I had such good luck with my 1st knee replacement in May of this year that I had the right knee done in July (July 15th). Am now in rehab for this knee and already doing resistance exercises. Again, did not have to use a walker, crutches or cane after leaving the hospital after a 3 day stay. Have started back training upper body this week and can’t wait to get back to training lower body again.

Had a total left replacement on May 20, 2008. Was walking (with a walker) within 3 hours of the surgery. In the hospital for 3 days. After getting out, never used a walker, crutches or a cane. Was able to start weight resistance therapy within a week. Now FULLY recovered after 5 weeks and getting ready to schedule the other knee. Hope to be doing some heavier leg work by the time my 62nd birthday rolls around in September. Still lifting 4 or 5 days a week and doing some leg extensions, leg curls and leg presses with both legs now.

It is now 1/23/2008. My bodyweight has dropped to 201 lbs. I have decreased my body fat percentage to around 19% and do get lower readings around 16%. I especially tried to limit "treats" around the holidays. Am back to my high protein low fat diet now. Try to eat fish and chicken most of the time. Hard to stay on a strict diet on the weekends. Have severe pain in knees from the OA will have to get knee replacements soon I fear. Has really limited my leg workouts. But hey, at almost 61 1/2, I still can outlift all of my friends who are in their 40’s!!!!

This is my first post to my blog. It will be my 61st birthday tomorrow and I am still pushing iron 4 or 5 days a week in the evenings agter a haed day at work. I lift for 45 to 60 min a night in my well equipped home gym. I presently weigh 210lbs. with a 48" chest, 17.5" biceps and a 33" waist. My legs are my weak point as I have Oa of both knees (from 10 years of Karate training 30 years ago) I still perform leg extensions, leg presses, leg curls and calf raises with as much weight as my knees will allow. I also take quite an assortment of supplements including but not limited to: Whey protein, beta alanine, andro test, creatine, fish oil, mass tabs, animal paks, etc. I feel pretty good for an "old" man!
