Blog Entry

July 19, 2008

alrighty then, I am bloggin.  This is my first one so please bear with me.  I have been a long time lurker on bb.com and have decided to let it all out.  Maybe not all but you get it.

I have been working out for about 3 yrs now somewhat successfully.  I say that because I have lost about 35 lbs. so far.  That is not much compared to some on here but, it still makes me feel pretty good none the less.

I do lift weights and enjoy it very much, but my main gig is training for triathlons.  I am not very good at them yet but I do enjoy the challenge.  Plus I love to eat and although I have magorly changed my diet I still get to eat pretty good.  I don’t have a lot of will power so it works out well.  I have done two mini sprints so far and will be doing my first full sprint in Sept.  For all the hard core out there I am sure it does not sound like much, but again it makes me feel good.(baby steps right?)  This sprint will be the real deal.  It has an open water swim and starting waves and everything.  So I will take my $99 schwinn and give it hell.  I am very frugal, so I am sure it will be like parking my VW bug in the BMW parking lot.  I will try not to scratch any new paint jobs.

On thursday I went to the local highschool and ran (i say run but, really mean slowly jogged) 2.5 miles and then ran the bleachers.  I really enjoy the bleachers, I think it really builds up your leg muscles.  I went about noon so it was about 95 degrees.  I am trying to get used to the heat for my race.  While I was there I saw this guy puking like crazy on the other end of the bleachers.  At first I felt pretty sorry for him but then was kinda like dude!!!

I am getting off monday morning and will probably ride my bike.  I am routinely riding between 20 and 25 miles now.  Ok, my fellow frugals out there you have got to spring for bike shorts. YOU HAVE TO DO THIS.  It makes so much difference.  Your special spot will also say thank you.  I say be cheap or go home…..but be comfy too.  I will probably start my bricks on monday also.  Bricks are when you torture yourself a little and then turn it up.(G)  Bricks are when you do two exercises back to back, such as swimming and then running.  Monday I will ride my bike and then run probably just a mile or so.  If you have never done this give it a try just for fun.  The first time I tried this I felt like I was running like a dog wearing shoes. Clop, clop clop.  It does get better but what a feeling.

So, I will come to a close now.  I hope it was not to boring.  If it was then please do not read it anymore life is to short.
