I’m all moved, albeit to a probably temporary living situation. I don’t think I’ll be here more than 6 months or so, just long enough to get my bearings, finish training for work and find out where I will be permanently affixed.
I moved here because in CS all I did was work. It was a crap year.. I lost both Grandfathers and my beloved Brody. (Yes, he was a dog - but to me he was my kid.) In November, I tried to ‘work through the pain’ with a shoulder impingement, probably doing enough damage to warrant surgery, although I am trying to avoid it.
I moved there for work last August, and when Brody started to get sick in April, I realized that all I had there was a job. I knew I could get another one of those. I had lost 15+lbs of muscle, and while I wasn’t fat or anything, I was far from where I was last April (When I set the 2 GWR’s) or May (When my main photo was taken).
Right now I’m completely torn between getting my abs back or putting on as much muscle as possible. The next Lift-A-Thon is in 14 weeks (from yesterday), and thanks to muscle memory, I know it won’t be too much of a challenge, but I really want the taper, and I won’t get that until I cut.
Since I hate cardio, I am (for right now) on the muscle building plan. I really need to work on my shoulders, but because of the impingement, I am afraid to push it to the limit. I’ll get an MRI in the next couple of months, and will know if I have to go under the knife or not. I’m hoping htat another couple of shots will do the trick (I’ve had 2 already).
So, not that anyone reads this, but that’s the plan…

Looks like I"m headed north this time.. North Dallas, actually.
I’m doing the final phase of interviewing the day after tomorrow, and I anticipate an offer this week.
I’ll be looking for a new gym to train at near the Addison area, although I’m not sure exactly where I will be living long term. Initially I will be living in Murphy.
If you have any gym suggestions, let me know!

So not only have I apparently shrunk (I was 5′10" when I joined the military, 5′9" when I left the military, and today I was 5′8 1/4") over the last few years, but that’s not the disturbing part…
Apparently I’m fatter and not as muscular as I thought. *DOH!*
I had several tests done by Jean Jitomer at the Exercise Sport Nutrition Lab at Baylor University today. It was pretty interesting, except that I felt a little clausterphobic in the bubble when I was getting my RMR tested and it was wierd having my feet taped together for the DEXA Scan.
Here are the results and thoughts as to what I have to do..
I was 178.6 this AM, fasting. my RMR is 1856.7 cals/day (Higher than average..yay me!)
I’ve got just over 49 liters of water in my body.
My waist is 35" and my bodyfat is exactly 16.0%.
The good news is that my legs are leaner than most so they will cut up nicely. The bad news is that my trunk is fat. I already knew part of that in that I carry a lot of waist fat normaly but also my back is fat as well. I don’t think that will be a problem once I start leaning, though.
The numbers she gave me at the end were scary and disappointing, although I had already done my own prliminary numbers a couple of days ago and I was within 10% of her estimates.
She said I need to lose around 30lbs, and about 20lbs of fat. the 10lbs of muscle (or less, hopefully) will go away too, but that can’t be helped when you’re natural.
So, it looks like my target contest weight is in the low 150’s with a BF% of a TRUE 5%.
Last year when I was (or thought I was) 6%, I was probaby actually about 9%.
152 and 5% bodyfat in 14 weeks.
I can do this.

I started my cutting diet yesterday.. It went OK except that I missed the pre/post workout shakes since I didn’t have the opportunity to get to the gym because of work. I definitely missed those calories because I was starving by the end of the day.
I did not cheat, although I had an extra banana or two..
It’s hardest getting used to M1 because I’ mused to 1/2c oats plus 2 scoops protein powder, but since I cut the powder, it just seems strange. I also have 4 eggwhites and 2 whole eggs which I need to liven up with a tomato or something.
Plain oatmeal, even with cinamon is just not the same. I don’t add sweetener because they seem to break the oats down into goo which is just kinda nasty.
I get my resting metabolic rate and DEXA scan tomorrow thanks to Jean, so I’ll be able to know exactly how much work I have ahead of me in the next 16 3/4 weeks.
14 3/4 actually, since I’m doing the NGA Southern States in Houston 2 weeks before the OCB Midwest states.
Any Texas peeps, you better be there on Nov 3… And any Chicagoland peeps need to check us out on Nov 17!

OK, so far I have counted seven guys (including me) that plan (at least right now) to compete in the 2008 Texas Shredder Classic.
I won’t actually be living in Waco at that point, but I’ll still be back every month or 6 weeks and will get to see them progress.
Sorry guys.. Be prepared for disppointment

Tonight I was fortunate enough to confer with the lovely and brilliant JitWit.
She outlined my diet for the next six weeks, and about the first week of August, we’ll get together again so that I can get my cutting diet for the next 14 weeks.
I know I’ll be successful with her help, and it’s to my benefit that I have lots of willpower.
It was really nice to see that I’m not restricted to nasty stuff like broccoli or tilapia. Bt since I love chicken and green beans.. WOOHOO!!
She also prescribed some supplimentation, which I don’t currently do, (Other than protein) so I went to buy some BCAA’s but didn’t get any creatine since I thought (mistakenly) that I had some on hand. Guess that will be on tomorrow’s agenda..
I probably won’t update this more than onec every few days/week or so…
