Wow, wish I could take that kind of time off &amp; not pay for it bigtime. Care to let me borrow your 21 yr old metabolism? For just a little while? Maybe? :D

nope gum will bloat you up....i would cut the salt too, everything has it's own sodium natural sources so no adding salt, drink plenty of water so that the body can shed out the junk with easier, take about 3 cups of green tea throughout the day, sprinkle cinnamon in it bec it helps with metabolism and digestion. Althoug I've never done any competition or whatever I don't even think about it but I would really start cleansing out the system. YOu know fat gets rid of fat so I would do protein+fat all throughout the day (good fat) vitamin E, flax, fish, CLA, avocado (just 1/4th) stuff like that. i don't know what animal cuts do to you or gum but gum definitely bloats up...oh yeah and fruit, fruit is all sugars so it gets stored if you don't use it immediately, the only times to use fruit is for energy before the workout or right immediately after, like a pear with almonds, pear because it deflates the belly:)

2 weeks left huh?

Oh shoot, I have 2 weeks left as well...Hmmm. I've been meaning to check out how to 'carb load' to come out looking more solid that next day, or 2 days, or however carb loading works its magic. I've only heard and read about it a little bit.

Well, best of luck these last 2 weeks. Make'em count and blow the competition out of the water!

This is an EXCELLENT topic. I've heard the same. Honestly, and I hate to say this because I too love sushi, is that I'm leaning on the "cheating" end because of the white rice. Because we all know the old motto "Don't eat 'white' food". White break, white rice, white paste because there no substance to them.

Now if you could find a sushi place that made it with brown rice... that's another story.

(But what the hell... if you're going to cheat... it's much better then... say... eating a bag of potato chips.

I work in a sports medicine clinic and I've seen hundreds of meniscus tears. The are usually from some type of trauma. Getting tackled from the side in football or twisting your leg snowboarding like Ben up there did. If you didn't have any trauma of the sort its highly UNLIKELY you have a tear. Sounds like you do a lot of running and a lot of leg workouts. We get people in my clinic for this all the time. You might want to research Patello femoral pain syndrome. Most runners get this at least one point in their life. It is very painful at times. Usually its overcome by taking some time off from your activities and stretching A LOT and correcting for on a few exercises if they are done poorly. I can't be sure what you have without doing a knee exam on you but I would definitely get a second opinion with someone a lil more knowledgeable. Good luck, I hope you get better.

Sorry to hear about your injury. I had a miniscus tear about 4 years ago snowboarding. My knee twisted pretty bad. A doc told me it was prob a tear. I never had any treatment or surgury so it still hurts at time when I do a lot of leg excercises, or play extended periods of hockey. I guess if you don't want it bothering you, try to get it treated after your show is over. Good luck with your upcoming competition!

Bioelectric impedence machines have a margin of error between 10 and 12%. it usually falls to like an extra 6% higher or lower depending on how hydrated you are. if you are over hydrated you will read at a lower BF% and vice versa. You shouldnt be able to see your abs at 19%. you are probably correct in your assumption that you are 12-13%.

Girly, dont sweat it. If you think you can do the run in your keto diet you are out of your mind. You need your carbs. You will burn them trust me. I also heard chocolate milk shake is good before a run but dont try anything drastic unless you have tried it before. Just for future. Good luck tomorrow. Let me know. Pasta is awesome the pm before a race, but I have heard potatoes are better. Done it myself.

Anything with chocolate is likely to be a winner with yours truly. My daughters' nickname for me.....The Chocolate Monster. AND with peanut butter?! It's a Win-Win. :D

My friend and I have been doing swimsuit competitions. We've been to about 4. These are just ones at car shows like NOPI. So it may be different than real swimsuit comps but anyway I was thinking the exact same thing, they just want people who are skinny as a rail with no definition. But this year one girl did have some nice abs and she tied for 1st. And last year there was a gymnast who had a killer muscular body though thin, and she was in the finals, but she should have been first and who gets first? The extra skinny girl with no muscles and big humongous boobs!!!!
