People showing off at the gym?
Hello y’all. I came back from the gym last night and an observation came across from my mind…why some people try really hard to show off? I have been seriously working out for about 2 years now and I say that I’m somewhat an average build that sticks to my routine as well as forms and sets. I see several overweighted, out of shaped and out of forms people trying to either grunt or think they are some bad ass walking like a crab. Some of them go really heavy and doing only 2 or 3 reps and screams on every rep. Are they not self conscious or is there a secret to these behaviors. It becomes really annoying and all I can do is crank up da Soulja boy. Do you have people like that in the gym and would you ever try to give them some advise?

Hey buddy them 2 or 3 reps could be their failure set and as for making a noise that is expected when picking up big weights, unless your from the new cross trainer generation who prefer watching the gym tv and mtv, btw this is not a dig at you just my opinion

Definitely hear what your saying. Those people can get annoying. In some people’s defense though, there may be people training for a powerlifting competition where they will only be required to perform one rep. They shouldn’t have to grunt through everyone but some noise should be allowed. If they are acting like an idiot, just ignore and stick to making yourself better. Keep training hard.

I’m in no knowledge to judge anyone. I’m sure everyone has their purpose to go to the gym but seriously do powerlifter go for 2-3 really heavy reps for one single exercise? for example this guy was lifting 70lb dumbbell presses without proper form and he thinks he is the biggest guy in the gym. Honestly they don’t bother me. It is just the question of my OP…..do you have people like that in the gym?

Hey hows it going super-troop?!?!!?
Listen brother, I just wanted to comment on this. Unfortunately for you, I am one those who grunts or makes noises at the gym AND…how’d you say it…walks like a crab. I won’t appologize. When I train, I train hard. Not everyone has the same goal as you do. I am the last person who would go to a gym and do stuff to attract attention. In my mind, I am never strong enough and will never be big enough. I do pyramids, increasing weight and dropping reps. After that, I try to do a 4 rep max and thats when the noises occur. So that explains the noises…oh and your myspace says "NO PAIN, NO GAIN"; I don’t care who you are, if its painfull enough, there’s gonna be noises…but theres a difference in just outright acting like an idiot.
Now the "walking like a crab" obviously bothers you too. Well not all people are built like you are, obviously. I always get made fun of because of how my arms hang. Before I began my weight training, I walked a certain way. When my body began changing, so did my posture, the way my arms hung and the way I walked. I didn’t notice it but my friends did. I try to force my arms down but that is SO unnatural to me now. Sorry bud, but like I tell the guys here, "I can’t help it and if you trained harder, depending on your body, you might understand…other than that, don’t hate." I don’t know you, so I can’t tell you the same thing but if the combat boot fits, then by all means strap it up tight. - "Doc"
