Wii sports active

July 8, 2009

So i got myself a wii.

And as i have been having trouble getting time in the gym, i decided to try out and see what a wii can bring to the fitness market.

Got myself wiifit board, and EA sports active. Now ea sports active, includes a rubber resistance band, game and a leg strap for holding a nunchuck.
It is a personal trainer in a box so to speak. It lays out your workouts for you. It also comes with a 30 day fitness challenge.

So i have decided to only try out that part for the next 30 days.

I’m currently on day 3, which is a rest day.

The first two days were fun, around 20mins of exercise each day. But they did manage to work up a good sweat.

Pros :

Easy, at home, no thinking just follow instructions
The running part at home, is actually great for my shins, who normally hurt after running. And i think my soles are getting more flexible.
Good at keeping you on track

Cons :

only thing i can see, is that it doesn’t have enough resistance on the rubber band, to build huge muscles. But it’s good for toning.

so all i can say for now, try it…  it is fun and great way to do it.

warrior style 5th month

April 29, 2009

well i’m still on it… sure some days i don’t quite follow it, but my mindset of just continuing, is proving very good.

I’m feeling great, i can suddenly get up very early every morning. I have actually started to do regular workouts now, without really skipping them.
Life is good, and i’m getting better.

My apartment is becoming great to live in (having really done a good job cleaning up and arranging furniture the right way)
I’m happy in my job
And my economy is under control for the first time in my life.

I can feel that i’m on the road to something big.

 stay tuned for more news.

On it again, warrior style, day 1

December 21, 2008

So i have signed up for the 1st of january fitness contest on our forums.

And looking around the forums, someone in the contest mentioned the warrior diet. So i started researching it. Having read a bit, i found it interesting. Mainly, because the last two weeks, i have noticed i have dropped some weight. And during those weeks, i have been eating a bit like the warrior diet describes.

so today was my first day on the warrior diet. Without having fully read the book, i started on it with all the hints and tips i have read.

Spent all day, on 4 cups of coffee, lots of water, and some almonds. Then i came home at 7pm, and started making some nice steamed vegetables. After eating that, i made 2 chicken breasts, with brown pasta and sauce. Having eaten that, i still felt hungry, so i prepared another chicken breast, and some more pasta.

right now my stomach can’t quite define if it’s full or still hungry… but i know i have eaten alot so far.

anyways, during daytime, i felt sooo full of energy, and definately did not feel distracted or light headed.

So the first day, i must say, is a big success.. i also got to try my indoor grill for the first time….  yummy foods.

Back on the horse again

November 5, 2008

over a year has passed. I fell off the wagon.

But now i’m trying again. This time i have a partner in crime, and we are starting at the local health club today. Hopefully, with both our busy schedules, we can manage 2-3 training days together a week.

This time i won’t start out with diets, except to eat healthy, and get a few more meals in.
What brings my hopes up, is that i’m slowly getting my life under control. I’m currently for the first time in over 12 years, getting control over my economy. So i’m finally able to buy the stuff i need to eat, instead of eating rice and pasta with ketchup. Life is so much easier to handle, when your finances are under your full control.

well here’s to being 30, much wiser, and realising there is no more perfect time than now to start. It’s my body, and it’s already going downhill. Time to stop the landslide.

when life conspires against you

July 22, 2007

if life conspires against you, and things do happen to knock you off the training horse. Don’t worry. Don’t fret. Don’t feel guilty.

Just dust yourself off, and get back on it as soon as you can.

I know i just did it this way…. many things happend to me.. nothing big.. only small things. Was too busy suddenly, started sleeping 4-5 hours more each day, was so tired, overate of all the wrong stuff, but most days i managed to limit it. Camera broke down, so cannot take new pictures.

But during that time, most of my meals still were the healthy kind. And when i finally got my bodyfat weight to work again, it showed me that i was still at the same weight as i was when i left… so the lesson to me is, that as long as i eat mostly healthy, i will not gain weight or lose it.

But now it’s going the right way again.. and it’s good.. real good. Also went and bought myself an adjustable dumbbell set. My god they are everything i have ever needed for a home gym. They make training so much more fun and easy, instead of spending every time between sets, adjusting weights on my dumbbells…

so now i’m back, and i got a goal… up up, and away….

a week of keto

May 20, 2007

So i have been on the keto diet, almost a week. Started out this monday, rather half assed, reading stuff as i went along about the keto diet. But it still seems i hit it on the nail, as i’m currently losing weight. And at a good rate.

Due to a too busy week, i didn’t get any workout in. But it has still gone fine. Also had to do carpup day, from thursday noon to friday midnight. And i must admit my carpup diet was not very balanced. Too much cake at one setting, ice cream and a bit of candy at another setting. But overall i kept it ok. Then saturday, after i was back on keto’ing, there was this huge international meetup at a bar, with 146 computer players from around the danish country and abroad. So i had to get 3 large beers as well…

And even then, i am still down to 98.5kg and 30.1% bodyfat… so healthy living is my way of life now.

Diet Keto style

May 16, 2007

So i spent about two weeks on a standard low carb diet, eating boring foods, with a few good tasting ones.

Had heard about keto before, but not much, untill i found it on the forums here. Read up a bit on it, and thought, why not, sounds perfect for my fat loss needs. And it would make my diet more interesting.

Well i’m now on day 3 of keto, and i must say i can totally feel it in my body. And my bodyfat is dropping off steadily. Monday i was at 30.5%, tuesday at 30.4% and wednesday at 30.3%… so it’s a steady progress…

And the best part? the foods… hamburgers covered in cheese… even broccoli covered in cheese… dang that’s yummy, and helping me reach my goal… i must say, if it can get me to below 18%, i’m hooked for life… and yes, i have truly decided that this is a life change… from now on and the rest of my life, i’m going to be controlling my diet… no more shuffling all sorts of foods inside… :)

Starting Out, making the first descicion

May 5, 2007

Do you know how hard it can be? to push yourself up from your chair, and take the first step in getting a better and healthier body?

Very hard.

So last week, i found brown pasta in the stores. Kinda new and unusual around here in Denmark. And i thought, why not change all my white pasta, that i ate alot of, into this, and start cutting down on the carbs i ate at my 3 meals a day.

A few days later, it hit me, why don’t i finally get my act together, start on a meal and training plan, and finally stick with it, past the first month? I’m turning 30 this year, and i still haven’t managed to get in shape during the last 12 years. I have read, studied and trained bodybuilding. But i have never stuck with it. Guess it’s like so many other parts of my life actually.

But i feel something different in me. This time i know, i am going to succeed. Finally i am on the true road towards the body i have always wanted. And i am writing this, in the hopes that it will give me that extra kick on those days where i don’t really wanna do anything.

So i have thrown out all the unhealthy stuff in my apartment. No sugar to be found anywhere. No sweet munchies. In with all the healthy stuff, the stuff with lots of fibers in it too. And making my homemade protein shakes.

Here is what i currently have to work with.

2 dumbbells
1 bench that can be adjusted in seat (no decline)
1 exercise bike

From this, i’m going to do all my daily routines. Going to do at least 20 mins of biking a day, upping it to 30 mins in a week. Then a week after that, i’m going up to 2×30 mins a day.

Doing loads of dumbbell training, and just pure bodyweight exercises.

For food, i currently have these few choices (limited funds this month)

Oatmeal (need something to pair it with in the mornings. Thinking protein shake perhaps??)
3 rice cakes, the heavy grain ones. With cottage cheese on top.
Brown rice, and chicken breast
Dark rough bread, with lowfat cheese on top
Brown pasta, with tuna, veggies and a bit of miracle whip for more smoothness (kinda mayo like)
and my own homemade protein shake with soypro protein. Difficult to make it taste good. But Cheap. Very cheap.

anyone have other good advices? it has to be easy and cheap. And available in denmark.

day 1 and 2
Trained chest, quads and shoulders and arms. My god i am sore after the first times training. I know it ends quickly, but the first week is always a tough one in that respect. Becoming difficult to dry your hair, even get out of bed due to soreness. But it’s good to know that it’s over next week.

Dreaming of 3 months from now… alot lower bodyfat… great shape, ready for the end of the summer… perhaps i should travel to australia then? :)
