Went to the gym today intending to work quads, hams, and calves. After quads, I changfed my mind and decided to hit chest because #1) it just felt like I needed it, and #2) I will be on the road again next week, and wanted to make sure I hit it hard with the right equipment.
For the first time in a long time, I actually had a strong mind/muscle connection with my chest, and it felt awesome! I have been using the Smith Machine a lot because I train alone, but I decided to use a regular bench for incline presses, and incline flys, and it made a world of difference. I will be doing a lot more of that!

It’s been too long since I had a real workout day! Today, I got up early and did half an hour of cardio, after work, I did abs, back and bis, and then did another 25 minutes of cardio this evening. This is the basic routine that worked so well for me early in the year, so it felt good to be home and have the time available to get a normal routine under my belt!

You know you’re in for a bad day when there’s blood in your urine… I have had a few incidents where I passed kidney stones over the past ten years or so, and let me tell you - they are no fun at all! Depending on how quickly or slowly they make their way out, you are in enough pain that it affects your sleep, your workouts, and of course - how much time you spend in the bathroom!
I passed one stone while on the road last week, and had some relief, but based on another sleepless, painful night - I know there are more on their way…
The doctor has told me that caffeine intake plays a large part in their development, and of course, many fat burners contain quite a bit of caffeine! Drinking lots of water has probably delayed the recurring formation this time, but when they start developing and moving - it’s a pain for sure…!!
Anyone have any recommendations on avoiding and/or passing kidney stones?

OK, so I got the digital calipers that lots of people recommended (thank you all BTW!!!), and discovered that I am already below 25% BF, even though my (damn) scale says about 32% just about every day…! I am showing about 24% BF, which makes me feel better in a relative sense, but I know I still have a long ways to go in order to be content!
So… my new goal will now be <20%!

Can anyone tell me a good way to measure BF %? My psycho scale seems to show a different number every time I step on it, with seemingly no direct correlation to changes in my bodyweight…
Anyhow… Went to the gym this morning and did triceps and 20 minutes of interval training on the treadmill. After work, I did quads and hamstrings, and then came home and did another 20 minutes of cardio - this time on my exercsie bike.
Shellyrene has a friendly competition with 10 people to see who can lose 30 pounds by July 1st, so I joined up since it meets the timeframe for my weight loss goal anyhow - wish me luck!

Posted another weight drop yesterday - down to 218 now which has me feeling pretty good about how hard I’ve been working. Makes it much easier to dedicate yourself to cardio and gym time when it produces measurable results!
Did 30 minutes of cardio this morning, then it was abs, chest, and back at the gym again. Had some orange Superpump 250 to fuel me a little bit & it worked well. Just for fun, I tried to go heavy on chest - did a couple of average sets, and tried to work up to one heavy rep (using the Smith machine since I had no spotter) - my previous heaviest bench was 255 on a regular bench back in like 1995 or something. Today I got 265 on the Smith, and believe I could have gotten 275 or maybe more. I understand that’s not much compared to the MANY big boys on this site, but it feels good to be my strongest ever at 42 years old! Now I’m thinking I need to work towards a 300 pound bench - just for bragging rights (*grin*).
Hope everyone is doing well, and have a great weekend!

Got up at 4:30AM, and got to the gym by 5AM when they opened. Did quads and hamstrings, then walked on the treadmill for 10 minutes to get some feeling back into my legs. It was rough because I didn’t have much energy. I had ~ 20g of whey protein first thing when I got up, but no carbs until after the workout. What I SHOULD have done was had 1-2 tablespoons of honey first…!
Both of my sons tested for their dark blue belts in Tae Kwon Do and did well with me there to see it, so it was well worth it!

My schedule has today as a day off, but I did 25 minutes of cardio this morning, and this evening as well. My 2 sons are also testing for their dark blue belt in Tae Kwon Do tomorrow, so I did calves and abs at the gym, and tomorrow, I will go to the gym in the morning before work to do quads and hamstrings.
Life has a way of getting in the way of working out, but with the right amount of planning and effort, I can make this work out OK…!

Started with 30 minutes of cardio - had a good day for the diet, and then at the gym it was shoulders/traps and arms (bis and tris). Again, a much different combination than I am used to, but I am trusting Dave that this program will work! BTW - Dogcrapp is accurately named ! On the positive side, I wore a sleeveless shirt at the gym today, and liked what I saw in the mirror on the way out - everything I had just worked out was very pumped up!

Did 30 minutes of cardio this morning, then went to the gym this afternoon and did abs, chest, and back. It’s a different combination than I am used to - I’ve never done chest and back together, so it was a very taxing day, but I worked my a$$ off, and felt good about it when I was done.
Dave’s diet has my eating more carbs than I was on the Mitotropin plan, so I’m anxious to see what the results will be like. Can’t wait to see some more changes!
