what it takes to be a true bodybuilder (imo)

August 5, 2009

after I finished this last show at the atlantic states on June 6, 2009…I felt that I did everything possible a human can do up to that point to be ready for the show….I placed 6th, this was my first NPC show.  some stats on what I did to get to my point for the june 6th show…I weighed in 199lbs off season and then cut to 189lbs without any guidance on how to diet, prep, pose, or anything.  I place second at a USBF show and was disappointed at the momment but then got home and had a renew sense of work.  I vowed to gain at least 15lbs of pure muscle for the june show.  Most said it was impossible to gain that kind of quality mass.  I was set out to prove everyone wrong.  So I started to eat and eat and eat, from the middle of november to beginning of january I went from 189lbs to 240lbs.  I started to slowly cut and by january I weighed in a diced 207lbs…I knew walking into this show I was going to give 15 to 18lbs of muscle to everyone but I hoped my conditioning would at be the best there.  I achieved the conditioning but still lost because of such a weight difference.  I was happy though because I put on 18lbs of pure muscle and shut everyone up.  I came back home and decided that I would do the mid november show in the city…same promoter, same judges, and same staff as the atlantic states(june 6th show).  I stated what I wanted to do to the important people in the industry and they once again said it was impossible to put on 18lbs in 5 months.  now, we’re at this crossroad in my career.   I took their comments and used it to fuel my passion.  since june 2009 to now I have put on 56lbs of weight.  it was a process that took 7 weeks.  it has been stated many times over that I looked better at 260lbs than I did at 240lbs…It was because to get to 240lbs I just ate anything…this time around I was smarter and ate with a macro ratio. I did a 35% carb, 50% protein, 15% fat macro.  6,400 cals a day, 800cals per meal.  740 grams of protein.  that’s my secret to bulkin clean.  I’m not worry about giving my secret away like other bodybuilders because eating like this is not for the lighthearted…I’ve thrown up in my mouth and kept eating…I’ve had a cold, while some would rather sleep it off and not eat I would go down stairs and make my meal and eat even if I felt like hell…I would wake at 2am and 4am to eat.  I would pack 4 meals knowing I would have to work at night…I felt sick all the time from the drastic weight increase and still would shove food down my mouth knowing any second I would throw it up and have to eat more to make up for it.  I picked up a stomach virus two weeks ago that lasted a whole week…I was on the toilet right after I would eat but I would not let it weaken me.  Antibiotics actually made it worse for my bowel, I felt worse than I’ve ever felt in my life yet I still dragged myself into the gym and worked out.  I always have a mindset that there is always someone out there that is willing to work harder.  now, I can look back and said I did everything I could to get to this point without falter.  I pushed myself passed my limit and beyond, next time I will push even harder.  This is bodybuilding not body maintaining, now when I do this show I hope the judges will see my dedication to this sport and be astonished at what I accomplished…from novem 2008 to novem 2009 I would have put on 36lbs of PURE muscle if everything goes accordingly….I’ll leave you with this,"I AM THE AMBOMINATION!"
