrades…time to clean it up again and get serious. Thanks for all the support and encouragement you guys give…seeing what you all have accomplished makes me want it too!!
